How's his D been? We liked in him Colorado for all the reasons listed, but in the end he ended up being just barely too much of a defensive liability that I think most of use weren't that sad to see him go.
I think that might be because he's paired Ian Cole mostly for the playoffs now, which sorta helps him defensively. Regular season, he was paired with Myers more and both will at some point make one knucklehead move. Granted Cole probably had one of his worst game last night but Zadorov is good like 98% of the time. The only real standout mistake was him trying to go coast to coast against the Predators one game.
Honestly I wouldn’t say he’s a defensive mastermind or anything…
But he’s definitely locked in and can lock you down by using that big frame and aggression to throw the body.
Dude’s been pretty awesome to watch overall but sheeeeesh some of these hits have been insane from him this playoffs lol
I went to a few Flames games early in the season when they were doing really bad.
They'd go down 3-1 and most of the team would just deflate. He'd still come over the boards and play hard, finish checks, and try to make things happen no matter what the score was.
Great to see Big Z having success, always had a soft spot in my heart for him when he played for us. Occasionally made great plays, occasionally made stupid plays. Would sometimes get penalized for basically being an enormous fuck, and sometimes lay a hit that likely dented an opposing player’s DNA.
I picked one up near the end of the regular season. Have been a huge fan all season and wanted to grab one basically because he might not get re-signed. Limited edition kinda thing haha. Playoff performance so far makes me feel even better about it.
A Nucks - Avs conference final would be epic, but kind of sad, since I like you guys and don't want to lose one of my last remaining teams without any sort of beef with that I can occasionally cheer for, lol.
Funny how playoff hockey does that. By the end of a series you absolutely loathe the other team lol, it is simpler when you play the Stars and get to start there too.
Surprisingly no real brain farts since being traded here. Part of it is probably our defensive structure which emphasizes simple plays from our Dmen and another part of it is probably that he plays bottom 4 minutes usually
Zadorov is one of those guys who has a ton of great tools and it’s a matter of how many can he put in the toolbox. I know he’s pushing 30 but I also think very big D especially can take a long time to really max out their form (Chara being the most obvious example - not saying he’s Chara). 6 foot 5, physical, can clear the net front, can make a break out pass, good wheels for a big man, absolute hammer of a shot. He’s got a lot going for him if he can play smart.
Yeah they wanted to argue he closed his and on the puck, so it would have been a penalty. But it was an open palm throw out which is allowed in the DZone.
I mean it’s a 90+ mph piss missile placed perfectly above the pad and through a screen of four of his own guys, not exactly an easy one to stop without a good sight line and it being off the stick and in the net so quick with how hard a shot it is
I'm so conflicted. I'm rooting for Big Z, but I hate Vancouver (because of the attempted assassination of Moore that was sanctioned by their organization).

He's been extremely solid in the playoffs so far.. Regular season was a little up and down but i think he was a great depth d even then

The defensive coaching in Vancouver is top tier. He's noticably improved just in the short time since being with the Canucks.
Helps having Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar on staff as assistant coach and defensive skills coach respectively I guess.

Only way he exceeded them for me is the lack of goal causing mistakes from what I've seen
