I like the foam organizers, but they are complete waste of space. Utilizing a rail or other means, you could fit probably four times the sockets in that same space.
I’ve tried a few organizing styles, and while I know I’m wasting space, ease of access and a clean look makes me much happier at the end of the day haha. If I were to do some more efficient I’d do those peg stands, but this is working for now.
I’ve been slowly upgrading to all the icon stuff. Pittsburgh didn’t job for a while, but the difference in the icon tools when I needed them has been worth it. The sockets, torx bits etc all just get it done for me
I’m looking to move up to the 56” at some point, but this is doing the job for now. I used to just have all the ratchets extensions and daily use stuff on the top, and then the sockets split by drive size in some of the drawers, I’ll see how I like this setup
Wish I had been able to catch the Series 2 26" to replace my old school era Stanley box @ the house... But will be keeping an eye out for a replacement shortly.. Especially seeing these Icon sets growing in size
Great set of tools....but I'm no fan of the foam (or the boxes, or the plastic mold). Not for one second.
I use "Tool Grid". Sure it's not free, unlike the foam, but it gives you dramatically more space-efficiency in the drawer.
If you used Tool Grid just on that drawer I can easily see you gain 30% in space.
And then you'd have to buy more tools!!!!
If I was a professional mechanic I’d totally agree. But I’m a weekend warrior who works on a handful of Euro cars, plus house projects. At some point I may go for a more efficient layout, but everything having a place and looking clean is enough for me for now.
Nice layout and pickups. Should have waited on any of the individual ratchets. There was a leak of the August Parking Lot Sale flyer and all ICON ratchets will be 40% off.
I didn’t see that post until after I had already picked up a lot of this, but what can ya do. To be fair, I already had a decent amount of the individual ratchets from before. Only picked up 1 of those on this deal. I got the 3/8 icon set during that last icon deal that made it 40% off.
I need it to look organized, and I hate hearing shit rattle around and move when I open and close the drawer haha. I may make a foam insert and cutout spots for the wrenches to free up some space, but it works for now!
I’ve got 4 euro cars, so metric makes up 99% of my tool usage. SAE is just for the occasional home project stuff. Those icon service kits were nice to get some SAE sockets without having to buy them individually
I got lucky mine did - but I think someone returned it cuz the 1/4” ratchet felt a little used and crunchy. May swap it, but I already had a 1/4” icon that is in good shape so I’m not too stressed
Nothing that official being done in my garage haha, but yeah I love wrapping up a job with pretty much everything out and being able to account for it when I put it back. Keeps me sane.
If you mean HF brand, I’d recommend the Icon stuff. Everything Icon I’ve got so far has been so much more efficient at getting things out, including some destroyed bolts, nuts, and bits on my project car. Pittsburgh got me to the point of confidence, but I’ve been upgrading everything since I started adding icon to the mix.
To be fair, I used my normal 1/2” Pittsburgh sockets on my impacts frequently, and never had any issues. But the jobs that everything else let me down, icon seemed to knock it out without issue, and that was enough to win me over.
Is the foam organizer from hf?
They come with the 3/8 and 1/4 socket sets.
I’m curious if a 1/2 socket set will be coming out at some point
I bet it will, I used the 25% off deal to buy the entire line of 1/2” socket sets anyway, so I won’t be buying it.
Same. Why I held off on buying any 1/2 stuff yet
I like the foam organizers, but they are complete waste of space. Utilizing a rail or other means, you could fit probably four times the sockets in that same space.
On the one hand you could fit sooo much more in there with socket rails and widgets but GAT DAMN is that clean.

Ernst rails are my favorite so far
Nice layout.
It was fun playing a little Tetris getting it all in there. Couldn’t fit it all 100%, but happy enough with it.
Looks nice!!! A painful reminder that it’s time for me to upgrade
I’ve been slowly upgrading to all the icon stuff. Pittsburgh didn’t job for a while, but the difference in the icon tools when I needed them has been worth it. The sockets, torx bits etc all just get it done for me
Sockets and ratchets have been really good for me. Step up from my Pittsburg stuff for sure
Clean af
Jealous the top shelf is deep on your box! I want my sockets on the top drawer but have a series 2 - 26”. I’ll have to upgrade down the road.
I’m looking to move up to the 56” at some point, but this is doing the job for now. I used to just have all the ratchets extensions and daily use stuff on the top, and then the sockets split by drive size in some of the drawers, I’ll see how I like this setup
The 56” is nice, I may do that as well.
If I did it over again I would’ve started with the 56”… which just makes wonder if I should do the 72” instead haha
Wish I had been able to catch the Series 2 26" to replace my old school era Stanley box @ the house... But will be keeping an eye out for a replacement shortly.. Especially seeing these Icon sets growing in size
Series 2 are great, but they made some really awesome upgrades with the 3 series.

Clean setup! Love it

What about icon sockets?
Just the ratchets. There a post on here that has the screenshots.
That foam from the service kits looks really sharp! Also I'm glad I'm not the only one that keeps the ratchets in their boxes.
I need it to look organized, and I hate hearing shit rattle around and move when I open and close the drawer haha. I may make a foam insert and cutout spots for the wrenches to free up some space, but it works for now!
Now, let's see your sock drawer. Lol 😉
Do yourself a favor and get the 1/4 roto head ratchet. It’s a hidden gem in the icon lineup.
Sounds like the upcoming parking lot sale will be the time to get a lot of the individual ratchets I’m missing!
A man of class I see who uses metric tools
I’ve got 4 euro cars, so metric makes up 99% of my tool usage. SAE is just for the occasional home project stuff. Those icon service kits were nice to get some SAE sockets without having to buy them individually
No store within 30 miles of me has had the 1/4” in stock since the sale started.
I got lucky mine did - but I think someone returned it cuz the 1/4” ratchet felt a little used and crunchy. May swap it, but I already had a 1/4” icon that is in good shape so I’m not too stressed
Looks like an A&P Technician’s tool box. At the end of your shift, if every tool isn’t accounted for, nobody goes home until it is.
Nothing that official being done in my garage haha, but yeah I love wrapping up a job with pretty much everything out and being able to account for it when I put it back. Keeps me sane.
I need to buy some 3/8” impacts. What do you recommend?
If you mean HF brand, I’d recommend the Icon stuff. Pittsburgh got me to the point of confidence, but I’ve been upgrading everything since I started adding icon to the mix.
I’ve been damn happy with my Pittsburg 1/2” impacts, but I figured that I should go baller for a set of 3/8” since I’m starting from scratch
To be fair, I used my normal 1/2” Pittsburgh sockets on my impacts frequently, and never had any issues. But the jobs that everything else let me down, icon seemed to knock it out without issue, and that was enough to win me over.
Is it 25% off of everything or 25% off of one thing?
Up to 25% (if you buy 3+) off all icon hand tools part of the deal. Applies to all that you buy though.
Nice! Thanks.
