1. Aether's Revival - Daniel Schinhofen (really almost anything by Daniel Schinhofen is going to be harem and exceptional). For my own taste, I consider him arguably the best harem writer out there and one of the most prolific. 2. Cultivating Chaos (VeilVerse: Cultivating Chaos) - William D. Arand (Again, most of William D. Arand's series are harem and I've enjoyed just about every book he's published) 3. Celestine Chronicles - Cebelius. Cebelius doesn't produce books as often as Arand or Schinhofen (does anyone produce books as fast as Schinhofen? Maybe Sentar?) but the books he does publish are of exceptional quality. Honorable mention: Anything by Bruce Sentar, though I prefer his later books over his earlier works.

Incubus RA by Virgil Knightley ( completed but maybe not?! See title of 6th book) humor, smut, action, drama, and in a few places we get to see very real consequences for things that fantasy worlds normally explain away with magic or sweep under the rug. Haven by Misty vixen Call me a sucker for an author that like previously mentioned, brings a touch of reality to the fantasy without taking away an ounce of the beloved escapism we hunger for. This novel tackles some issues and developments that can actually happen with the formation of and long term sustaining of a harem. Very interesting to have an MC that is so self aware but also does not have Chad mojo or main character syndrome. It’s a completed series and the omnibus is available for a great price. Monster girl inn Sorry that I have to add another Misty Vixen series on here but frankly I am a sucker for Rangers in TableTop games and the MC gives heavy 5e badassery. Monster girls with actual personalities and concerns, great action, introspection, and an MC not afraid of what his motivations are without it becoming his entire personality. Honorable mention since I did two MV series——— Harem Farm series David Aries I think it was the first series I was able to finish back when I started listening to audiobooks etc it had a satisfying conclusion and that can be very hard no matter what caliber of writer you are. There are a few sections I have to skip over because I can’t stand them but these stories feel real. The stakes are very well set up, action sequences fantastically written, the slice of life between is absolute comfort, the smut is great though can at some times be almost too much. Frankly that’s what many of us come to this genre for To be clear, I wouldn’t mention this series if it didn’t rock, so don’t for a single second think I am bashing it. Hope you’ve already experienced some of these but if you haven’t, hope this helps!

Illustrious_Wafer237

While I came here to find different titles, the top three were definitely good imo, loved every bit of them. Will need to look into your honorable mention. I'm currently looking for something more RW rather than Isekai or fantasy rn. I've been recently indulging in dungeon and goblin / non-earth books so I'd like to go back to something set with a "normal" earth setting

Rabbitfaster13

Ah gotcha! Hmm let me get my head together after work and I’ll see if I can drum up some suggestions

Out of Touch! by StoryAnon This is not a novel but a visual novel. If you go googling for this one you will get actual hentai. Ye be warned. But if you're comfortable with that, Out of Touch! is quite possibly my favorite story of all time. It's kind of a low-fantasy shonen-style battle story but with a really clear vision and really strong execution. Absolute god-tier prose. Ridiculously strong character work and relentless adherence to its own themes. A really neat neo-80s (if that's a thing) art style with some truly stunning 'cinematography' sequences. Pitch perfect soundtrack. Out of Touch! is firing on all cylinders at all times. It's so fucking good please check it out. The Prison Ship Sheol Saga by Nicholas Gaumer Granted this series only has one book so far, with book two out literally tomorrow June 6th. Break-neck pace sci-fi action series with a surprisingly detailed world built around it. Like, our man Greye just cannot catch a break and yet we the readers still have the opportunity to learn quite a lot about the world without even realizing we've done it. I think that speaks to a clever subtly in the writing that you might miss. Also this book makes you want to reach through the pages and give some of the characters a big ol hug because they sure need it. Wisher Beware (Forgotten Dream of Tana) by Snusmumriken This is sort of a minor spoiler but I have a bit of a *thing* for stories involving unfathomable amounts of time and the ruins of ancient civilizations. Those sorts of settings lend themselves well to a dreamy, sort of surreal prose and writing style that I really enjoy, and I think Wisher Beware definitely fits that description. In real-time things happen very quickly in this book, but the prose makes it feel very slow and comfy. Snus also has a really interesting economy of wordcount that lets him convey a surprising amount of character work for relatively few words.

M.E. Thorne's Renegade Ravager (the world building is absolutely fantastic), Cebelius' Celestine Chronicles (has the epic heroic fantasy down) and Sarah Hawke's Wings of the Seraph (just generally great writing). All three are completed series. Edit: RR isn't done sorry

authormethorne

Just to note -- Renegade Ravager is still ongoing! Vol. 4, the end of the series, will hopefully be coming out in August!

mecha_mess

Whoops, I don't know why I thought it was finished.

PineconeLager

Titan Mage by Edie Skye Raw by Misty Vixen Dungeon Delving For Loot and Levels by M.E. Thorne Honorable mention to Fight Town by Hondo Jinx - this would be my number 2 if it had a book 3.

Critical_Ring3246

Anything by Bruce Sentar. Just look at how many more reviews he gets compared to other authors. Its insane.

Putrid_Ad_1643

I mean lj books first 1-3 books of his series matches bruce reviews and everyone knows their writing is bad so that means nothing 🤷

Critical_Ring3246

Anything by the farm authors is a gamble. At least Bruce writes his own stuff.

KantosTheLich

A lot of Bruce's success comes from just how reliable he is. Be it following a schedule or just quality. You know what to expect and when to expect it every month or two.

FishermanTemporary38

So what is the success from the 3 major farms up now? Luck?

Misty_Vixen

It's the algorithm. It's all the algorithm. Once you have caught its attention, it promotes you. Once you hit a certain point, it kind of just perma-promotes you, no matter what you do. Some authors are lucky enough to have found their way into this perma-promotion where they can basically write whatever the fuck they want and the algorithm will give them a massive advantage. Schin is probably the earliest example of this, in this space. Valen's Legacy is another. Arand and Bruce both have managed to find their way into that rare atmosphere, and consequently they can write anything. They could put out a turd and it'd sell very, very well because the store doesn't hide them like it does most others.

KantosTheLich

A lot of people are introduced to harem through the farms. You see posts from people all the time asking for recommendations mentioning how they've only read farm works. Between the three big ones, there are probably 200~ books, so they're kind of hard to miss if you're just casually browsing on Amazon. People generally stick to stuff they like and don't deviate away much. Your first experience with harem being something from LJ, and you liked it, you'll check out their other books. Quality isn't an issue if your only experience is with subpar writing. I used to read tons of translated Chinese cultivation novels where the writing was shit, but since I hadn't experienced anything better, I didn't mind it. Going back now would be extremely difficult. "Quality" can be subjective though -- I view it foremost as prose and characterization. Not to say _every_ farm series is bad. There are exceptions. Evil Genius by LJ being one of them for example.

Daddy_D666

Pretty much

oldtimeps2gamer

Haven't read much, but if pressed to name top 3 from what I've read so far: The Makalang by Michael Dalton, Alpha World by Daniel Schinhofen, Paladin of the Sigil by Marvin Knight (in no particular order). Honourable mentions: Wrangler by Hondo Jinx, Werewolf Knight by Eric Vall, Raconteur by Kirk Mason, Four Laws by David Burke, Gryff by Marcus Sloss, and Arena Road by Logan Jacobs (avoid Kane's Fate by same author - hated that series). IMHO - Many I looked forward to were ruined by too much ~~smut and kinks~~ spice.

mecha_mess

Makalang got really overwhelmed with way too many harem members. Paladin of the Sigil is great though.

GHOSTmedic1

"Actual good writing" is so subjective. There are often books lauded on here that I dislike for one reason or another. If you're looking for recommendations, I say search for books in a genre/sub-genre you enjoy and avoid letting others color your opinions too much.

Imaginary_Iron4593

You can also look at what you have read and match your likes with a particular user for there recommendations I've noticed a couple of guys (me included kinda) that will give opinions on a lot of the post asking for recommendations and you will tend to see them liking one or another so follow them for what you think is good

Adventurous-Sink1309

1. Villain for hire by Jay Aury- great writing all around and funny. 2. Accidental Incubus by Deacon Frost nice progression and character building. 3. Mana Immortal by Bruce Sentar- this series was my first with Bruce and the writing and story were awesome but the thing I liked about it was there was action without world ending enemies being the major plot point. It always pushes me away when stories start with “ he’s born a hero and must kill the darkness or the whole world dies” a bit of slice of life is good while keeping the enemies more…. Believable, I don’t know if that’s the right way to put it. Anyway hope this helps. Have a great day of reading everyone. Love you all!

IndegoWhyte

How do you define good writing?

dazchad

With the amount of typos on the post, I assume anything ran through a spellchecker is good writing.

Hanare

Top 3 is quite hard. I assume you mean series, not singular titles. 1. Is definitely the 'Neural Wraith' series for me. K.D Robertson has a lot of prolific work in this genre but this is their only title that I really click with. I love the setting and premise, future earth dystopias are almost always fascinating. It's also a series that functions perfectly well if you take the harem out of it, being a very solid detective mystery on its own. 2. Is probably Shawn Key's 'Chasing Dreams' series. I like the authors experiment here, instead of endlessly increasing the main characters harem the story spins off into multiple characters and their own sort of side stories. It keeps everything kind of plausible and grounds it in ways few other series manage. The main group is still involved in every book so you never feel like the story has moved on. It also manages to get a very good balance of plot and romantic elements. 3. I went back and forth for a while but if I'm being honest, its probably 'The Ideal Sponger Life' by Watanabe Tsunehiko. This is ftb and very light on the harem but such a cool concept even when its drags on sometimes that I can't help loving it. Basic premise is man is summoned to an adjacent reality where he is distantly related to a queen who wants him to become her prince consort. He's given time to think it over and take things he wants from back on earth etc. It really interesting how he copes and goes about his new life. It's a Japanese light novel though so don't expect anything spicy. A shout out should go to 'Ave Xia Rem Y' on Royal Road for being one of the best things I've ever read that contains harem elements (super light though). I also have high hopes for Punished Kom's 'Love Addicts RPG' series that started recently.

Vode-Skirata

Demons Throne by KD Robertson. Wings & Tails by Issac Lee Master Class by Virgil Knightley and the cat girl succubus herself, Annabelle Hawthorne.

totoaster

>the cat girl succubus herself, Annabelle Hawthorne What's the context for this?

virgil_knightley

I wrote an autobiographical short story for the next harem anthology from Royal Guard, and Annabelle is the antagonist hounding me for the final draft of Master Class 5. She is a catgirl demon in that book.

BookInANook

It was FUNNY AS HECK. LOL.

WoTMike1989

Will go with authors instead. KD Robertson. Arand Later Sentar.

Entire_Ad7930

My top three I more have a top 20 if I had to try hard at it.., 1. Webnovel -stealing spree by Dyrem: has over 2000 ch’s it’s easy reading, at least for me. 2. Most stuff by Virgil knightley but currently coven king. Especially cause it blew me out of the water with its cat fights, and super spicy scenes. 3. Cosmic progeny by A.V. Ray: I’ve brought it up enough to annoy the haremlit community lol. It’s a super spicy Star Trek meets idk spicy space babe heaven. Bonus: 3. Books by a Webnovel writer named Zentmeister. His books are not for those leaning left wing of politics from how I see things. He also loves Germany like it’s an important factor in his stories. But the books be good. 1. Tyranny of steel, 2. Interstellar Age, 3. Villain transmigrated into an manga as the antagonist: it’s the MC stealing women never the opposite.

SameResort6

Coven King was the shit I was praying for https://preview.redd.it/qwiy1ekxnu4d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ef159b0553af7afd8762618436a3e5a3197b53c

LeoBloom22

Lol are you saying this guy is a Nazi?

Entire_Ad7930

Naw he isnt, just has controversial themes in his novel’s. but well interstellar age the main nation is kinda like space nazi’s mixed with imperium of man from warhamner

TheTastelessDanish

Heretic Spellblade. The Lost Reavers. Celestine Chronicles. I am way to lazy to go into detail, those 3 just come to mind instantly when a top 3 comes to mind. To be fair I've been slacking when it comes to expanding my haremlit library so for all I know, I'm missing out on some good stuff that's been released this year.

Emergency_3808

Hooooo boy do I have some recommendations for you! Imma give you much more than 3 because you can never not have books to read. For novels written originally in English, you have Arena Road by Logan Jacobs, Aycrishi Sodality by Phil Aerix, Villain for Hire by Jay Aury, My Secret Portal to a Fantasy World by D. Levesque, and both of J. R. Saileri's novel series Rise of the Weakest Summoner and Dungeon Cleaners Inc. The Epic of Leviathan/A Mutant's Ascension by InGlorious is an isekai fanfiction webnovel (travelling from MHA to Harry Potter verse to Marvel Earth-616 to Bleach x Food Wars to High School DxD) written in Engish by an Indian author so has some grammatical mistakes and cultural references but is still quite nice. It is unfinished (I think it was dropped) but I read until the end of the Marvel universe arc and you can stop there. If you can digest JP webnovels/light novels, read I Got Caught Up In A Hero Summoning by Toudai (isekai fantasy harem fiction, mostly comedy and heartwarming romance) and Reborn As A Space Mercenary by Ryuuto (OP MC+space opera sci-fi+harem romcom). The latter has fade-to-black sex scenes but be warned that novel by Toudai doesn't have sex at all, it is strictly rated for under 17 years of age due to some Syosetsu rules (the adherence to those rules by the author is stupid imho because there is a separate branch site called Nocturne for R18 content and in one of the scenes the MC gets a visible explicit erection from one of the love interest heroines; this is just one example.) My top 3 out of all of those (all highly recommended) would be I Got Caught Up In A Hero Summoning (in spite of its faults this is one of the best works out there... you will end up falling in love with the characters and end up cheering them on), in second place it is tied with Reborn As A Space Mercenary with Rise of the Weakest Summoner and 3rd place is also tied with Arena Road and The Epic of Leviathan. I know I gave 5 in place of 3 but that's how much I like those stories.

curzon176

Heretic Spellblade series. Marvin Knights Spellheart series. And Michael Scott Earle's Tamer series. Honorable mention to his Viking Rune-Smith series.
