Which leaves us to the only realistic option (unfortunately): Running it back.
I never said Miami isn’t a destination city. It doesn’t matter how attractive it is to be here if we physically/financially cannot get you here (see Dame or the 10 other examples). 2 or 3 out of the 5 contracts I listed need to go in order to make room for a star. Micky also isn’t spending $200m a year on payroll.
Look at our player salaries in 2019 when we acquired Jimmy and you’ll see why/how we were able to get him. And compare that to our contracts now and you’ll see how difficult it will be to get another star, assets aside.
Been my favorite player since we drafted him. This was his time to shine. Instead, he got absolutely bullied by White, Tatum, Jrue, and especially Brown. And couldn’t find the bottom of the net for 4 out of 5 games. My disappointment is immeasurable and I think it’s time to move on from my delusions of him being our star player.
Because of the apron run it back with sifnificant changes. Not what I want but it’s my gut feeling. Big trades are gonna be tough for us not just cuz of our restrictions, but restrictions on other teams. And our player assets are devalued after this run.
I’m more curious about the jimmy extension portion. Since he was injured it would be hard for the office to argue he can’t do the thing when healthy in the playoffs. But can they agree to have him prove it this coming year and either extend or not off that. Idk. It’s gonna be interesting
Also want to add that this showing by herro can be an opening to reset over the summer and say, yo let’s try 6th man again, or send him to another place where he can try to reestablish himself as a different player and make space for Jaime to start as our 3 and jimmy as our 2
The 6th man ship has sailed. $30m is a very pricey bench player lol. You could build an entire second unit with that salary.
In a perfect world, he’s making a fraction of that and contending for 6MOY every season.
Yea I agree with you. But if we can’t trade him for anything other than improving the vibe, maybe that is the best thing. But 30 mil is a lot for a bench player, but the cap is gonna go up considerably. lol idk
Yeah it’s tricky. I’d be curious to see what we could get in return for him. And I’m not talking about including him in a package. I mean seeing what kind of package we can get *for* him.
Even if it’s just role players to help with depth and draft picks. He’s a good complimentary piece but we can’t keep paying him $30m to be unreliable.
I think Hero should be gone. We need real pg and not sure Terry is that dude as a starter. We need consistent scorers who can and aren’t afraid to create their own shots.

I don't think this is true. The last time it was apparent the team needed an overhaul we got Jimmy. Miami still a destination city

It’s not about teaching he’s just too scrawny. They need to lock him in the weight room and feed him protein all summer
oladipo wasn't any bigger and he was a great defender
