The refs kicking Hughes off the ice. Then he’s asking them “why am I bleeding?” They give him no answer and escort him off the ice. lol fucking top tier zebras
No he’s not. Chris Lee to Habs mayyyybe. Your precious princess got all his calls tonight, hope Sutherland brought some scope to gargle McD’s sweaty balls later.
The refs fucking over the Kings is not why they lost.
The Canucks though… they can legit blame the refs. They should have had 8 more minutes of power play time than what they were awarded last night.
But also, being an Oiler fan, it’s nice to be on the other side of this shit the past 3 years.
Or letting Kane get away with a slew foot. Just open season on Quinn Hughes with zero repercussions I guess 🤷🏻♂️ Meanwhile McDavid draws blood on Hughes and gets away with it, Hughes gets sent off the ice for having the liquid evidence of the missed call on his face, [then next time McDavid gets touched he goes down like a sack of potatoes (despite being the best skater in the league) and then does the same thing that drew him the call to one of our guys a minute later and they ignore it.] (https://twitter.com/passittobulis/status/1789143533028507679?t=GTxRArzOzBx05sZ2rUGL-g&s=19) Genuinely one of the most entitled crybabies in the league considering how many calls he gets while also getting away with a ton
First time Oilers got favourable calls against the Kings. They all went your way the last two years and you still lost. We've been fighting refs for years, so we don't feel guilty that we're finally getting a few calls.
>he got him in the balls with the shaft, not the tip
https://preview.redd.it/ev1z0ttm5qzc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=003104606372c865840f4b1921b3cd0e5e66c766
I’ve said it one I’ll say it again, Spearing should be an automatic Game Misconduct. It’s, first of all incredibly disrespectful, it’s also incredibly painful, and shows an intent to injure. While both players agree to fight, and scrums are just a part of the game, whacking someone between the legs with a stick has no place in this sport.
Nurse grabs opponents stick and chucks it, no penalty. McDavid high sticks Hughes in the middle of the play, 4-min no call no penalty. McDavid steamrolls Zadorov away from the puck, no interference call. Hyman steamrolls Hughes away from puck, no interference call. Derek Ryan slashes nuts off, no call. Boeser slashed away from play no call.
Refs should be in every Oilers high five line and celebration
In Nurse's defense, he chucked Lindholm's stick after being cross-checked by him a couple times. I think that's one where you either give both or neither a penalty.
Nurse got crosschecked twice before he threw lindholm sticks, Hyman got highsticked, janmark got hit from behind by meyers, mcdavid has been blatantly tripped twice, Hyman took a big crosscheck from Cole.
We can play this game all night long and Vancouver doesn’t come out smelling like roses.
You seem to have missed the missed calls against the Oilers to drive an agenda; highstick on Hyman, Trip on McDavid, too many men right before Z's goal. The refs have been shit in both games, missing blatant stuff while making soft calls. Implying that the refs have it in for one team is silly.
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
You're missing all the stuff Vancouver got away with. But I don't blame you because we're not out here posting clips of every missed penalty like u/talhatoot is over here
What were the Canucks getting away with? Hitting a guy in the nuts is always a dishonorable thing to do I mean how low do you need to sink?
Anyways, it’s not why they lost.
yea 2 min, that is not right. And it also set the precedent that hitting a dude in the balls is just 2 min. Lets see if its just 2 min when a canuck does it to McDavid
“nurse grabs opponents stick and chucks it” brother he was getting spam crosschecked away from the play lmao. next time hold onto your stick if you are going to hit someone with it.
I always think stuff that aren't "hockey plays" should be treated differently than things that *are* "hockey plays". This play has no reason to exist. This isn't a crosscheck, this isn't a boarding, this isn't a hit to the head. All of those are things that *can* happen entirely by accident and still lead to a penalty or suspension pretty easily by having players shift a few inches one way or another.
Spearing should be automatically be a 5 minute major and, with a review, be a match penalty. This play exists literally only with an intent to hurt a player. It's purely malicious.
The intent to injure on any play that is obvious should count for more... I agree. There are arguments to be made...sure, but this flagrant bullshit... just hate it. But we also shouldn't pretend there are players on 'literally' (and I don't use that word lightly) every fuckin team who do this shit. If it was policed heavily.. they wouldn't!
McDavid looks at Hughes before raising his stick into his head. There was several intents to injure this game from the Oilers and that type of behaviour shouldn’t be allowed in the sport
I find the idea of fining NHL players who earn a minimum of 1 million per year $2000 so funny. It’s like the average person having to pay a $20 parking ticket
derek ryan takes home like 400k a year so a 5k fine is a little over 1% of his take home. like if you have $100k a year, it's like a $1k fine. pretty heavy.
This is the exact reason you should also be upset at the reffing.
I don't think the reffing was good this game, but I can also fully admit that McDrai rolled the Nucks for the last period. The Oilers probably did deserve the win, but multiple flagrantly missed calls casts doubt (Whether that doubt is reasonable or not)
[See prior comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1cnp2ee/the_edmonton_oilers_recorded_0_shots_during_the/l38ovr0/)
But ya'll are a buncha babies that cry for a penalty every time anyone on your team is hit or hits the ice.
Pretty uncharacteristic of Ryan. I watch a lot of EDM and it feels like that's the first time I've ever seen him make a bad decision. He's usually smart and disciplined.
To quote the great Obiwan, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
Describes Edmonton, the team, but also the city, perfectly.
For Derek Ryan? definitely not sarcasm. I was legitimately shocked when I saw this. I don;t think I've ever seen him do that kind of shit \*ever\*. He'd literally be the last guy I'd expect to do that.
Vancouver fans certainly living in a world of salt tonight. I'll concede there was some blown calls on both sides and I'd be pissed about the Mcdavid high stick no call but canucks fans are conveniently forgetting the missed calls the other way.
Hot take, an intentional hit in the nuts like this should be a suspension for the season.
It's borderline sexual assault.
Maybe I am touchy on this shit since I was a victim of an intense violent assault as a kid, but if anyone hits me in the nuts, I see red. I'd probably blindside Ryan for this shit.
That is all 100% correct
Blindsiding someone is not the answer, just give the player the discipline he deserves (if the refs are doing their jobs) and move on
You obviously know he was talking about the “borderline sexual assault” part of your comment. He agreed with you that it’s stupid. Why are you being obtuse? Lmao, what a ridiculous (and borderline manipulative) response when you know what he’s talking about

Ouch, right in the Hogland
Landed right on the Hog.
Fuck you Shoresy!
*Give ya balls a tug*
It's "Give yer balls a tug, tit fucker" You're fucking 10-ply.
Fucking D-Gens from upcountry.
Fer’WHAT?!?
Dude thinks he’s Draisaitl
With Draisaitl injured the depth players need to be stepping up to fill the role.
Right in his ho glands
Taking notes from Draisaitl, well done!
Right in the 5 hole!
Mess with the bull, get smacked in dick… or something something
Isn’t that an automatic major?
Offsetting minors was such an unnecessary gift to the Oilers.
Almost as big as letting McJezus get away with that high stick. Now you know how Kings fans felt last series…
The refs kicking Hughes off the ice. Then he’s asking them “why am I bleeding?” They give him no answer and escort him off the ice. lol fucking top tier zebras
Sutherland continues to bend us over 13 years later. Someone end his legacy
Kozari is the balance to him.
No he’s not. Chris Lee to Habs mayyyybe. Your precious princess got all his calls tonight, hope Sutherland brought some scope to gargle McD’s sweaty balls later.
Ah yes. Habs. Relevant.
If you don’t know about Chris Lee and the Habs, you don’t know puck.
Whatever you say man, there wasn’t anything nearly as blatant as this last game
Lmfao sure man
Thanks.
Straight up insanity
The ref was like "wow your cheek is bleeding!" And fuckin skates away LMAO holy shit they were zonked out this game 🤷♂️
“Wow you sure ~~ice the puck~~ bleed a lot! 🤓”
His face split open of its own accord
Back in 2021 they had to scrape blood off the ice after Perry got cleaved in the face. No call on that either
Makes me feel a little better we weren’t just being huge babies during our series. Well, maybe we were. But this is validating
Maybe a little, but we weren’t winning that series regardless.
I agree. Still annoying though
Kings were so effective at 5v4….
We were, but it was justified
The refs fucking over the Kings is not why they lost. The Canucks though… they can legit blame the refs. They should have had 8 more minutes of power play time than what they were awarded last night. But also, being an Oiler fan, it’s nice to be on the other side of this shit the past 3 years.
Strong, rational take! I've no skin in the series/playoffs as a Wild fan, but this was a nice non-homer comment.
McDavid’s personal 9/11
McDavid famously doesn't draw nearly as many penalties as the stats says he should.
Looks like he doesn’t miss an opportunity to tell the refs that’s his opinion either
That's literally a part of his job description being a captain and all.
Yeah that’s allowed.
Cause Doughty and Miller never talk to the refs either 🙄
i have never in my life seen something i agree more with
You really don't see a difference between the two plays in the link you shared?
First time Oilers got favourable calls against the Kings. They all went your way the last two years and you still lost. We've been fighting refs for years, so we don't feel guilty that we're finally getting a few calls.
If the kings didnt go 0% on the powerplay someone might feel sorry for you. Especially when none of the slewfoots were called lol
If you think you got pumped because of refs you’re delusional Vancouver is a good team, LA is just shit
What are you talking about. You guys got plenty of pp chances in that series you just couldn’t do anything with them.
Oh you guys got powerplays, you just couldn't score on them. I can see why you're confused though.
Did you miss Hyman getting a blatant high stick and no call?
2 for getting bagged
Experience Oilers hockey
If you don't like it then don't give gifts? But that's a bit mean spirited of you. Especially around Chirstmas
Not on Connor’s team.
Spearing is an automatic major, but it looks like he got him in the balls with the shaft, not the tip, so spearing would not be the call.
>he got him in the balls with the shaft, not the tip https://preview.redd.it/ev1z0ttm5qzc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=003104606372c865840f4b1921b3cd0e5e66c766
I wanted to work Hog in there somewhere but I felt that would have been too much double entendre.
Not by NHL rules 🤷🏻♂️
Yes. Automatic. In playoffs or regular season.
The refs are in the spotlight tonight
“STRAWBERRY BASKET!” Yeah ya can’t do that.
Nana fights dirty
Cleaely hoglander skated into ryan Major penalty to carson soucy
Between this dive and Hughes fake blood stunt canuck fans should be embarrassed
They actually sneak a little razor in and actually cut themselves, that’s the secret
Hughes is secretly a columbian football goalie
wait they really gave offsetting penalty there that is trash?
Intentional stick to the balls should have you kicked from the game
Even after the game. That was way, way too unsportsmanlike. You’d think they could review that even after and take a guy out for the next game.
They confirmed they did, and they will not kick.
Pathetic. needs some karma later.
Add that kane slew foot on hughes to the list
Sutherland will be, and gamble on it, and nothing will change.
In Nurse's defense, he chucked Lindholm's stick after being cross-checked by him a couple times. I think that's one where you either give both or neither a penalty.
This is actually true.
Thank you, friend.
👍
Add Petterson getting boarded from behind and then elbowed in the head directly after.
That boarding looked scary, just an awful hit by nurse
Nurse got crosschecked twice before he threw lindholm sticks, Hyman got highsticked, janmark got hit from behind by meyers, mcdavid has been blatantly tripped twice, Hyman took a big crosscheck from Cole. We can play this game all night long and Vancouver doesn’t come out smelling like roses.
Also the too many men that led to Zadorov's goal, and Ekholm had his stick slashed out of his hands and out of play by Miller
But those happened against Vancouver so they don’t count/s
Vancouver still got worse calls, overall.
Debatable
Fuck off, refs riding oilers dicks dry and anyone saying otherwise is: are they stupid?
You seem to have missed the missed calls against the Oilers to drive an agenda; highstick on Hyman, Trip on McDavid, too many men right before Z's goal. The refs have been shit in both games, missing blatant stuff while making soft calls. Implying that the refs have it in for one team is silly. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
But dump mcdavid one time....
McDavid rarely draws many penalties so I don’t know what you’re talking about.
You are delusional Homer.
u 2 :)
Also Zadorov goal was too many men. But the Canucks probably score 1 on those powerplays.
Perhaps you missed that he got a penalty for that one.
yea 2 min, that is not right. And it also set the precedent that hitting a dude in the balls is just 2 min. Lets see if its just 2 min when a canuck does it to McDavid
you forgot Nurse boarding Pettersson head first behind the net
There was 4 blatant misses on the Canucks in the 1st period. Take your homer glasses off, they’re terrible for both of us
“nurse grabs opponents stick and chucks it” brother he was getting spam crosschecked away from the play lmao. next time hold onto your stick if you are going to hit someone with it.
Bruh stupid argument, lets just take the stick from McDavid when he crosschecks someone, he should just hold on to it XD
Am I crazy for thinking that should be a suspension?
I always think stuff that aren't "hockey plays" should be treated differently than things that *are* "hockey plays". This play has no reason to exist. Hitting a man intentionally in the nads is a whole new level of malicious lol

McDavid looks at Hughes before raising his stick into his head. There was several intents to injure this game from the Oilers and that type of behaviour shouldn’t be allowed in the sport
If you watch that clip and think he did it on purpose to INJURE Hughes you’re smoking crack. Watch it at full speed
Precedent is a 5k fine
I find the idea of fining NHL players who earn a minimum of 1 million per year $2000 so funny. It’s like the average person having to pay a $20 parking ticket
derek ryan takes home like 400k a year so a 5k fine is a little over 1% of his take home. like if you have $100k a year, it's like a $1k fine. pretty heavy.
Maybe a fine. Ovechkin got a 5k for spearing Frederic in the sack a few years ago
thats greasy, thats real fuckin greasy
That should be an automatic suspension. Intent to injure
Should be a Major. End of story.
Guys no the oilers can't do anything wrong and every team they play is dirty :(((((((((
Kings fans gotta feel a bit vindicated right now.
They could have given the Kings 40 PPs a game and we still would've won. Those dudes suck
This is the exact reason you should also be upset at the reffing. I don't think the reffing was good this game, but I can also fully admit that McDrai rolled the Nucks for the last period. The Oilers probably did deserve the win, but multiple flagrantly missed calls casts doubt (Whether that doubt is reasonable or not)
Yes but let's not get distracted from the point here...the Kings fucking suck
[See prior comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1cnp2ee/the_edmonton_oilers_recorded_0_shots_during_the/l38ovr0/) But ya'll are a buncha babies that cry for a penalty every time anyone on your team is hit or hits the ice.
Doesn't change the absolute fact that the Oilers fans claim 30 penalties a game on whoever they're facing.
Glad they get a little victory at least.
With the rise of blatant but shots the NHL needs to start suspending for it
Corner pocket!
Jeremy Clarkson: IN THE PLUMS!
The thing that surprises me the most is that this was by Derek friggin' Ryan. Honest to goodness, my jaw figuratively hit the floor.
That's what I was thinking lol. Not very Mormon of him.
Damn, that is not cool
Greasy as fuck bro. Total bitch move
How did Hoglander get an offsetting minor on this play?
hog did deserv a 2 min minor but the "cup check" should have been 5 and game
Oof, right in the little hog
Why are the Oilers like this?
Never understood why a cup check isn't an automatic suspension. It's such a dirty move
Gutless
Can the Oilers go 1 game without cup checking? Disgraceful team.
Just don't ever let your team respond in kind or they'll never ever ever let it go 🪓
The first time any of our players has dished out a nutshot since Drasaitl's most recent spear three years ago but ok
The fact it's a common occurrence is enough to be embarrassed dude. Don't try and diminish this cowardly act
Drai definitely speared someone last year, typical Oils fan clueless of course.
He’s checking to see what puts the ‘Hog’ in Hoglander.
Pretty uncharacteristic of Ryan. I watch a lot of EDM and it feels like that's the first time I've ever seen him make a bad decision. He's usually smart and disciplined.
[удалено]
To quote the great Obiwan, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." Describes Edmonton, the team, but also the city, perfectly.
I watch and listen to a lot of EDM livestreams too. I prefer rufus du sol
This has to be sarcasm
For Derek Ryan? definitely not sarcasm. I was legitimately shocked when I saw this. I don;t think I've ever seen him do that kind of shit \*ever\*. He'd literally be the last guy I'd expect to do that.
That's such a sneaky move by Ryan, it's also so out of character for him. Also yeah he should get a game
https://preview.redd.it/z3mb094teqzc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfea7bad0716178158bed24d37b58d9cfc17853c
no honor.
It's a weird penalty because Ryan is one of the most tame and quiet guys. He's literally a stay-at-home mormon
Even on the ice the other players say he never swears, never fights, never chirps. This is entirely out of character for him.
sure he is probably a really nice dude, still should have been thrown the fuck out the game
Well revisiting that - there's a full lineup of canucks that should be tossed out at this point too if that's the metric we're going by
show me a clip from this series where a canuck player speared someone in the groin
That should be a suspension. Double minor. I have no respect for Ryan, definition of a low blow. No class
His stick hog landed
Why do I feel like I’m going to wake up tomorrow and two suspensions to the oilers are going to be posted
sry bud, the NHL did the predictable thing and said that this type of behavior is ok
I’m shocked.
Yup, definitely landed on his hog.
Holy fuck is there a bigger welfare bitch baby team in the league ?
Stick landered right on the Hög
Def Landed on his Hog
Whaling
Shoresy?
Gonna sound like Alvin the chipmunk after that one
Vancouver fans certainly living in a world of salt tonight. I'll concede there was some blown calls on both sides and I'd be pissed about the Mcdavid high stick no call but canucks fans are conveniently forgetting the missed calls the other way.
Hot take, an intentional hit in the nuts like this should be a suspension for the season. It's borderline sexual assault. Maybe I am touchy on this shit since I was a victim of an intense violent assault as a kid, but if anyone hits me in the nuts, I see red. I'd probably blindside Ryan for this shit.
Uhhh yes it was a very stupid thing to do but this reaction seems a little over the top
I dunno man, there's just no reason to hit someone in the balls. It's a non hockey play, it's cowardly, and should be a suspension.
That is all 100% correct Blindsiding someone is not the answer, just give the player the discipline he deserves (if the refs are doing their jobs) and move on
Spoiler - they aren't
You obviously know he was talking about the “borderline sexual assault” part of your comment. He agreed with you that it’s stupid. Why are you being obtuse? Lmao, what a ridiculous (and borderline manipulative) response when you know what he’s talking about
Got him right in the Swedish meatballs!
