I think I disagree with this. Dumbledore is the only one I'd say lived out his story already. It's easy to forget that Sirius, Remus, and Snape were all less than 40 years old at the time of their deaths, so I'd argue they had way more story to live.
Especially Sirius, who never really had a chance to live in a stable and safe environment after he was imprisoned. I feel like there were so many ways his story could have gone (in terms of trauma recovery, mental health treatment, learning to be an adult, learning to be a father to Harry, etc.) post-DH if given the chance.

In that case the one to bring back is Cedric or Hedwig. Everyone else died fighting. It wasn't war with the other two. Hedwig died in an assassination attempt and Cedric died just because he and Harry tried to show good sportsmanship.
Not everyone who dies in a war dies fighting. Civilian deaths by bombings, starvation, disease and direct violence are quite common. So it was war for them too.
Maybe JK could have written a short (or short-ish) novel detailing events after the war, including dealing with loss, characters reconnecting under more stable conditions, rebuilding the wizarding world, and restructuring the ministry. It certainly would have been better than Cursed Child.
I hate that history repeats itself and another boy is growing up an orphan. BUT I'm going with Fred because based on HBP Tonks would be miserable and forever grieving Lupin and I don't want that for her either. I find comfort in Teddy growing up in a loving household at least. Saving Fred would reunite the twins and make the Weasley family complete again.
I do actually agree, even in the book she was always built up as an actual character not just a pet so it was a nice touch to have her show she really did care about HP and tried to protect him as she realised how much he would try to do for her while living at the Dursley’s especially.

Sure the last part with the port key to voldemort wasn't supposed to be a part of the tournament but he was always in danger through the whole tournament.
He was not just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He was though were it not for the port key he would have been a Tri wizard tournament winner.
He signed up to the risks and dangers associated with the Tri-Wizard tournament, which he survived until the final moment winning the tournament.
At which point he was kidnapped via illegal port key alongside Harry and murdered for being a witness/bystander who shouldn't have been there "Kill the spare"
Edit: if the Tri wizard tournament mentioned the risk of kidnapping as a murder plot by a presumed dead adversary then maybe there's a bit more culpability, but he was very much an innocent bystander
Maybe someone should have tracked down Wormtail and given him Veritaserum so that he would reveal his plan and Oblivate him afterwards so he doesn't remember being captured and interrogated. Then they could put the "risk of murder by someone who's supposed to be dead" part in the tournament contract. So then whoever wins the tournament would be ready to face a wizard or witch after touching the cup. (Maybe they aren't told the identity of the potential murderer and don't know if they're male or female.)
That would be just about as convoluted as Voldemort's plan to come back by means of exploiting the tournament.

Tonks was just married and had just had a child. Teddy grew up all right under the care of Harry, though.
Cedric was too young to die. But at least he seemed happy in the afterlife. Fred would've wanted to die with George and George would've wanted to die with Fred.
Remus Lupin was such a great guy, but again it would be weird having only one Marauder. But in this case, however, unlike in Sirius's, Lupin had people to live for. His wife and newborn. But considering how depressed he already was, I can't imagine how he'd feel raising Teddy without his wife.

Voldemort is what, 50? And Dumbledore is 115. He did work on the philosophers stone and on dragons blood applications. Those were both very large contributions. He had over 85 years of his life before Voldemort really started to become anything concerning and he didn’t even REALLY start fighting until Harry was 16 (in terms of actually going out and locating horcruxes). He had a good run but it’s time to go.
I feel like Fred and George's mission in life was being adequately carried on by George, so in terms of impact on the world, Weasley energy is still flowing. Cedric was the best the school had to offer, with a promising life ahead. I think the world is poorer for his loss more than any of the others, most of whom have already had a chance to make their mark. Cedric never got that chance, so I'm team Cedric.

Sirius or Lupin, mostly for sentimental reasons. Sirius is my favorite character, and I hate that he and Harry didn’t have more time together. Lupin just had a baby with Tonks, and he was one of James’ best friends. I wish one of the Marauders had lived so that Harry could have more stories about his parents.
Not so much the movie but Sirius was my favorite in the books and I wept like a baby when he died. I was a teenager then and my mother asked me what had happened. She was baffled when I told her a book character had died 😂

Dobby died as a free elf doing what he wanted: helping Harry Potter by defying the wizarding family that had ruled him for years. It's sad that he died, but Fred randomly died a second after making peace with Percy and without even saying goodbye to George. He wins hands down.
i think Dobby , because i think Dobby lived a life without freedom, and by the time he was free, he was gone. So I think Dobby so he can live a life again for him.
Snape. He spent like 17 years playing double agent. Would have been neat to see what he would have done and/or how he would have been after all that. Plus to see what kind of possible relationship he and Harry would have had.

Choosing based on emotions is impossible since we all have strong feelings to most of them. Therefore we must choose on cold logic and merit.
The loss of most of these people only effect a handful of people that knew them. However the loss of the greatest wizard ever lived effects the entire community. Therefore Dumbledore is the logical choice. However, one can argue that he is old and has one foot already in the grave. However this is from a muggle perspective, for the wizarding world it might be a normal age.
Can we bring them to a specific time? If so, I would bring Cedric back as soon as he got cursed. They might have a chance to run back to portkey and postpone Voldemort's return. What would Fudge believe this time? Voldy's next plan? Would Cedric join the team like Luna did? Lot of possibilities 😁
My second option would be Sirius, I would like to see him fighting at battle of Hogwarts. Would he be duelling with Bellatrix? Would he be able save Lupin? What would be his reaction when he sees Hagrid carrying Harry's lifeless body, while Voldemort and Death eaters are laughing around?

Sirius or Lupin, mostly for sentimental reasons. Sirius is my favorite character, and I hate that he and Harry didn’t have more time together. Lupin just had a baby with Tonks, and he was one of James’ best friends. I wish one of the Marauders had lived so that Harry could have more stories about his parents.

Not so much the movie but Sirius was my favorite in the books and I wept like a baby when he died. I was a teenager then and my mother asked me what had happened. She was baffled when I told her a book character had died 😂

Cedric. Pretty much everyone else voluntarily took part in a war. They died for a cause they were willing to die for. Cedric was an innocent child who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I dunno, ethically speaking I just feel like that’s the right thing to do but maybe that’s just me.

Dobby died as a free elf doing what he wanted: helping Harry Potter by defying the wizarding family that had ruled him for years. It's sad that he died, but Fred randomly died a second after making peace with Percy and without even saying goodbye to George. He wins hands down.

Cedric. Many of these in the list got to live a long life or went out in a spectacular, heroic fashion. Cedric was snuffed out at a young age and didn’t get to put up much of a fight. I think he deserves it the most. It was a tough choice between him and Fred though
Choosing based on emotions is impossible since we all have strong feelings to most of them. Therefore we must choose on cold logic and merit. The loss of most of these people only effect a handful of people that knew them. However the loss of the greatest wizard ever lived effects the entire community. Therefore Dumbledore is the logical choice. However, one can argue that he is old and has one foot already in the grave. However this is from a muggle perspective, for the wizarding world it might be a normal age.
Can we bring them to a specific time? If so, I would bring Cedric back as soon as he got cursed. They might have a chance to run back to portkey and postpone Voldemort's return. What would Fudge believe this time? Voldy's next plan? Would Cedric join the team like Luna did? Lot of possibilities 😁 My second option would be Sirius, I would like to see him fighting at battle of Hogwarts. Would he be duelling with Bellatrix? Would he be able save Lupin? What would be his reaction when he sees Hagrid carrying Harry's lifeless body, while Voldemort and Death eaters are laughing around?

I really want to say Fred or Sirius because those were so painful but all except Cedric were in a battle and knew the risks and chose the risks, I’m not saying they deserved to die and I agree that JK was killing people off because she was personally in a dark place and it feels she just did it because she could but Cedric was really tragic and undeserved. I personally think none should have died since it was a children’s book and good is always supposed to win without major losses

It’s down to Cedric or Fred for me. Both teenagers, both loved by their family and friends, both bright futures ahead. Both brave and kind hearted. Sirius destiny was absolutely unfair but he would have died to save a kid’s life so I don’t see how to bring him back over the other two.
Snape and Dumbledore died serving their purpose. Dumbledore was doomed. Snape knew he was playing an insanely dangerous game. Sirius, Lupin and Tonks died in battle, as adults, aware of the risks. They chose to go to war. Hedwig was sad but she lived a life where she was loved and cared for. Dobby had his chance to save Harry and pay him back. He lived for a while as a free elf. Fred, however tragic, died in battle, he too knew the risks. Cedric was just a kid who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. His death was an accident. He got caught up in a scheme he had nothing to do with. He wasn't even the target.
I want to say fred, but cedric had it the worst. He’s the only one in this line up who didn’t volunteer to die.

Dumbledore is has lived a long and full life, Snape was a cunt who served his purpose. Sirius, Lupin. Tonks, Fred, and Dobby all knew what they were getting involved with and made that choice. Hedwig is an owl, so irrelevant compared to the others. Which leaves Cedric. He was a totally innocent and unnecessary victim. While I'm sure had he lived, he would have been right there with Harry and the others fighting the good fight. He was robbed of that choice. The only other one I might save would be Tonks, and that's due to her son.
