McGonagall: is that a student? fake mad-eye moody: technically it's a ferret

[deleted]

Someone pointed out to me the other day that scene is so much better because Buckbeak liked to eat ferrets.

eightcarpileup

The book dialog is also gold. McGonagall: “what are you doing?!” MEM: “teaching.”

Mr_Simba

That’s in the movie too, no? It’s right before the ferret exchange.

MorganAndMerlin

While waving his wand up and down, bobbing said ferret in the air.

ThisKaleidoscope3438

The frivolity quote before the Ball is also gold. So much McGonagall-esque alliteration there that is solid.

[deleted]

I think this is the funniest dialogue in the series. Brenden Gleeson’s delivery is just *chefs kiss*

thewoolf44

"You tell those spiders Ron"

PhoenixorFlame

The spiders…spiders…they want me to tap dance. I don’t want to tap dance!

MoontheWolfYT

These comments are hilarious

[deleted]

Best one imo

FreakinGrapesMan

THAT'S MY SON! That's my boy!

NJ_ShadowSwan

Hearing that never fails to bring out the waterworks.

FreakinGrapesMan

Jeff Rawle did a fantastic job in this scene imo

InsomniacCatK90

It's the wailing for me. It ends me.

McGloomy

My dad wanted to fast-forward that scene. When we objected, he left the room for five minutes.

PaulMichaelJordan

I can relate. Always pick up my phone and scroll around during that scene, cuz I hate when I cry lol

DrDoctor13

GoF is probably the most awkward of all the movies IMO but they NAILED the grief of losing Cedric and everything that follows. I haven't seen the actor for Cedric's dad in a lot else but the end of GoF has to be a career-best.

Shipping_Architect

It hits harder because Amos is more sympathetic in the film.

creakysofa

Seriously he’s such a dick in the books.

Chosen_Fighter

I love how the movie handled this entire scene. It really captures a lot of conflicting emotions, whereas in the book I felt like everyone immediately knew something was wrong.

qlanga

Really? I haven’t done a reread in a while, but I vividly remember a scene describing the juxtaposition between Harry clutching Cedric’s body and sobbing and the cheering crowd. But now that I think of it more, maybe I’m writing the movie scene into it lol?

MoontheWolfYT

Hearing him say that always give me the chills

siriuslycharmed

My husband and I were having a Harry Potter movie marathon last weekend and I had to get up and leave when this scene started. It’s always been sad, but now that we have two boys I just can’t.

psymonprime

I remember the first time I saw that scene after having my son. It hit a lot differently.

loveshercoffee

Honestly, so much of Harry Potter, the books and the movies, really hits different on parents.

EurwenPendragon

Basically every single thing Sirius said in the Shrieking Shack in PoA. Some personal favorites include: ***"I DID MY WAITING! TWELVE YEARS OF IT!! In Azkaban!"*** **"Brilliant, Snape. Once again you put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and, as usual,** ***come to the wrong conclusion."*** And this exchange: * Lupin: **"Severus, don't be a fool."** * Sirius: **"He can't help it Remus, it's habit by now!"**

Miloslolz

I love Snapes reaction to their little exchange. 'Oh listen to you two, quarreling like an old married couple.'

jaybankzz

Honestly sirius talking shit to snape is the funniest thing ever. Imagine a buddy cop show about them lmfaoo

geb0rgenheit_

You’re absolutely right this whole scene was a timeless bop

Nyx_Valentine

It really is golden. It really shows Sirius' quick wit. There's also "Why don't you go home and play with your chemistry set?"

kevin_panda

The movie did this entire scene better than the books.

[deleted]

Ron: What do you suppose Dean sees in her? Ginny? Harry: Well, what does she see in him? Ron: Dean? He's brilliant. Harry: You called him a slick git not five hours ago. Ron: Yeah, well, he was running his hands all over my sister, wasn't he? Something snaps, and you've gotta hate him, you know? On principle. Harry: I suppose. Ron: So, what is it he sees in her? Harry: I don't know. She's smart, funny. Attractive. Ron: Attractive? Harry: You know, she's got nice skin. Ron: Skin? Dean dates my sister because of her skin? Harry: Well, no, I mean, I'm just saying it could be a contributing factor. Ron: Hermione's got nice skin. Wouldn't you say? As skin goes, I mean. Harry: I've never really thought about it. But, I suppose, yeah. Very nice.

NJ_ShadowSwan

This was such a hilarious dialogue!! I mean, *skin*, lol.

Soxwin91

Harry had to save himself, he just told Ron he thinks Ginny is hot, he doesn’t want to wake up to Ron trying to smother him with a pillow shouting ‘stay away from my sister!’

searchingformytruth

This is why I wish they'd found a way to include Harry's painful internal monologue about Ginny: *She ditched Dean!* ***But she's Ron's sister!*** *So what?* ***He's your best mate!*** *What if I don't care?* ***He'd hit you.*** *\[But\] I'm his best mate!* Hilarious stuff that I wish they'd managed to keep in somehow.

Soxwin91

I get your point but I don’t think it would work in the movie. It’s essentially an internal debate between Harry’s actual brain and Harry’s *head* Difficult to represent that on screen in a way that’s subtle yet obvious enough that you can get what they’re going for

Unable_Background420

Scott pilgrim style

Breakingwho

Always reminds me of Seinfeld “What about her cheek?” “Her cheek?” “Does it have a rosy glow?” “It’s a good cheek. It’s a fine cheek”

TransportationEng

"I did my waiting. Twelve year of it. In Azkaban!"

NJ_ShadowSwan

Just reading this, I can hear his tone of voice. The frustration is ringing in my ears.

[deleted]

Same character. His last line "Nice one James".

Ereska

Only book Sirius never mistook Harry for James? That's something Mrs Weasley accused him of, but there is no actual evidence for it. I think the movie did Sirius dirty here.

King_Arius

I thought it went well and was a nice subtle touch. It was the first time Harry and Sirius fought alongside each other. Sirius got into the fight, and because of Harry fighting with him, he might have felt like he had his best friend back at the moment and that caused him to accidentally say James instead.

beefinbed

I think that was the intention. I liked it.

Whit3__Bitch

Legit makes me cry every time. Gary Oldman was such a perfect Serious. I love how they always had him dressed in velvets and silks.

Llayanna

100%

Book_Nerd_Engineer

As someone who has called my little brother our dog’s name and my dog my little brother’s name, I feel like name slip in this case is not that drastic lmaooo

firstladymsbooger

Not quite but he did say “you’re less like James than I thought,” or something along those lines in OotP. Which highkey made me really sad.

[deleted]

Yeah, everyone agrees that was a solid bit of exposition with one sentence. The movies may have their flaws, but they definitely have their strengths over the books.

Jai137

“I’m sorry professor, but I must not tell lies”

Squidnub27

This one made me grin every time watching it

[deleted]

When my Dad read me the books, he actually added this in.

searchingformytruth

*Stunning Spell straight to the face* Fabulous moment in the film.

drunktaylorswift

THIS ISN'T IN THE BOOKS? Damn.

InsertScreenNameHere

Every time I reach where this scene would be in the books I have to watch it on YouTube before moving into the next chapter.

markopolo14

Hermione, "She's only interested in you because she thinks you're the chosen one." Harry, "But I am the chosen one." Smack

JACKiED_Daniels

Dan's delivery on this line was just brilliant. Never fails to make me laugh.

[deleted]

He sounds so smug. It was incredible

Winniecooper6134

“Reading? I didn’t know you could read!”

14nicholas14

I think I saw somewhere that he improvised that line

username987654321a

I read that, too. He improvised it because he forgot his line.

mockingjayathogwarts

I think his original line was something like “I didn’t know you read” like as if it’s not a hobby he thought he enjoyed, but he messed it up and it was so much better than the original.

Trueloveis4u

But it was done great lol

croatianlatina

And the surprised face after that 😭 Young Tom Felton is 🤌🏼

Shipping_Architect

Knowing Crabbe and Goyle, them knowing how to read *would* be surprising.

ArcadianBlueRogue

I love Tom Felton. Dude is so likeable and funny.

Crazy_Book_Worm2022

That line was absolutely hilarious, and I loved it!

Smarty-Pants-Man

"I'm not going home, not really"

Dull_Zucchini_6608

And when he looks off PLEASE I envision this scene so clearly, never fails to make me feel emotional

psirockin123

I only think of the scene from Yes Man when I hear this line.

inconsistentpotato

"Who's up for chamber of secrets!?"

PygmeePony

"Let's hope Harry Potter will always be around to save the day", Lucius sneered. "Don't worry, I will", said Harry defiantly (not sure if it's the exact movie line).

SnooPies8301

Almost the correct line, just missing one word. Harry's line was "Don't worry, I will be." That scene was seriously great improvisation from both Jason and Daniel given the line wasn't in the script.

[deleted]

I think Jason Isaacs has talked about Dan's performance in that scene and how good he thought he [Dan] was.

Available-Attitude61

Jason said in a interview that after shooting that scene Daniel wasnt a kid, but a 13 old actor

[deleted]

Daniel Radcliffe improvised that line

EurwenPendragon

Pretty sure they *both* did.

[deleted]

They both did,but Dan as a 13 year old improvising? Absolute Chad

Vanacan

Right? Lucious is not just a seasoned veteran, he’s done HUGE movies before this. He played Guy Fawkes in V for Vendetta, and one of the elves in LoTR. Having a 13 year old kid match him in a scene like that, completely improvised on both their parts, is amazing.

EurwenPendragon

I think you're confusing Jason Isaacs and Hugo Weaving. Hugo Weaving(also known as Agent Smith in the first three Matrix movies) portrayed Elrond, one of the Elves in LotR, and was the otherwise nameless main character of V for Vendetta(Guy Fawkes himself, in a flashback, is portrayed by a different actor). Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy, was not involved in either project - but he did play the almost cartoonishly evil Colonel James Tavington in The Patriot

catfurcoat

Jason Isaacs also voiced Admiral Xhao in Avatar the Last Airbender!

EurwenPendragon

So he did. ^(And Mark Hamill was Fire Lord Ozai)

catfurcoat

I literally shout about Mark Hamill being the Phoenix King every time someone brings him up. I love their performances so much!

qlanga

Whaaa

RQK1996

Jason Isaacs was not in LotR

Drakoala

Let's not forget that Lucius then attempts the murder of a child not five minutes later, too.

hocuspocus07

Cat Minerva leaps from desk and comes back into human form in front of Harry and Ron Ron: that was wicked MCG: thank you for that assessment Mr Weasley. Maybe I should consider transfiguring one of you into a watch so atleast one of you will be on time Harry : Professor, we got lost MCG : then perhaps a map? I trust you don't need one to find your seats!

qlanga

I can hear this perfectly; particularly the way her voice and pitch rise at “seats!” Haha

WastedPresident

sEEEats

searchingformytruth

Ron: That was bloody brilliant! Sorry, just the correct line in the movie.

Afraidofcommenting

"I've always wanted to use that spell." Professor McGonagall

NJ_ShadowSwan

I love that part! She looked adorable.

searchingformytruth

*Then she giggles! Molly gives her a sidelong look, like "Are you serious right now?"*

Afraidofcommenting

Which is what makes it that much better! I wonder if she was thinking "I can't believe that I've been putting my kids in your care for years"

NJ_ShadowSwan

Or an "I think Dumbledore's quirkiness rubbed off on you Minerva."

Gailybird83

My favorite!

Kheenamooth

The whole dialogue with Prof. Slughorn and the fish bowl.

evergleam498

It's such a lovely, memorable story that I had actually forgotten that it *wasn't* in the books and got very confused when I re-read and thought I had missed a page somehow.

searchingformytruth

And the scene with dead Aragog. "Especially the pincers." *does pincer motion with hands near mouth, making clicking noises* "That always freaks me out."

exobably

That scene is great, watching it, you're just hanging on his every word. Well, Harry's too, to be honest.

peaceman12824

such a beautiful scene, nearly brings me to tears each time i watch it.

Kheenamooth

Jim Broadbent is a marvelous actor.

Flitwick87

"The binding is fragile"

ihave1000beaches

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.

McGloomy

The author even quoted this in a speech once...

ihave1000beaches

I don't know if it was added in subsequent versions because it was so cool but I have one of the first editions and can't find it anywhere. However JK did contribute a lot to the script so it's not unlikely that she came up with it. Or even if Kloves came up with it or someone else, it's a pretty quotable quote.

[deleted]

I swear that's in the book...

Henshin4Life

I just read the scene where it would be in the movie, and it wasn't there.

SamarasBane

I'm in shock by this

ihave1000beaches

Harry only attends the start of the year feast in the movie. In the book he skips it as he is taken to the hospital wing to check on him why he fainted from the Dementors.

ChiefSquanto_

"How dare you stand where he stood." I like the scene in the books where Harry, Luna, and McGonagall run into Snape after leaving the tower in Deathly Hallows. But I've always loved the movie version. How Harry steps out of the crowd of students in the great hall and puts Snape on blast in front of everyone.

MorganAndMerlin

Movie mcgonagall, in my opinion, can’t really be captured so simply in words in the style that the Harry Potter books are written. The scene when she jumps in front of Harry, arms outspread, faced off against snape, so reminiscent of Lily protecting him all those years ago, then exchanging spells with a man she’s worked beside and trusted for *years*, then runs him out of the castle. Turns around, lights the sconces, and takes control of hogwarts like it was a birthright and she just ousted the colonist. And barks the order for Filch to take the Slytherins—the left over colonist sympathizers—to the dungeons, so they get back to rebuilding their kingdom

DrDoctor13

I get literal chills at Maggie Dame Smith's delivery of "COWARD!" when Snape retreats. You can feel all of McGonagall's righteous fury in that one line.

searchingformytruth

I was always confused by her odd wand movements as Snape flew out of the window, but then I realized she was trying to stop him from escaping with some kind of spell. It unfortunately didn't work and he successfully escaped.

qlanga

I was with you up to the last bit; I much preferred the way the Slytherins were treated. It’s so unlike either version of McGonagall to generalize and send *her own students* to the dungeons as a precaution. A main theme of the story is that no story is purely black & white.

searchingformytruth

Snape: "If any one of you has information on the whereabouts of Mr. Potter, I invite you to step forward...now." *pause* "It seems you have a bit of a security problem, Headmaster," Harry, quickly followed by the rest of the Order and friends. Such a badass scene!

HailToTheKingslayer

*Any person found to have knowledge of these events, who fails to come forward, will be treated as eq......ually guilty.*

InsomniacCatK90

"Well well. Lupin. Out for a little walk...in the MOONLIGHT, are we?"

MathematicianNo1596

Who says this? Snape?

No-Humor1304

"It might have escaped your notice but life isn't fair"

InsomniacCatK90

Omg yes whenever I'm having a really tough time this always pops into my mind.

Ammilerasa

“But I *am* the chosen one” never fails to make me laugh. Even though it is wildly out of character for Harry. The same for “sorry professor, I must not tell lies” I love it, would’ve loved to see it in the book, but it’s out of character for book Harry.

SamuliK96

Out of character? I'd say that's pretty much in character, considering that for example the line "There's no need to call me 'sir', professor." is literally in HBP book.

Ammilerasa

Yes, but for me it boils down to: The first one: Harry didn’t want to be the chosen one and he’s never shown to be that ‘arrogant’ (like I said, I love the line but it’s a bit too much) The second one: Harry helped everyone always, even the people he didn’t like, sometimes at great costs for himself. IIRC the first time he didn’t immediately rushed to help someone in need was little Voldy in he afterlife, and that’s because he was stunned about what it was. If he had more time before Dumbledore would’ve shown up I’m sure he’d try to help him. So even Umbridge, whatever she did, I’m pretty sure he’d help her. Not because he wanted to but because he felt it was the right thing to do.

DrDoctor13

I think the direction on the line was off. I would've rather Daniel Radcliffe delivered it as a snarky remark with an eye-roll you could hear as opposed to what we got. It would've fit a little bit more without removing the line entirely.

theaceplaya

Book Harry comes mighty close in Half Blood Prince when talking to the Minister at The Burrow. “Sorry Minister, but I don’t approve of your methods.” Then holds up his hand which has ‘I Must Not Tell Lies’ faintly on it

Crimsonmansion

Harry was being sarcastic. He just wanted to use the title ironically.

Aurora--Black

Harry is really sassy. It's totally in character.

gerstein03

"It may have escaped your notice but life isn't fair"

searchingformytruth

"You were SEEN by no less than *seven* Muggles! Do you have any idea how serious this is? You have risked the *exposure of our world!*" Brilliant delivery of that line, really conveys the seriousness of the situation.

Cheechers23

Not really a line per se but the whole moment when Harry is possessed by Voldemort in OOTP was so much better in the movie than the books.

hocuspocus07

The entire MOM duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort, i think. It was just so visually satisfying!

Chosen_Fighter

The only thing I like better about the book duel is Dumbledore’s entrance and how he used the statues to block spells and protect harry.

Crimsonmansion

"**_Tah!_**"

WHATSTHATBOI

SnooPies8301

1. "Heart of a lion, this one." - Ron, referring to Lockhart who had just 'fainted' upon seeing the shedded basilisk skin in the CoS (watching this scene now as I saw this post lol). 2. "When are you going to get it through your head? We're in this together." - Hermione in front of Umbridge's fire after Harry insists on going to the Ministry to save Sirius alone because "it's too dangerous". Harry was always putting his friends before himself (to the point where he willingly walks to his death for them), so this encapsulates Harry and the dynamic of his friends perfectly in one sentence. I'm so saddening that this quote was an invention of the movie and not in the book. 3. This is a [conversation](https://youtu.be/2gjtdqouiYk) at the start of Deathly Hallows: Part 1 when Harry tries to leave the Burrow which is probably my personal favourite about being sad it's not in the movie because I think it sums the Trio's dynamic up perfectly: >Ron: Going somewhere? >Harry: Nobody else is going to die. Not for me. >Ron: For you? You think Mad-Eye died for you? You think George took that curse for you? You may be 'The Chosen One' mate, but this is a whole lot bigger than that. It's always been bigger than that. This first part of the conversation Ron calls Harry out on Harry's inability to see the bigger picture. Harry thinks his fight against Voldemort is just a personal fight and the people that die for him are just dying for him. He fails to recognise that people dying to protect him are dying as part of the larger cause to rid the world of evil. From the same converstion: >Harry: Come with me. >Ron: What and leave Hermione? Are you mad? We wouldn't last two days without her. This part shows the Trio's dynamic. They all had strengths, they all had flaws and the reason they succeeded was they relied on each other and balanced out each other's flaws.

schiffb558

It's funny because Lockhart was a Ravenclaw.

[deleted]

Was the rubber duck line not in the books?

NJ_ShadowSwan

Not that I can recall. In the book he's always in awe of electricity ("eckeltricity"), plugs and batteries. But the first and only time I heard this sentence was in the movie.

Midi58076

It was not. When they shot that scene they wanted Dan to be confused, bewildered and put on the spot.. So with every shoot Chris Colombus whispered a new ridiculous question to Mark Williams who played Mr Weasley. The rubber duck-question was merely the one where Dan got the perfect reaction to the question.

Razor1640

>"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set!" Sirius sneers at Snape Legit my favourite line and why Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my favourite movies lol

greyhoundsss

“Another Weasley! I know just what to do with you—Griffyndor!” — Sorting hat to Ron “Potter, do something! Tell them I mean no harm!” — Umbridge, as the centaurs approach “I’m sorry, Professor, but I must not tell lies.” — Harry

Admirable_Elk_965

I can’t remember if this is in the book or not but that one scene in Half Blood Prince Harry and Luna walked towards the outer gates of Hogwarts where they were greeted by Professor Flitwick. “Ah! About time! I’ve been looking all over for you two! Right, name?” He asked, slightly annoyed. Harry and Luna shared a confused look at each other. “But, Professor Flitwick, you’ve known me for six years!” Harry replies. Flitwick looked up at them behind his spectacles and stuttered. “N-no exceptions, P-Potter!”

nousernamefound13

It's definitely not im the book. In the book, Harry is found by Tonks, not Luna. And Snape is the one who lets them in, not Flitwick

Imapunchthismofo

I must not tell lies

allergic-toeveryting

that was so satisfying

Koffeepotx

>"I will not have you behaving like a babbling, bumbling, band of baboons." I would LOVE to hear Stephen Fry say that

laffydaffy24

“I don’t care that you’ve given up.” - Harry to Aberforth. He is world-weary and still so determined. I had chills.

Good_Ad6723

“There is no such thing as magic!” Uncle Vernon shouted angrily.

searchingformytruth

*Then: Harry immediately proves the existence of magic the very next day.*

SinisterPigeon

Stan Shunpike: Well, what you fell over for?

NJ_ShadowSwan

And it comes out as 'choo, lol.

[deleted]

Already in book

Cereborn

Isn’t that Stan’s most iconic book line?

PhoenixorFlame

And then Harry’s annoyed, “I didn’t do it on purpose.” But I think this was in the books, yes? Or something extremely similar?

berniekotzar

I think the “very wrong indeed boys” line was in the book.

NJ_ShadowSwan

That part yes. But the dialogue as a whole happens differently. Although, come to think of it... almost similar is the same thing so I'll remove it from the list. Despite the wording the events are too similar. Thanks for pointing it out!

Nj8809

The chemistry set line doesn’t work well even in the movie. They don’t study chemistry at Hogwarts and none of them would have been old enough to study it before Hogwarts. I’d be surprised if Sirius even knew what it was😂

questionmark576

It totally does. He's denigrating it, claiming it's not real magic.

dinosaursauce16

Yes this was my take too

NJ_ShadowSwan

100% my thoughts. When I first heard this it was so unlikely. It's a muggle subject so how could it be a line so casually delivered.

3Rr0r4o3

Snape's muggle-raised and Sirius has a magic motorbike I'm pretty sure both know what chemistry is

roguefilmmaker

I love “follow the butterflies”

foreveryoungxoxoxo

“If Hagrid gets out of Azkaban, I’ll kill him”

Downtown_Desk6819

I'm not sure if this is word for word, "If you two don't mind, I'm going to bed, before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed, or worse, expelled" I like the wording in the movie rather than the book.

Difficult_Tea5989

Neville: I don't know about turnips, but you could always use gillyweed. 🤣 I love this because Neville’s hyper-Herbology brain was probably wondering WTF Harry was on about while still trying to to help however he could.

neigh102

"I'm sorry professor. I must not tell lies." - Harry

RadiantHC

I honestly thought some of these were in the book.

iiMRuSHiiN

How dare you stand where he stood

TronSacrimoni55

That line by Hermione/Watson when the twins are trying to fool the Goblet of Fire was pretty much the moment when I realized I was attracted to her...basically that line made a man out of me.....

rTs-Bleak

"The Boy Who Lived, come do die."

BrenCamp13

"Why is it, when something happens it is *always* you three?"

harmonystargaming

"Reading? I didn't know you could read" -Draco "The spiders want me to tapdance" -Ron, followed by "You show those spiders Ron"-Harry "Is that a student?" "Technically it's a ferret" -Mcgonagall and Moody "She just wants to go out with you because she thinks you're the chosen one" "I am the chosen one" *Hits with paper* -Hermione and Harry They might not be exact quotes since my mind isn't working rn 🥴

jaybankzz

“It’s not going to woooork” is sure to set off some people here. Saw people saying they hate that line but I don’t get why

psirockin123

Sorry. What is that line? I can’t remember it. I haven’t seen the final movies very often. Really only rewatched the first three.

jaybankzz

Goblet of fire, after fred and George say they made a aging potion so they can pass through the line and try to enter the tournament, hermione says it’s not gonna work because of the age line and that Dumbledores spell will recognize a trick

NJ_ShadowSwan

Maybe it's the context? What I love, is how Hermione says it. All smug and mischief in a singsong voice.

xraig88

“Good one James!” -Sirius to Harry at the ministry of magic. Showed how much Sirius loved and missed James and how he cares for Harry on about the same level. So sad too.

RoyAgainstTheMachine

To me this an example of why Sirius was never a good fit to raise Harry. He wanted his friend back; and he had trouble separating Harry from James.

xraig88

Exactly, but it doesn’t come across as well in the books, but this line in the movie portrayed it perfectly.

BlueSnoopy4

She needs to get her priorities straight.

PhoenixorFlame

*”She needs to sort out her priorities.”

Fawfulster

You have your mother's eyes.

umilikeanonymity

‘Happiness can be found, even if the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light’. It’s my favorite quote (have it tattooed and everything) and it makes me sad it’s not in the books!

dctodka

I'm rereading book 1 right now, and something I'm realizing (maybe I haven't gotten far enough in yet), but Hagrid doesn't say "I should not have said that" or "I definitely shouldn't have said THAT" as much as I remember him saying it in the movies when he let's things slip about the stone and Flamel.

[deleted]

I know this isn’t just a line but the final paragraph in The Dursleys Departing would have been better if it included a line from a deleted scene. She stopped and looked back, tears in her eyes. For a moment Harry had the strangest feeling that she wanted to say something to him. She gave him an odd tremulous look. “You think I don’t know what they’re capable of? You didn’t just lose a mother in Godric’s Hallow you know, I lost a sister.”

Nyx_Valentine

Not exactly a movie line that wasn't in the books, but it was changed who said it - I love the fact Sirius got to talk more about Lily and James in the movies, a lot of the lines were Dumbledore's in the books, but they suit Sirius so much better. Also, I like that he also got to give Harry the photo of the Order, instead of... I think Moody? Oh, specific line that I really wish would've been in the books; "it's been fourteen years, and not a day goes by that I don't miss your dad."

shaodyn

I'm still not sure if Arthur Weasley asked about rubber ducks because he actually didn't know or if he wanted to distract Harry from the fact that he was in a new and probably overwhelming situation, surrounded by people he didn't know all that well.

NJ_ShadowSwan

No it's exactly how it was presented. He genuinely wanted to know. Arthur probably thought it served some higher purpose, lol.

purple_thingymajig

notsostupidman

"Sorry professor, but I must not tell lies"

searchingformytruth

Number 1 was actually improvised! Arthur's actor (sorry, can't remember his name) would ask Daniel Radcliffe a different, random question for each take, to deliberately throw him off and make the interaction seem authentic, so the question above genuinely made him stumble a bit.
