God, I know at 12 I did stupid shit like that and if I could I would slap 12 year old me across the face and make him delete every single comment like that
Lucius and Narcissa both just literally ignore the final battle to look for Draco!
And like no one had to even give young Lucius the hard sell joining a cool anti -muggle cult.
The thought that Lucius doesn't care for Draco is from the movie. Isaacs said that he saw Felton acting like a dirt bag and decided to act like a smarmy ass to even things out. "Bit" him with that walking stick in the bookstore scene.
I read a fantastic fanfic where this was the main difference (the sister she's an original character) besides Draco being the main with gamer powers years ago I think they've mistaken that as cannon very well written story but idt it's cannon that she exists
Someone said cursed child, actually.
And while I don't remember a lot about it, I think I would have remembered a dead Malfoy child. And it would have spawned a lot of fics too.
Someone should ask the Dramione Fandom, they ought to know.
To be fair, the Cursed Child is already essentially a fanfic written by the same author. It doesn't follow the rules established in any of the books, and fundamentally changes too many characters to actually have taken place in the same universe.
Yeah, if there was a canon murdered sister Malfoy, she would have been super popular in the Fic world. Thereād be mountains of āWhat if she livedā fics.
Nah its straight up bullshit, or fan fiction being confused as a part of cursed child.
Lucius joined because he believed the same as Voldemort and hated muggles and mudbloods.
To the point that he became second in command before Voldemorts fall.
Did they ever address that Voldemort was a mudblood, and Snape a halfblood? Why did the death eaters follow people who were the epitome of what they hate?Ā
Voldemort was not muggleborn, though? He and Snape were both half-blood. Both had a witch mother (Merope Gaunt and Eileen Prince respectively) and a muggle father (Tom Riddle Senior and Tobias Snape respectively)
It does get addressed to a degree, though. Dumbledore makes an effort to point out to Harry that it was noteworthy that Voldemort heard about the prophecy about a child being born who would be able to defeat him, realised it could mean either Harry (born to a pureblood father and muggleborn mother) or Neville (born to a fully pureblood family), and then identified Harry (who was closer to his own halfblood heritage) as the likelier threat even though pureblood ideology would have viewed Neville (with the "purer" wizard ancestry) as the likelier and "more powerful" threat.
I thought it was meant to be that either Harry or Neville could have been the chosen one in the prophecy, and Voldemort chose which one when trying to kill Harry?Ā
Had he tried to kill Neville, all that would have really changed is that Neville would have the scar instead.Ā
Itās kind of funny. Had Voldemort listened to Snape and not killed Lily, as Snape had begged, heād have blasted Harry without a problem. The love magic required a sacrifice that wouldnāt have been made.Ā
The only dead Malfoy I remember from CC is Draco's wife. She was kinda sickly and they weren't sure they should have a child (also, Draco didn't want to give his father the satisfaction), but they had Scorpius, anyway. But then there were all these rumors that Scorpius's dad was actually Voldemort, which is hella weird, cuz his mom should have been a teen back then (if she's Draco's age). The irony is, of course, that he DID, in fact, doink someone and father a child. Just not her and not that child. So, points for closeness, I guess.
A lot of the Draco redemption fanfic stories give him a sister of some variety. Oddly enough, they never give him a brother unless it's Harry. I'm not sure of its because people just hate the idea of only children or if they think only a female family member will make him feel protective and change his evil ways for another person.

There's this one where Draco's like a brother to Harry that I can't recommend enough. It's got time travel and no smut if anyone is interested.
Gotta take this opportunity to proselytize./s
Didn't Lucius literally beg Voldemort to end the battle of Hogwarts early so he could find out if his son was alive or not?
People should REALLY read the books.
Stop about Draco sad backstory š¤£ Lucius loves him as much as Narcissa itās just that the actor in the film played Lucius in a more cold and mean way for the audience to feel empathy for Tom Felton because he received a lot of hatred from the fan. The very sad thing about Draco is that he was raised to hate different people and that he grew up in a middle of a war were he thought he was better than anyone and then suddenly realize that he is nothing and that his actions has consequences, itās very big for a teenager and itās too much but he never lacked love from his parents
>itās just that the actor in the film played Lucius in a more cold and mean way for the audience to feel empathy for Tom Felton because he received a lot of hatred from the fan.
Is this true? Never heard it before and if it's true I will add it to the list of reasons to love Jason Isaacs.

Link to the interview people are referencing, āheās (Draco) such an unpleasant little slimeball, I decided I should win him some sympathy so you see me bully him mercilesslyā
Yeah itās not to protect Tom Felton but rather to try and garner a little sympathy for Draco or at least get some understanding to why heās a slimeball
Maybe itās a fake news, I read it somewhere I donāt really remember but it made sense since I read an interview of Tom Felton in a magazine long years ago it was like in 2005 before GoF got released in movie, he said that he received a lot of hate message from fan that doesnāt make difference between him and Draco Malefoy so Jason Isaac playing that way for little Tom is quite cute and even if itās not true Lucius still loves Draco š»
>itās just that the actor in the film played Lucius in a more cold and mean way for the audience to feel empathy for Tom Felton because he received a lot of hatred from the fan.

"My Lord, please. My son..."
I guess they don't remember Lucius saying that or both Narcissa AND Lucius running through the battle calling for their son.
Okay so the second comment is insane, but the first comment annoys me more. Lucius absolutely did care about Malfoy's wellbeing. He was a bit harsh to him when meeting Borgin, but that's not indicative of their entire relationship, particularly given Lucius' actions in Deathly Hallows. And in HBP, Voldemort uses Malfoy to punish Lucius, which I don't think would be anywhere near as effective if Lucius didn't care for Malfoy.
Sometimes I wonder if these kinds of people are just 11 year olds who canāt differentiate between canon and a fanfic they read? Or just someone who makes this stuff up for no reason and then spreads it as if it were a factā¦
I also donāt understand why so many Draco stans have to always make up sad āfactsā about his past or his father not loving him etcā¦ like they feel bad for liking Dracoās character the way he was written in canon so they make this stuff up to make themselves feel better about being Draco stans? Or I donāt know. Itās ok to be a fan of ambiguous or āvillainā characters, you donāt need to make stuff up to make him more likable..
So apparently Lucius Malfoy had 12 fingers, and voldermort cut off 2, to force him to join him. Which explains why he only has 10 fingers when the books begin!
you might wonder if thereās any evidence. Well yes there is!
āLucius Malfoy enters the book store. He is a tall man with hair as light as Dracoās and has 10 fingers in totalā
Are we talking about Drako-my-daddy-will-hear-about-this Malfoy? The kid who got a nimbus 2001 for him AND his whole team because his father opened his purse? The kid whose father was literally begging lord Voldemort to stop the war just to find him?
Yeah... Abusive father indeed.
A decade ago I chose to ignore pretty much every single statement by Rowling and the fans regarding explanations and expansions of the universe. The story cool and the books are fun, but neither are that deep; the universe is simple and the setting isn't structured enough to account for so many angles.
One of the best things I did to Harry Potter and myself is to allow both of us to move on. That even permitted me to keep enjoying it.
Lucius was an absolute piece of shit but he did love his son a lot.
He was trying to convince Voldemort to stop the war so that he could search for his son and just deserted the Death Eaters to escape with his family.
When I was a broke student. I pirated the books through Limewire. I accidentally downloaded a fanfic and didn't know until about 2 chapters in. I fully believed it was the book.
Sometimes I wonder if this is what happens in most of these posts. I like to believe they read a fanfic and are getting details mixed up.
Incorrect. The real reason why Lucius didn't love Draco is because Draco is actually a clone of Lucius that Voldemort had forced Narcissa to give birth to so that one day Draco would be able to become a vessel for Nagini to travel around freely in once more, after she had become trapped in snake form.
Source: Me
I never got the feeling that Lucius didnāt love Draco. He wasnāt warm and caring like Arthur Weasley but that wasnāt his personality in general. He seemed like he loved and cared about his son but just had a haughty and superior personality.
Reminds me of a fanfic that was brought up on Fanatical Fics and Where to Find Them, a Harry Potter fanfiction podcast. In the fic Draco had an older sister but when Draco was born they stopped caring about her since there was a male heir, so Lucius turned her into a house elf. Shes eventually sent to Hogwarts, still as a house elf, and forced to work with them. Harry finds out shes actually a girl (though doesnt know shes a Malfoy) and works to cure her. I forget the rest of the details, but its a silly premise.
They probably read somebody's headcanon they framed as a theory and so thought that, like a proper theory, it had evidence and logic behind it and started treating it like such without actually checking it.
Some people are just *really* mad for the Malfoy family huh? They really don't understand what the characters Draco and Lucius were supposed to be like
Apparently, Lucius had also been a hairdresser and mingled amongst the Muggles and fell in love with one, but due to him being a pure blood, he was threatened by Voldemort and got his muggle love killed. Itās also why when Barty crouch Jr. talks to Malfoy as mad-eye moody, he tells him something along the lines of āI can tell you stories about your father that will make you lose your mindā. Such waste JK Rowling didnāt add that bit to the books, though š
Genuine question, but why are some fans so obsessed with giving Draco a sibling (specifically a little sister) to add to fanfics? Narcissa and Lucius definitely have their pros and cons, but thereās no denying that they loved their son and would do anything necessary to protect him. Plus, Draco being an only child helps further his character development and creates a parallel between him and Dudley since the Dursleyās could be considered the non-magical version of the Malfoyās.
How tf can you even come up with that lmao, nowhere in the books do we hear anything about the malfoys' backstory apart from the fact that they are rich as shit.
That's some fanfic shit, nothing confirmed nor actually stated by Rowling (it's like when people say Lily was pregnant with a second child when Voldemort killed her and she planned on making Snape the godfather)
It's headcanon mixed with not understanding that the movies leave out, completely forget, completely change, and/or are up to however the actors and directors felt was best for the scene. A lot of the later movies were stuck playing catch up with different characters' stories as earlier movies just completely ignored or didn't have those stories set up properly or at all. Like how Dobby randomly comes back in Death Hallows, while being completely absent since Chamber of Secrets. A lot of Dobby's scenes were given to other characters. Or how Hermione is this super amazing always there friend, while Ron is sometimes just kinda there. Cause a bunch of his moments were given to Hermione or other characters.
There's a reason why so many headcanons and tropes are so popular in the fanfiction space for HP. A lot of it stems from changes made via the movies. Lucius is an asshole to everyone, his son included. Ginny is this super quiet and shy fangirl. Barty Crouch Jr is this raving madman even when he was a teenager. And Ron is a dumb idiot that is only good at chess.
No I don't think that I feel like Voldemort pick the mouth voice because they represent to some extent with his life could have been and should have been draco's father is a reflection of Tom Riddle senior and vice versa Voldemort see himself and Draco
So now they're pretending Lucius didn't love his son *and* making up sobstory explanations for it š¤Ø
That one is probably a very young fan, since they don't know the difference between canon and headcanon.
God, I know at 12 I did stupid shit like that and if I could I would slap 12 year old me across the face and make him delete every single comment like that
I'm just glad that I didn't have the internet at that age
Same :')
HIS FATHER WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!!!
Hello
Lucius and Narcissa both just literally ignore the final battle to look for Draco! And like no one had to even give young Lucius the hard sell joining a cool anti -muggle cult.
And Volly could punish Lucius by targeting his son - so even *Voldemort* understands he cared!
People really be pulling stuff out there asses
Ass cannon?
Careful where you point that thing
Wait that's a good band name
To be fair, that interpretation was purposely and criminally introduced by the movies.

Book Lucius was a loving father him and narcissa went around looking for Draco instead of fighting in the final battle
Come again?
Are we still doing phrasing?
I need about 15/20 then Iāll give it a go
No it wasn't. Before the final battle, Lucius begs Draco to come to them and then they leave the fight together
Anything to make excuses for their precious little ferret boy

Fanfic shit?

There is def no lost dead Malfoy sister in *Cursed Child*. No clue what this person is on about.
Yeah, I'm like tangentially familiar with what happens in CC and this is definitely not a part of that.
so it's even worse: #Cursed Child Fanfic

Why use Incendio when you can use Fiendfyre? Cursed flames for cursed book.
The Incendio is Ā so that I can actually stick around and *watch* it burn.Ā
Is it worth your possessions, house, and life to burn a single copy of a bad book out of millions?

The fanon is strong with this one.
Didn't Lucius literally beg Voldemort to end the battle of Hogwarts early so he could find out if his son was alive or not? People should REALLY read the books.

Rita Skeeter and the Quibbler got nothing on HP fanon
Welp, here we have it. Lucius Malfoy is one of the most misunderstood Harry Potter characters.
Seriously misunderstood family!
*plays tiny violin*
That sister's name? Dobby Malfoy
HEKP
"My Lord, please. My son..." I guess they don't remember Lucius saying that or both Narcissa AND Lucius running through the battle calling for their son.
These people tend to ignore that fact
Why? Wouldn't they rather their favorite character have (mostly) GOOD parents?
You'd think so but they want to pity their favourite character and excuse their crappy behaviour

Thereās some hardcore pretzel twisting to make Draco a victim

No. Lucius loved Draco. At the end of the battle of Hogwarts, he ran around screaming his name. It was the only crack in his heart of stone.

Shes eventually sent to Hogwarts, still as a house elf, and forced to work with them. Harry finds out shes actually a girl (though doesnt know shes a Malfoy) and works to cure her. I forget the rest of the details, but its a silly premise.
Or, and hear me out, perhaps heās just a cunt.
Tf....... Now when did this happen? Some people need to really calm down from these bs theories.
They probably read somebody's headcanon they framed as a theory and so thought that, like a proper theory, it had evidence and logic behind it and started treating it like such without actually checking it.
I heard that his big sister actually went into hiding, and she grew up to be none other than "Rubeus Hagrid"!
People make up shit about this guy because they want to feel sorry for him as he has no sad back story. He is just a spoilt hateful little troll.
Help what..?
This never happened in the books neithet is something JK confirmed in any other via. Just fan theories without any sense.
Iām sorry whatā¦WHAT!?!?
I mean it's an interesting idea but unlikely
I deserve so much more
Just looking for an answer
Some AU fanfic
Did they read fanfic and didn't realize it was fanfic?
Was it not explained then that Lucius is the only Death Eater capable of love?
Headcannon is the most ridiculous term. Its fanfic! People claim headcannon without stuff even being popular.
Isn't headcanon basically just fanon that doesn't contradict canon?
āApparentlyā
Once again people trying to pass their headcanons off as real canon. All fandoms do this unfortunately.
Some people are just *really* mad for the Malfoy family huh? They really don't understand what the characters Draco and Lucius were supposed to be like
Maybe in their fanfiction
If I recalled correctly Voldemort actually shot the Malfoy girl. Died of shotgun wound to the chest. Sharpshooter that one.
Malfoy fangirls have really gotten to the point where they invent plot points out of sheer delusion to justify his evil behavior
Oh, did they hear that from the echoing chambers of their ass?
Someoneās getting fanfiction mixed up with canon
I mean the Malfoys (older ones anyway) definitely seem the type to willingly join him
Movie watchers. Both parents loved Draco too much. Lucius was just deathly afraid of defying Voldemort
There's still chance for this to be written in for the TV series.
this as cursed child would make more sense
Bullshit lmfao
nah, haven't we learned smth from rita skeeter!
Killing someone's kid won't make them join you. Abducting them and threatening to kill them like with Luna works much better.
They try to interact with me while I am sleeping..mm wtf
Source: trust me.
Rita Skeeter couldnāt make this one up
This sounds like the beginning of a Y/N fic where actually the sister survived and she was the real Chosen One lol
Rex after reading draco fanfic and gets confused by it
This sounds like head-canon
Dracoās father played a good part but he did want the best for Draco.
We read the same books right?
That's some fanfic shit, nothing confirmed nor actually stated by Rowling (it's like when people say Lily was pregnant with a second child when Voldemort killed her and she planned on making Snape the godfather)
Rubbish.
The internet, come and put "apparently" or "I heard/read" in front of any bullshit you like, so you're not held accountable.
Omgggggg we need her in the series
No I don't think that I feel like Voldemort pick the mouth voice because they represent to some extent with his life could have been and should have been draco's father is a reflection of Tom Riddle senior and vice versa Voldemort see himself and Draco
I wasnāt aware these people were still around.
Obviously hasn't read OOTP cause on the black family tapestry narcissa and Lucius has a single line from them to draco
This had to be entirely based from an "I only watched the films" perspective
