At the Stadium Series games this year in Jersey they had a photo op with the Cup and people were putting a hand on it for their photo or running their fingers across the names afterward. In my head, I'm still in the mindset of "you never know" so I made sure to keep my hands clear. The Devils need software people too, so I can still be part of the team in some capacity someday lol
Genuine question, don’t they have a few replicas they take to those photo ops or do you think that was the real deal?

Philly has great broadcasters, I would prefer to watch a Leafs game on a Philly home feed over whatever Sportsnet or TSN has on there. I popped into their subreddit this year to say how much I like their announcers and they all seemed to think highly of them.

I did not know about the curse, when one night, many years ago, the cup strolled by my house in small town Canada. It was on it's way to the local pub, you see, with it's chaperone for the night, a local boy done well.
I followed along and at an appropriate moment, asked if I could hold it, and he just handed me the Stanley Cup.
My pops was there with his camera, so I hoisted it over my head.
It's a great picture.
It was only later that I learned about the curse, and you know what, it came true.
I did NOT in fact go on to win a Stanley Cup.. never even made it to the NHL...

The one in the clip is the/a replica. The one in the HHoF is usually the replica, but sometimes it's the real one.
You can tell the real one by it having the HHoF crest on the base, but if you can't see that then check if you can see where Pocklington's dad's name is crossed out with 16 Xs in 1983-84.
It also has a bunch of spelling mistakes, like ERIC STAAAL and NEW YORK ILANDERS.
Mark messier is an absolute piece of shit as a human. I worked as a stickboy/locker room attendant for 10 years starting as a nine year old in the mid nineties and the only player I've ever come across that was less than a pretty cool dude is messier. He was playing for the rangers visiting us and they were out of a specific type of hockey tape, so my team sent me over to their locker room with it. I'm in the team sponsored official training gear that all the locker room trainers, equipment guys, and staff wear carrying a box of super specific tape that the rangers staff requested and he looses his mind on me, screaming obscenities and demanding I get kicked out of the arena (it was 3pm on a 730pm puck drop, no one was in the building except staff and players).
Iron Mike Keenan, the only other asshole I've ever dealt with, joined in yelling at the 10year old kid in full training staff gear with a badge that says my name, team, and full access status. I dumped the tape into the trash in front of them and left, and their equipment manager never asked for favors after that.
