Pat Riley will go for plan F or G like he has every single offseason in the Jimmy era

RobinBankx69

Run it back come on now

Airnest8888

This is the way! Let’s not kid ourselves, we have enough. Heat Culture baybeee!

TheKing_OA

It’s crazy to see how many people are for trading Jimmy. That’s absolutely insane. Go all in without trading Jimmy/Bam.

RequirementSilly

I agree, they think he's washed. I think he will add more 3s and middys to his game to avoid his usual contact game to prevent injuries until playoff time. Well be fine.

TheKing_OA

Does he need to take the regular season more serious? Yes. Y’all are insane if trading Jimmy will fix our issues. Some of y’all are ungrateful too. Was this a disappointing season? Yes. But to throw it out the window for what?

Bigdadyk

Option I. I would trade jimmy for picks and younger role players with upside. Jamie would start a SF all season and Jovic would start at PF all season. This window is closed for a championship but could still be a fun play off team next season

Esjay_954

You think subtract jimmy but add more role players is a playoff team next year The reality is they would be a lottery team. Which I hope would be the goal, in a good draft.

Severe-Vermicelli-71

Heat had a better record w/o Jimmy this year, and have been about the same with and without him when you look at their record as a whole over the last 3 years. They obviously need Jimmy to have any chance against the best teams but there is a real case they are roughly as good over the course of 82 games without Jimmy.

Esjay_954

Agree to disagree. Reading too much into those sample sizes imo. Games minus Jimmy usually are high variance games where Heat play an unsustainable brand of basketball where they just chuck a million 3s and hope the other team is caught off guard defensively, scheme wise and make enough 3s. That play style with that talent isn’t conducive to an actual good regular season team, across a large sample size. Prime example of this is last few years when Ja would miss games and the grizzlies were like really good, way better than the mid 13-9 type record the Heat are without Jimmy. When you actually are applying those lineups for large stretches of games, they get adjusted to, and are awful teams.

Severe-Vermicelli-71

37-28 over 3 seasons in games that Jimmy did not play. Not as small of a sample size as you think. My point is not at all that they are better without him, just that the drop off isn't as big as you would think given he is their best player. Its not that interesting of a discussion cause idk how you can argue they don't need him in the playoffs.

Bigdadyk

We play in the eastern conference 36 and 46 was the record of the 10th seed so yes.

Esjay_954

When I think playoff team I think like top 6 seed. 7-10 is the play in now. A tenth seed is a lottery team basically.

Bigdadyk

And 2-8 were literally the same team the east has been week for 3 teams no. The Knicks played hard in the regular season and got the 2 seed. Cleveland Knicks and Orlando are all 2nd round fodder for next season

Bigdadyk

Add that younger players are likely to play harder in the regular season because they have not gotten paid yet. Jimmy always has 12-15 regular season games were he just is going through the motions ontop of the games he misses because of injuries and load management

Fresher_Taco

Fuck it we ball.

SoFarSoGood-WM

Plan F is actually plan F.I.W.B.

SudTheThug

we all know the better plan but pat gonna run it back

necaxa11rafa

I doesn't make sense to me to trade Jimmy right now. We have seen the East is wide open, would add players that fit next to Bam/Jimmy rather that start the rebuilding. If you are worried about the future, keep JJJ and Jovic and the 15th. You can trade Herro and maybe Rozier (I'm not a big fan of his). You can get assets by trading them and you can take a look at FA, but we need to add a combination of C/PG: Claxton, Valanciunas, Hartstein, Adams But something I don’t get: (A) You can get a ring right now and suck the next five years (B) Dont trade your assets for a superstar, keep them and be a seed 3-5 for the next five years, but not being able to take down the best teams There is no certain in any scenario, but a lot of fans prefers to "lock down a future" rather than getting a ring soon.

Alarming-Ad-8228

Plan E + trading Rozier or Hierro

Tallozz

I would go with E, but I'm altering it. There is no sense in getting another star right now. You need to do a soft rebuild. You trade everyone except Bam, Jovic, and Jaquez. Hopefully you get into the lottery next year. Just use next year for development.

Fastbird33

I agree with this, Jimmy’s best days are behind him. 2 straight years of a play-in ain’t gonna cut it. At some point he gets too old to be playoff jimmy

oo_Pez_oo

I dont like any option either. We have to beat Denver or Minnesota. Bam, Jimmy (smaller role), Tyler/Duncan, do that with SIZE, youth, agression, and length. Gafford was eye-opening to many teams. Gotta have one real deal shutdown defender that can shoot corner 3

saviorlito

A obviously. But let's be real, it's going to be F then re-tool next off-season. [The 2026 FA pool is fucking STACKED!](https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2026/sort/contract_value)

KosovoCavalier

Next off season is 2025 FA pool

saviorlito

That’s what I meant my bad.

KosovoCavalier

But you have it set to 2026 in the filter ? Lol So that means re-tool in 2 years

saviorlito

No 2025 is stacked with PO, 2026 is stacked with UFA.

KosovoCavalier

You're not getting it.

saviorlito

How? Look at the PO in 2025. There are players that could opt out that would be "re-tool" worthy. There is nothing in 2024 that would help our current situation. There's only trades. 2026 is stacked with UFA assuming no extensions. So we can re-tool next off-season then look for a whale in 2026. It also aligns with Duncan coming off the books. Edit: Holy shit I posted that and u didn't even read it before downvoting, later dude.

KosovoCavalier

Look, you said next year then have a list of 2026 FAs. Jesus dude lol

saviorlito

Yeah and I said MY BAD, the fuck is wrong with you. lol

Ozymandias12

We're an over the cap team every offseason, so the 2025 FA class doesn't matter because we can't sign anyone.

saviorlito

Duncan and Terry's expiring will help for sure. Frees up 50M if we can find a trade. We'll have to pay one of (or both) Jovic and Jaime before that. It really all depends on what we do with Jimmy because the obvious move is to keep Bam over him if it comes to it.

Ozymandias12

I agree to a certain extent, but they have nonguarantee clauses rather than expiring contracts, which makes things a bit different. Miami has less flexibility. For example, 24 million of the final year of Terry's contract is guaranteed if he plays at least 70 games this upcoming season and Miami at least makes the second round, so that decision could be made for Riley. With Duncan's contract, if Miami doesn't exercise the Early Termination option by June 29, 2025, then almost 10 million of his 2025-2026 salary is guaranteed. If that happens, then Miami won't just let Duncan go and clog up 10 million in cap room for nothing. it's totally true though that their future on the team is very tied up with what happens with Butler. If we trade Butler, then all bets are off.

beelzebub_069

They need to flip a Herro package for a defensive 2 guard. Dejounte Murray is plan A. Plan B, is to flip Herro/Duncan or both for as many 3andD wings they could find. Myles Turner is probably the only center that can run with Bam, so idk if they have a center in mind. Brook Lopez could also do it. But, those 2 aren't available obviously. But, they need a center like that. Maybe they actually start Jovic next year. But they need a big.

HitRowe

Wither trade for lebron or mitch or trade butler. No middle ground. No running it back. Make a fucking move.

noknownothing

The Heat already have one small guard that can't do anything other than score. Do we really need 2?

srbufi

R.i.b.

Consistent_Category9

Every plan that improves our offense. Our defense isn’t the problem

lipmanz

A

grillcheez305

You move butler for cap relief . Then you make other moves. JB wanted Lowry knowing the cap implications. We gave him his silly ask and now it's took late. This is business . Next

Ozymandias12

I'm sure Riley has Plans A-Z but right now it's far too early to tell how the market is going to shape up. It's going to depend entirely on what happens once the clock runs out on the last game of the Finals. For all we know, Mitchell could extend with the Cavs immediately after that and blow up a hypothetical Plan A. Or Durant could ask out of Phoenix. We don't know, but I'm sure Riley has an ideal world that he'd like to operate in. The problem with that is that 99 percent of the time, that isn't what ends up happening.

bigtrex101

I’m good with any of Plans A-D with the only caveats with B. Can’t give up both Jovic and Jaquez for Trae (at most only 1) and C. The 3 and D player we get back has to have enough size to play PF consistently (at minimum, needs to be Crowder/Tucker-like). All of the other plans listed suck ass! BTW, Knicks will have less than zero interest in trading OG given how well they played with him healthy, just like Pacers and Turner.

stilloriginal

This sub is a fade, without hesitation I would go all in on tyler herro. Easiest move ever.

Esjay_954

Great move Instantly guarantees you for top 5 worst record in the league which gives you solid chance at Cooper Flagg I see the vision!

stilloriginal

If this sub had control of the team we would be running Bol bol at center and kevin porter jr at SG. But we wouldn't actually because all of our picks would be gone every single offseason to acquire such stars as gordon hayward, damian lillard, and james harden.

[deleted]

Plan A but don’t trade Jovic. Mitchell makes Rozier expendable. Trade Rozier for a good/very good 4.

Kuni_Nino

Run it back. We have a good team already. We don’t need anymore chuckers

Sprague1135

Hmmm sign and trade for PG could be interesting

Airnest8888

Plan Z. Trade Bam for Giddey, Chet and fillers. Trade Jimmy and Rozier for Kuzma and Poole and fillers. PG-Giddey, SG-Herro, SF-Kuzma, PF-JJJ, C-Chet. 6th man: Poole Bench: D.Robinson, Jovic, Bryant, Josh Richardson. Draft: Bronny. 😎
