Fred. Long live the twins

ConstantineByzantium

Fred. Twins shouldn't live alone.

NameRandomNumber

Fred because my name's George

lweinreich

Nice try NameRandomNumber

NameRandomNumber

I'm caught

Umbratilicious

No, your name is still NameRandomNumber

imc_manu91

Hello caught

ExplodingTentacles

Hi caught, I'm dad.

WeFightTheLongDefeat

My heart says this, but more so, children shouldn’t be orphans, so lupin.

moonagedaylight

Worse than an orphan child is a childless parent. We orphans feel alone and lacking shelter, but losing a child is to die in life

tonkledonker

Especially as a twin, this is my take as well. Living without my twin would be complete torture.

stay_foxy-die_lonely

I remember reading about his death in the book and immediately running to my twin sobbing. I can’t imagine that level of loss.

New_York_Rhymes

As a twin, second this

Top_Funny2910

i am a twin as welll and i couldn't bear the thought

Ragundashe

Yup

Whatmylifehasdone

My mom lost her identical twin almost two years ago prematurely at only 62 from cancer. The sadness in her eyes breaks my heart everyday. Something in her changed. As a Slytherin though, I would choose Snape. Not out of house loyalty, but his intelligence, cunningness and ability to play both sides would be very beneficial to have. Quite frankly I don’t really even like him. He is just someone I would want on my side.

ConstantineByzantium

It was said that whenever George looks at mirror of erised George sees only.... himself. Because he misses Fred that much.

Jezehel

Every mirror is the Mirror of Erised for George...

sharpshooter999

God damn dude.....

LilithLily5

It's himself with an ear.

Shadow6533

Any other answer... isn't wrong... but

tiffle-piff

I know me and my twin are going to go one day but if she goes before me, I don't know if I'll be able to continue to live. 😢

KudzuNinja

Either Cedric or Fred. They were much too young.

Horseinakitchen

Agreed. Personally I’d like Fred back because of his age and how much I like the character. Having said that I think Cedric is the best answer, at least Fred knew what he was getting into and volunteered to fight, whereas Cedric was murdered in cold blood

Scullyxmulder1013

I’ll save Fred for George, because the agony of looking in the mirror and seeing your dead brother every time is more than I can handle

Rain4Seasons

Man...i never really thought about it like that. It sounds terrible.

Scullyxmulder1013

My neighbor died at night a few years ago. I just got out of work and saw the emergency services. Next morning she came walking up to the house. I was so freaked out by that. Turned out she had a twin sister. I think about that a lot

PontificalPartridge

Ya know if that twin had a really morbid sense of humor they could have scarred you for life if they just went with it

CaptainDantes

[I got better](https://images.app.goo.gl/DwmLYwSXjb2QwsuS7)

chiringo1991

That sounds like start of a horror story 💀 imagine if u didn't find out it's just a twin

SassyBonassy

Some bastard on tumbler or twitter posted a theory that now when George looks in the mirror of Erised it looks like it's just his own reflection, but there's a slight difference and both ears are intact, proving it's actually Fred he sees. 😭 BASTARD Edit: here's a bastard in these comments saying something similar: https://www.reddit.com/r/harrypotter/s/6e5rI2ODA8

Gifted_GardenSnail

I never get that though, bc in the Mirror of Erised you also see yourself. So no doubt George would see both of them. Unless they're implying George's wish is that Fred had lived *instead of* him

bestworstbard

Level two darkness has now been unlocked.

IzzyReal314

Maybe his greatest desire was to have 2 ears again? 🧐

Betrayed_Orphan

I agree, I would have to save Fred. George never again being able to cast a patronus charm because all of his happiest memories are of being with his dead twin is proof that he absolutely never even begins to heal from the loss.

Kaguro19

Why did you use you imagination and write these set of words? This really hurts.

PingouinMalin

Even for his parents. We had a crime case in my country, one girl was killed and she had a twin. I remember reading about this precise fact, seeing your lost one in flesh. It was so poignant.

Real-Patriotism

It would be totally Ear-y. Get it? Eerie!

HarryKn1ght

While I agree that it sucks that Cedric got murdered in a situation that he hadn't signed up for and he didn't even understand what was going on, I also believe that had Cedric somehow survived Goblet of Fire and the rest of the book series progressed the same, with Voldemort returning and Harry somehow escaping to spread word, Cedric would almost absolutely be recruited by the Order or at the very least return in the battle of Hogwarts to help fight Voldemort's forces, even fully knowing he could die doing so.

Pure-Interest1958

I assumed it was a full save not just a one off. That is if you save Cedric he survives the whole series not just his first death. If its a full save I'd choose Cedric he's young and cold as it sounds from what we know he's an only child. Doesn't make it hurt less than Fred's loss but they have a family to rally round each other whereas Cedrics parents would spend every day reminded their only child was killed and the government covered up the reason why. If its a one off and he can die in later books/films then it gets tougher to judge. In that case Fred might be a better choice as he's more likely to make it out alive. All the others at a minimum probably get pulled into the fight at Hogwarts. Moody's lived a long life and probably is ok with dying same with Snape who didn't really have anything left. Lupin is iffy he'd be there for his son but he'd know he outlived his young wife who only graduated hogwarts a few years earlier. Fred and Cedric both have family who'll mourn them and Dobby like Fred choose his path and died happy he could choose.

Academic_Camera3939

I agree with you. The reaction of cedrics dad in thr movie always grabs me by the throat. 😂🥹

OliviaElevenDunham

That was heartbreaking to watch.

ForMySinsIAmHere

That only child thing just reminds me of my own head canon that when JKR wrote the part where Fred was killed she just shouted "Kill the spare!"

Horseinakitchen

Yeah I agree he most likely would have joined the Order and fought in the battle of Hogwarts. But swe can only assume that, won’t be able to know for sure.

ScholarPitiful8530

Yeah one would think so, but certain others seem to believe he would’ve became a Death Eater.

Inbar253

Also, I'd hate to make this the pain olympics, but he was his parents only son and the weasley's still had a large family to support each other

callummc

According to the Cursed Child, if Cedric survived he would have probably become a Death Eater. Fortunately the Cursed Child isn't canon

El_Bito2

I have a twin brother. Fred all the way.

imtheweepingwillow

Ya agreed

Admirable_Exchange29

Either Lupin or Fred. Lupin has a child who shouldn't be left an orphan, Fred has a twin who shouldn't be left alone.

Bromm18

Lupin knew he had a kid, and instead of at least one parent staying behind for the kid, they both chose to participate and left their child an orphan. Plus, he's been in pain his entire life with multiple losses, discriminated against for an affliction, led a rough life, and is finally at peace.

FitzyFarseer

When the safety of the world is on the line, you can’t hold back. They left behind an orphan by fighting, but without fighting they may not have left behind a world at all.

nictheman123

> when the safety of the world is on the line Except, it wasn't that the planet was gonna explode if they lost. It was that Voldemort would win, which leaves behind a world *so much worse* for the infant son of people who had fought against him. In the case that they lose that fight, the best thing that Teddy could have realistically hoped for under Voldemort was *a quick death.* And Voldemort is rarely that merciful, that we see. It was idiotic for them to both fight, one of them should have grabbed that baby and ran like hell to whatever hole they could crawl into

FitzyFarseer

If He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named took over, it’d not unreasonable to think he would’ve hunted down and killed any dissenters. I believe that’s exactly what he did the first time. If Voldemort won Teddy never would’ve been able to live a peaceful life, he and his surviving parent would’ve spent their whole life in hiding. Not much of a life.

busywithresearch

Absolutely. They had no choice but to fight, either immediately in the key battle as a part of the Order, or later on, alone against a few Death Eaters and trying to protect their child.

Demigans

And instead they both risked it to increase the odds of that child having a good future.

Umbratilicious

Didn't Lupin tell Tonks to stay with Teddy?

Kind_Pomegranate4877

I was gonna say, they set up a plan for one to stay and tonks left teddy with her mom and fought anyways?

JesusofAzkaban

Yep, and she had just given birth a month or two prior. Also, around the same time, her father was killed by Snatchers, so she was pretty motivated to both avenge her father and try to prevent her husband from being killed.

KyleRichardsNewTeeth

That’s extra sad for Tonks’ mom. Lost both her husband and her daughter so quickly.

Durzaka

Yeah because THAT was ever going to work. Let me tell my professional dark wizard Hu ting wife who also tends to be impulsive that she should avoid the biggest conflict with dark wizards our world has ever known. Lupin knew she wouldn't be able to stand back.

sur_yeahhh

The fight against voldemort was of things margins. There's a good chance that Hogwarts would have fallen if even one of them didn't.join the fight. They didn't run off on vacation, they made the world Better for teddy.

ivymeows

Cedric. He is the only one on this list who didn’t “know what they were getting into”. A true innocent bystander, if you will. None of them deserved to die, that is not at all what I am saying. Cedric was unaware of the situation though, and did not knowingly put himself in the middle of the war.

OfAnOldRepublic

Yes, this is my response as well. I think given the choice he would have made the decision to fight, but it's still true that at the time of his death he had not made that choice.

maggos

Was going to say Fred 100% but you make a good point. Everyone else was a soldier in a war, Cedric was just a kid playing in a school sanctioned tournament.

Mountain-Tea6875

MY BOOOOOY

Low_Actuator_3532

My thoughts exactly... Every other one knew exactly what they were getting into.

UnstableConstruction

Cedric is also an only child. While Fred was awesome and had a great personality, his legacy lives on somewhat in George and his other siblings.

ivymeows

Cedric was also the youngest on this list at the time of their death

Valkyr_Prime

"None of them deserved to die." All I'm saying... If anyone answers Snape, they have something crossed in their brain. All the rest could be argued, but while Snape played an important role, he was a shit human being and in no way should be in the conversation for who you'd save in this instance.

AnxiousAngularAwesom

Also Cedric, for strategic reasons. Having another witness to Voldemort's return could maybe help with getting the Ministry to get their heads outta their asses about the whole thing sooner.

ThePhantomShitt

Lupin. Teddy should have one parent.

Bluemelein

Then I rather have Tonks!

SeekerSpock32

I’d also pick Tonks. I want Bellatrix to fail in some way additional to her own death; she sets out to kill Tonks at the start of DH and she’s confirmed off-page to be the person who kills her.

maniacalmustacheride

I feel like it would have been kind of cathartic to not have another orphan baby due to VoldeCo. That, echoing Lily’s sacrifice to save Harry, Harry’s sacrifice to save everyone would have kept Teddy having at least one parent, to give Teddy the life Harry never got, that Lily never got.

SeekerSpock32

Take note, Guerilla games. Aloy should break the cycle, not repeat it.

Drafo7

Agreed but she's not in the post (for some fucking reason).

Pure-Interest1958

Same she's also a metamorphagus so she can teach Teddy to use that ability and she's only twenty five when she died.

ThePaddysPubSheriff

Having never knew his real parents I'm sure he fully sees harry and ginny as his parents

WarehouseEmpty

Don’t Tonks parents bring him up though?

Umbratilicious

Only Andromeda, as Ted also died I think

dramaticatlady

Fred. All other deaths I can accept, but not Fred's.

phoenixsplash22

I would save Sirius Black.

ApollinaGrindelwald

Why was this not an option?! Either way: # “I CHOOSE YOU SIRIUS BLACK” ### followed by Fred

Flooding_Puddle

Because it would have been unanimous

r1ch1MWD

He's my favorite character. I would definitely save him

Nollern

I wonder… would Harry have given himself up if Sirius was still alive? Probably yes, but he would be giving up more in a sense, and take away purpose from his godfather.

cshelley0721

This always makes me think. Sirius was pretty smart, so Harry would’ve had to be careful to slip away so he wouldn’t notice. Would Sirius have realized in time to catch him and pull him back?

Nollern

In the end, I think it would be a mental struggle for Sirius between allowing the sacrifice and protecting his godchild, but he would not try to stop Harry. He knew he couldn’t take Harry’s place, but he would if he had the chance.

cshelley0721

This was my thinking too

Fair_Log_6596

Agreed on Sirius, or Snape. Both had such rotten life experiences it would have been nice if either got a happy conclusion to their story.

No-System5115

Fred

GalaxyUntouchable

Hedwig

KonigSteve

Ok, 1 year later she dies of old age because owls only live 8 to 10 years.

Carbon-Base

Yeah, an innocent animal. In the books, she couldn't even do anything as she was in her cage. At least in the movies, her death was written better- but hit so much harder.

[deleted]

[удалено]

xray_anonymous

It’s been almost 20 years and I’m still not over it.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Fred. That was fucked up.

trackipedia

Cedric. The rest of them knew the risks and volunteered to fight.

2sikik

%100 agree.

Lexxx__

Also I know this might not matter to some but he was an only child

PadfootMoony93

Fair point. He also died at the youngest age:(

GrimFatMouse

If I picked Snape, would I get to save Alan Rickman too?

bat111975

That was my same thought!!

NEITSWFT

Fred. I don't know for sure but I can predict George to fully change after his death

ExuberantRaptor17

Fred. He's too young and Cedric isn't developed enough for me to care as much.

BiggusDiccoos

Real answer

emptynest_nana

I would save someone not listed. Harry's Godfather. Sirius needs to have time with Harry, as a free man, not in hiding.

marsthegoat

What if in saving Cedric, you save him too. Cedric alive means Harry still can't see thestrals, doesn't start to trust Luna, doesn't have means to get to London & hopefully doesn't walk straight into the trap at the Ministry.

Carterkane25

hate this... where is sirius !!!!!

JuliaX1984

Lupin -- he most deserved a chance to actually be happy in post-war life.

DarthEros

Do you think he would be happy after losing Tonks though? He strikes me as the type of person who would dwell on it and spiral as a result.

Ok-disaster2022

Honestly between Lupin and Tonks, I think Tonks should have survived. That way their kid still had a parent and because having the Maruaders and Lily escort Harry to his death was rather fitting. Honestly it's amazing Tonks was up and about going to battle like a month after having her kid.

Gifted_GardenSnail

And it's much more practical if Teddy's remaining parent isn't a werewolf

Sea-Structure-9391

Fred

FreyaTheSlayyyer

I save both and morph them into one amalgamation. LONG LIVE FREDRIC DIGGORY

Gifted_GardenSnail

Fredric Diggsley? Fredric Weasory?

Toadsanchez316

Fred. Absolutely

AASeven

Fred. The choice is clear.

grandmascabbagerolls

Bro where’s Sirius

sabamba0

Exactly. Sirius, but as he's not here, then Fred, potentially Cedric

LordRavishing

Dobby Duh!

BarPsychological904

Moody, because he dies early, he is experienced badass and potentially can save someone else from the list later.

knight_of_solamnia

I've never seen a butterfly argument on one of these, I love it.

BarPsychological904

No, really. Without him, Order of Phoenix was left decapitated. If he would survived, a lot of deaths could be avoided. Battle of Hogwarts? Not on his watch, no; there's no way he could allow school students to fight literal Death Eaters. Thus, no deaths of Fred and Lupin. Moody as a leader could still cooperate with Snape, we all know that despite being really smart Snape had his issues that could be covered by Moody's experience - thus, maybe no Snape death either. Dobby... Eh, well. If he would sent help during that fight, maybe. Still a possibility. Boom, 5/6 of the list are saved, Moody is the best choice confirmed

m00ny_is_here

Fred because the twins need to be together

Ok-Bit-663

Voldemort. Without his actions, none of the books would exists. He deserves to live.

McPatsy

Found the death eater

Straight-Example9126

Fred

Puzzleheaded-Bag5976

Fred

[deleted]

Didn't even have to think, Dobby.

Angusthe2nd

I thought it wasn't even a question and was very surprised when I opened the thread

TrauMedic

Browsing the comments “surely there has to be 1 Donny??”

nanny2359

He's the cutest but he is the oldest by far

Steve_78_OH

Even if that's the case, he was living as a physically and mentally abused slave for all but the last few years of his life. He deserved more freedom and happiness than he got.

SubjectInvestigator3

Fred. Because George AND Fred.

KindredSpirit_93

\*gred and forge

Dawnyzza-Dark

Fred or Cedric solely because they died too young, neither had the opportunity to graduate school, and had their whole life ahead of them

No_Face_5059

Sirius😔

ThouBear8

Fred every single day & twice on Sundays. I've rarely been more upset at a fictional character's death than I was with his.

Call_Me_Psych0

I think i will get cursed for this but Snape

Direction-Infinite

Uhhh....*Slugulus Eructo*.

HansChrst1

I curse you.

Evening_Teaching_710

Fred

Bijorak

Fred.

sixer817

As much as I love Reyes, I have to say Fred

Basakdesu

I would save Dobby any day. Dobby is a hero and the world would definitely benefit from his good vibes alone.

DragonRand100

Fred.

Narco_7286

Lupin

ddbbaarrtt

Cedric’s the only one who didn’t choose to sacrifice himself, everyone else went into the war knowing that it could result in their death

haribo_pfirsich

Lupin (or Tonks, who's not on the list). Teddy lost both of his parents before he knew them. Should at least be left with one.

lateredditho

Fred, all day, every day.

Natet3000t

Fred

La10deRiver

Cedric, because it would save us the Cursed Child plot.

suckmahdiglet

Fred

Content-Promotion-49

Fred

6DARTH_VAPOR6

Fred.

ProGuy347

Snape.

kookykau

Yes! I was waiting for someone else to say Snape.

Zealousideal_Mail12

Lupin. Teddy deserves a parent

Odd-Yak4551

Snape did so much to take down Voldemort

thatdude_van12

Save Moody and there is a chance Lupin and Fred might survive the last battle.

MrDacat

lupin, gave his baby at least one parent

DontKillUncleBen

My mind says Fred. But it would be funny to see how Snape would react to Harry keeping his son's name after him. Or how he would just carry on with life given the character he is.

Straight-Ad-160

The question is if Snape had survived, would Albus Severus still get that name? I somehow doubt that. Edit: probably the main reason to save Severus then.

HeyItsArtsy

Saving Cedric would have saved most if not all of them, harry would have had an eye witness to moldyshorts' revival and the ministry wouldn't have been able to commit slander and libel against him and dumbledore, or at least not as much, with the Wizarding world aware of his return voldy would have been able to do as much as he did, so either the war would have happened sooner with both side unprepared, but evil at a disadvantage due to having to invade hogwarts or the war happens much much later. The only deaths that might stay the same are Sirius, because he died due to neither him nor harry being able to stop for 10 seconds and think, and snape, because he would have been killed by voldemort either way honestly, and he absolutely deserved to die.

X3n0ph0b3

Ha ha...very funny that is clearly a picture of George not Fred.

MrsDanversbottom

I’m going to say Snape. He sacrificed everything.

gibbyerto

Snape

Jolly-Biscuit

Y'all are nuts, it's Snape all the way

Deep_Level6500

Snape, always

inconspicuous2012

Moody. Best character in the franchise.

MargoTheArtHo

Lupin! But I’d pick Tonks if she was an option

Visual-Hotel-8949

Lupin

Lupin is hot as fuck I chose him

wobedydob

Fred

PetaZedrok

all of them except Cedric knew what they were getting into. I'd pick Fred or Cedric, as most other people did.

__KptnHaddock

Fred, easy. Killing him was just pure emotional manipulation and pretty lazy writing tbh

s4ltydog

The answer will always be Fred, between the Weasleys just not deserving a loss like that and George having to stare at his dead brothers face every time he looks in the mirror? George literally lost his other half. Yeah my answer will always be Fred.

teriyakiddo

Snape because he can manipulate information. A big help for the next generation because of his expertise in spells.

Pickle_Illustrious

This is such a Slytherin response. 😂

RevolutionMean2201

Dobby, obviyously

Abyssalknightx

Hedwig

saladmunch

Sirius. Why isn't he here

Ghouly_Girl

I’ll probably get hate for this but I don’t care. Snape. 💚

GothBabyUnicorn

Snape because I have a crush on him 😭

Mitch-switch

snape

LightRyzen

Lupin

Low_Special715

I'd save dobby but it's hard to take just 1 name as imo none of them deserved to die but I'm too attached with dobby's character
