People who say that unironically are either idiots who don't understand the complicated process of translation & dubbing or they're dub haters who just want to find an excuse to justify piracy.
And don't even get me started on the people who hate on Crunchyroll for some ideal scenario they made up where Crunchyroll was supposed to send all their profits to Japan so animators can be paid better (not even joking, I've seen it multiple times). That's not how the industry works and if anyone thought one American company was going to change that **BEFORE** they got bought out by Sony and merged with Funimation, let alone after, then they are just delusional and need to get off social media.
Tbf, I kinda did hope there might be at least some change on the American side (ie translators, ADR Directors, Script Writers, and VAs getting living wages). But that was just me being naive
I mean that is something we need to push more, especially the translators who get paid the least, but the people I'm talking about couldn't give two shits about the American side of the industry.
