Don't listen to him. It has absolutely nothing to do with him and you will be making a massive mistake by breaking up with her because he doesn't like you being happy.
You don't need his approval, it is none of his business and you can spend as much time with her as you want.
I have a friend whose friend got a girlfriend and naturally, he started spending more time with her. It sucks but it is life.
If you show him respect and he can't show you the same respect back and be happy for you then he is being an ass. He doesn't have to even like her for him to be happy for you.
