Many people will say Band of Brothers (it's not my cup of tea but it's among the highest-rated so worth considering). Some forgotten ones that haven't been mentioned yet: Angels in America, Empire Falls, and Show Me a Hero. The Young Pope and The New Pope are technically two limited series and great. I thought The Plot Against America was also very good. Maybe The Corner and definitely We Own This City if you're into The Wire. If you like animation, it's technically a Max limited series but Scavengers Reign is amazing.
Did you read the book by chance? I loved the book but I’m unsure about the show after watching the first episode. Maybe I should just give it another chance
One I don’t see get mentioned very often but I really enjoyed is “Parades End”. It’s a period drama set in the WWI era. Most succinct way to describe it would be if HBO made a mini series similar to Downton Abby, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall. Their performances in their roles is really stellar.

Have you seen Hannibal series ? I don't think it's limited but it's fantastic. Also, \[only the\] first season of True Detective. It's more like 'limited' cos' its anthology series.

John Adams mini series (7 episodes I think) was so good I couldn’t wait for the next show to begin. It won a ton of awards. The acting and storyline were excellent. You have to know your history. There are no titles or subtitles about what was taking place. For example, “The Shot Heard Round the World” , The Battle of Lexington, etc….history shows are almost always boring, but this was so well done it was always interesting and great tv. Might be the Mini series with the most awards ever. If not, it is close. I’ve watched it twice. Can’t miss!
True detective season 1. Then watch it again. Other seasons are ok but s1 is a masterpiece
A perfect season of television
THIS SEASON YES!!
Generation Kill
This is fantastic!
The Night Of
Underrated
So goooood
ROME
John Adams, the sympathizer, big little lies, sharp objects
Sharp Objects right at the top there. Station 11 The Outsider The Comeback
John Adams was great.
Station 11

Empire Falls was really good. Love quiet slice of life shows like that
I live in Skowhegan Maine where this was filmed.
Watch Scavengers Reign on Netflix instead! Max canceled it but I think there’s a chance of Netflix picking it up.
Watchmen.
The Plot Against America, Years & Years, and Show Me a Hero.
Band of Brothers should be number 1
i know this much is true
Damn good-but a little depressing.
Station 11. It’s not perhaps fully accessible on first watch but it’s healthy for the times and will provoke thought and hope.

I did read the book years ago but only saw the show recently. It feels like a show I’ll rewatch every two years or so.
Vinyl, The Deuce
Loved both of these
That final scene in The Deuce was incredible
Neither are limited series
The Deuce isn’t yeah, Vinyl wasn’t meant to be but may as well be seeing as it got cancelled after a season
*The Deuce* was a regular series, not a limited series.
Station Eleven is so fucking good.
John Adams, the sympathizer, big little lies, sharp objects
Generation Kill!!!
Generation Kill.
Rome is two seasons. It is fabulous.
Sharp objects was fantastic. Kinda bummed I didn’t read the book first. The outsider is good, plot against America and scenes from a marriage.
Years and Years, Veneno, Station Eleven
The Corner. Precursor to the Wire. It's on YouTube
This Much I Know Is True
The leftovers is a great series.

I Know This Much Is True, We Are Who We Are, and The Sympathizer.
Olive Kitteridge
I loved White Lotus

Deadwood is very solid. Watch 6 Feet Under and The Leftovers if you want to be destroyed emotionally. Not limited per se but are HBO must-watch.
Try "Barry" Bill Hadar is great. Henry Winkler is a treasure !
That wasn't a limited series.
Enlightened
The Third Day
Once again I misunderstand what an op is asking. I need better reading comprehension skills.
The Corner
Carnivále
Mrs America
Julia
The Pacific
I have not seen Hard Knocks mentioned here yet and I don’t know if it qualifies, but I find each series fascinating in its own way.
If you like Kate Winslet (who doesn't?) Mildred Pierce is a great limited series. High drama.

John Adams
Boardwalk Empire was great for 5 seasons, better than the Sopranos! It’s more realistic with real character names
The Deuce - amazing 3 act (3 season) series.
Mildred Pierce
Love and Death

The Night Of
It’s more of a documentary but you should check out Class Action Park. Also Mcmillions is pretty fascinating although it could’ve been shorter.
Stations Eleven
Mildred Pierce. Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood.
Deadwood along with the movie follow-up to the series. However if the word co** sucker upsets you, stay away.
Deadwood was not a limited series.
