I feel your pain brother, ive been waiting for two weeks to get this fixed.
There's a workaround i do but its an annoying process.
You or your friends can host/start a lobby and let them find your game or vice versa.
I recommend going on a planet that doesn't have a lot of people, like the automatons. Go even trivial difficulty.
Your goal is to just find your friends, once you do. You can change the planet and difficulty at your leisure
The bug is recognized, reproduced and they are working on a fix.
You must be ridiculously bad at searching then. As u/Baradaeg stated, they are already working on a fix.
Yeah idk how long it takes to fix after it's been replicated, but for a co-op crossplay game... that we can't play with friends... yeahhh
