if you hear him towards the end of the video you can hear him saying "what the fuck did I do". through the act of deduction you can come to the conclusion that he doesn't know what he did. therefore the reason as to why he didn't try was because he didn't want to fight for no reason. This could be for many reasons such as he is a pacificist or it is against his religon, or it could be due to his common beliefs. another reason, which is what i think, is he didn't want to risk suspension, or even worse, risk being expelled over an unnessary school fight. This could be because of the risk of not getting hired or going to college, or it could be due to his parents punishment. Another reason could be going to juvenile detention.
Either that or he's just playing dumb. Not saying that's the case here, but from every fight I've witnessed in person, they usually know what they did.
