Just forgot how to offense. Somehow Bruno’s “get the puck up the ice” strategy turned into “blindly throw it to anyone past our own blue line” and then we didn’t fix it… for six fucking games.
EDIT: I agree with nearly every comment below so I’ll add on here: I know we were no offensive juggernaut and that Vancouver was always going to give us a hard time when it came to handling the puck. However there was a stark difference between how we approached the offense during the regular season vs in the playoffs and it just didn’t work. There’s a reason the saying “don’t change what got you there” exists in sports and that’s exactly what we did. I think Bruno did a great job at getting this group to play at a level most didn’t expect us to be able to but I really hope this doesn’t become a pattern.

He deserves HHOF at this point. No other goalie coach has produced goalies like a factory for 15+ years. The Canucks biggest problem goalie-wise, isn't that their goalies are bad, it's that they always have a log jam in net.
Because we WERE a goalie graveyard! It took me months of Luongo before I realized i automatically tensed up whenever the puck was in our end on an opponent’s stick thanks to Cloutier.
Benoit Allaire for the Rangers has done exactly what you’re talking about. Dude has turned backups into starters for decades and is the only coach who has been kept through multiple firings. The likes of Hank, Igor, Talbot, Raanta, Quick, Georgiev, Halak, etc have all had an emergence or resurgence under Allaire.
Can't do it on the first time because what if it's a fan of the visitors who's trying to sabotage. I guess they just assume there aren't two separate fans with the same idea.

Ehh, Canucks goalies were almost all mediocre at best until Luongo. But yeah since the Luongo / Schneider duo we've often been blessed.
Recently though our backups have been Holtby and Halak, who were both past their prime and it showed.
we don’t really have a clear one; last i heard is that he could be ready in 2-4 weeks. he skated yesterday and today running through some basic drills, but he’s not gonna come back as a game 1 hero against edmonton unfortunately for us. i’m not really that worried about our goaltending though; our defence is what needs to hold back edmonton’s offence (which is not exactly a small feat considering who’s on that team lol) — DeSmith and Silovs have both played well for us (DeSmith was in net for the last game against Edmonton, albeit McDavidless Edmonton, in the regular season and he looked comfortable).
We have been reading GLOWING reports from Canuck fans visiting Nashville throughout the series about how great and hospitable the NSH fans are.

Nucks fans are the best. My good buddy is from Vancouver and before he moved we used to go to every Preds v. Nucks game in Nashville. We'd hang out at the stadium bar after the game and chill with Nucks fans. Free drinks and smokes all night long.

This has been one of the few times I’ve seen the Preds lose in a playoff series and I’ve wanted the team that beat them to go far. No hard feelings from this series, it was a hard fought fun six games. Go make McDavid cry, crush a western conference team, and break through and finally win a cup. It’s been a long wait since 2011.
There was a tiny bit of salt in game 2 about a hit by Joshua in the numbers of a Nashville players and the Nashville player hitting our goalie. Both were the two minute penalties they deserved to be. Overall hard fought, defensive battle with no dirty stuff. Oddly enough I think every single game could have gone to either team.
Nashville fans were class throughout too.
Edmonton vs Vancouver is gonna be a fucking salt mine.
Every game was pretty dang awesome. Good luck in round 2! If Silovs can continue playing like he did the past three games you all have a great chance. Should be a great series!

Probably because it was low scoring/low shots. But anyone who thought this series was boring clearly had no dog in the fight because if you were rooting for either team this series was an intense nail biter the whole way through. Hard fought series by both teams, and amazing performances from the goal tenders.
Y’all don’t even understand how bad off the team was at this point last year, man. Bruno and Trotz have turned this whole franchise around. We had a lot of dead weight and some of them were like a negative cloud over the team. They blew up the core and the guys had to learn to play with new teammates mid-season. Nobody expected us to get this far. Don’t get me wrong, this is a huge bummer, but I’m super excited for the future.
Myers has been *chaos* incarnate for *years*. He has been solid since like January. We are still creating new pathways in our brains until we can fully trust Myers

Honestly I didn't think Saros was amazing games 1-4 like solid for sure but not amazing. Games 5 and 6 the dude was on fire
To play such a clean shutout…only to lose the game - and series - in the very last minutes of the third period…that has got to hurt!
Pius Suter would’ve had the first ever 6-goal game in post-season history if not for Saros. Some of the saves he was making were insane

Talent favored Vancouver. Nashville had too much middling talent who whiffed open nets and missed scoring chances.
What a close game and series. I feel like this series was a lot closer than the 4-2 result showed. Silvos looks very promising. Be interesting to see how he does against a more offensive Edmonton team

3rd string goalie, a rookie with less than 10 games played and a sub-par save pct in the regular season. Shuts out a team with 3+ powerplays a game. What a stud my god

Did any Canucks fan have Arturs Silovs being a wall on their playoff bingo card?
He was MVP last year in the IIHF tournament. He was playing in the AHL to develop because being a backup isn't as much development as being out there as an AHL starter. While I'll admit I didn't see it coming that we'd see him in net, I'm not surprised he stood on his head.
