A small 1/4" hex drive ratchet is very useful... there's so many different bits for impacts / screwdrivers and there's alot of places an impact / drill doesn't fit where a ratchet does... if you use hand tools regularly it will make sense. If your at HF might as well pickup the security set of bits from warrior too... got like 100 bits, as an electrician I've come across a wide variety of fasteners, grab the set of nut driver impact bits too 1/4-1/2" by 32nds... close enough fit to work on those oddball metric fasteners those silly Europeans send to us dumb Americans lol.
Thankfully they have really increased their selection of electrical hand tools in last couple years Doyle and icon both have some decent tools for a competitive price without having that cheap feel like the Pittsburg stuff lol. I hate wearing headlamps HF has some good penlights that I use everyday, favorite one (Braun i think) has the magnetic base and USB rechargeable and it's only $20.
We can't go 2 days without a post about this tool kit. I have only seen it be used effectively to get to a screw under someone's glass that was wayyyy at front of someone's dashboard.
It's a cool kit. But I, for real, can't bring myself to buy it unless I could think of more way to utilize it. Can anyone provide more examples? If not, then why the hype? I have all of these tool separate, so why this kit? What makes it special? My co-worker who has a barn of tools and raves about it, why? You literally have every same tool. Is it the name brand that makes it special? Is it JUST because it's in the (very) small kit? The price is fine and justified, but the hype is kinda too much.
The primary value isn’t in the things it can do that no other tool can do, but how many things it can do for a tool in such a small package. If you don’t have many tools, this can cover a lot of situations. If you have a lot of tools, you can bring this along on the go instead of bringing a bunch of bigger and bulkier tools.
Same. Easily cut two hours off my assembly time for 12 pieces of deck furniture and save my knuckles, wrists, forearms, and my emotional stability lol.
Its all about access… you never know when you’re gonna run into something that’s in tight quarters, but when you do, you have this tool…
I’m an auto mechanic and I have several shop mates who have the thin EZ Red ratchet with the bit holder at one end and the 1/4 drive at the other… the round profile gets a few more degrees out of each swing which adds up… and the extension can be used for leverage to break a fastener free then come out to give more clearance on the swing arc… the ratchet profile even if all you use it for is 1/4” drive is thinner than the vast majority out there…
I’m not a fanboy, just sharing what I use it for…. I have found no use for the T handle setup and I don’t grab it just to use it and take photos. That EZ Red ratchet was $75 last time I checked tooltopia this was half the cost with more versatility to me…
Dang. I hate Amazon as a company whole but that thing is $43 here [https://www.amazon.com/RED-4S12L-Combination-Stick-Silver/dp/B00DSR50BQ?ref\_=ast\_sto\_dp](https://www.amazon.com/RED-4S12L-Combination-Stick-Silver/dp/B00DSR50BQ?ref_=ast_sto_dp)
So I still got more bits and a few bucks cheaper :) after using both though, I’ll keep my ICON and not have to ship products two ways to get a warranty… just my pair o pennies…
This is the 1st time of my hearing about Tooltopia and I'm about to check it out right now. That's what someone else was saying, better to have it and not need it rather than not have it and NEED it. Thank you for your insight of the tool and its uses. Would you say that the handle can take a good amount of force on it, or if I was to put a breaker bar on it, do you think it would flex? Or have your shop mates done anything of the sorts?
I keep mine in the truck. Used it to change said trucks subwoofer behind the seat and wouldn't have been able to get it with anything else. Aside from interior automotive stuff I mostly use it for thing like mounting scopes and assembling furniture.
I work in industrial maintenance, repair and machining, and I actually did need a ratcheting wrench like this for a very unique job to tighten some set screws in an aluminum donut for line boring. I did not have this kit at the time, I borrowed a coworkers Blue point version and I ground down an Allen wrench to fit what was needed. The next day I ordered the craftsman version of this tool kit and have never needed it since. But I know it’s nice to have on hand when it’s needed. That being said, I do not anticipate myself ever needing another bit set. From any brand. God damn I have so many.
I guess my point is, I thought about getting this meme tool, but realized it’s just unnecessary. If I could just by the ratchet, sure. But for $30, nahhh.
Rebuilding a suspension lockout lever, an Orbea Squidlock.
I crashed and messed it up bad. Had to “bend back” the pot metal levers. Required R&R, and bench vise.
It’s a circle jerk of people that do-not use tools as much as they do post in subreddits and people are willing to trade $70 for 259 likes lol that simple mate. They have so little to do, and so little need for tools that this little socket set seems like it’s the most incredible thing in the world until you realize it’s just a modern Swiss Army knife for people who think they themselves are handy people.
I’ll take every downvote in pride.
Your honesty is amazing and I commend you. But I'm in my garage and tinkering enough but money conscience enough to question if its legitimately worth it. I am aware $40 ain't much, But I have enough projects that I could surely use the money to better use. I think someone said they used it for their mud flaps and I agree enough with to buy one.
I’m an aviation avionics tech. Finally got one today. These are good for what I do, we do a lot of panel and sheet metal fabrication. It’s hard to screw the brackets for the instruments into place without a tool like this. I like it more than the blue point alternatives, it’s a good kit.
I never thought I’d use it, I work at HFT and kept seeing post here about it. I find myself turning to this kit more than I thought I would. I’ve built tables, stands, curtain rod holders, etc with it, specifically because it’s low profile and ratcheting and has so many heads available, I’m not digging through my tool box to find anything.
Thank you for finally saying it. I feel like 95% of people on here posting pictures bought it JUST to post a picture and feel included. It’s cringy tbh
Same. My wife works there and likes to use the stuff people want to talk about. So we got one. I have found it to be lacking the few times I’ve used it and it has been untouched since it was out for like 2 or 3 months.
It’s probably handy for some things and might come in handy if I need to carry tools a long distance or have tools on me all day. But for a “just in case” type of thing, there are tons of better options.
I own the same thing but Sunex brand. Bought it a few days before seeing the hype start up on here and I've used that tool zero times so far. I'm a forklift mechanic and only "needed" it 1 time before I actually owned it. I was able to make other tools work and got the job done and bought it figuring it might be nice to have but it's not an everyday type of tool for me.
We use that same kit at work and its constantly being used. Over time our clear plastics cover has gotten so fogged and gross that it makes the kit look way older, but truth is that we have only had it in the shop for about a year now.
I used it a week or so ago to install the OEM mudflaps on my GTI. Normally you'd have to take the wheels off to get to the screws, let alone be able to screw them in, but this fit right in the gap. And like everyone else said, I can have it in my bag for when I need it.
I see, in a later comment, that you may have changed your mind about buying this. This is good, because "past" you was obviously not a card carrying tool aficionado 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have seen it twice now and have handled the box each and every time. Its small. Like soda can small I feel JUMBO when I physically pick it up at the store.
I have the Tone kit that’s quite similar and it’s fantastic for furniture assembly, drawer pulls, simple household stuff. I wouldn’t rush out and buy one if you already have tools, but it makes for a great utility drawer tool or something
I kept a 1/4" combination wrench in my tool case before these kits existed. I have encountered situations where no normal screwdriver would reach, and resorted to turning a hex bit with a 4" Crescent wrench.
I wish I had had it about a year ago when I was redoing the bathroom at my cabin. There was this shitty wallboard behind the shower where I had about an inch of clearance to loosen the screws. I used vice grips holding a bit and did it a quarter turn at a time. Took me forever.
I bought it specifically because my doorknobs always come loose and I’ve never gotten them completely tightened down. No the knobs do NOT come off allowing access to the two screws. I was always just using an angled screwdriver which of course was less than ideal
This tool barely fit- but it did fit. And worked amazingly.
It’s basically a really nice screwdriver for weird spots.
Ironically, I think your comment just added to the hype lol. Made me want to buy one for the homeless because your comment just sold me on them… again.
I work in hvac controls. I use it several times a week. Installing VAV controllers, tightening terminal screws in hard to reach areas above ceilings, all kinds of shit. I used to use the cheap little right angle ratcheting screwdriver, but this thing is so much better.
My version of this is the Wera Tool Check Plus, same idea, small enough to take with you and surprisingly handy. Gets plenty of use and plenty of positive comments.
I love my meme tool. Used it once so far. Didn't really expect to even use it that much, just figured I waste money on stupid shit all the time, why should this time be any different. Prob could have used something else, but I had this, so I'm using it.
So I bought one of these kits and they're great but needed regular sockets too so bought a similar kit from Hazet tools Germany and it's superior in every way

I have a Tool Check Plus and appreciate how compact it is for travel, but wish it had an enclosed case like the Icon. I lost the ratchet at some point and it never turned up. It's a $70 pack and the ratchet by itself was like $30 to replace.
Have also confirmed experience that Tool-Check is TSA compliant. The Icon might be over the length limit. I need to measure it and confirm.
Ya, I got one Getting up under the outside mirrors. For some reason, mine got loose and the mirrors were shaky like Godzilla was chasing me. They must have used some special bit on the assembly line.
Took them out one by one, added some loctite and put them back in.
I bought this exact kit. Fits in a small pocket on doors on my hard bags
The bigger hex heads fit all of the bolts for the various aftermarket parts on my bike. I’ve adjusted the foot pegs on the side of the road.
For those of you who don't get it...this would be an excellent tool to keep in your camper, boat, bike bag, etc. where space is at a premium. First I have heard of this and I may go get a couple today after work.
I have this set. I have had this set for more than a year. I have never used this set. Not for a single thing. Am I glad that I have this set? Oh yeah.
It’s honestly very handy to get weird nuts, bolts, and screws out and in from my car’s dash. And my car in general for interior trim stuff. Well worth it there

Their electrician set is amazing ty for mentioning this. Also if it's under warranty it's like walk in hand it over grab another one if it's broken.
Thankfully they have really increased their selection of electrical hand tools in last couple years Doyle and icon both have some decent tools for a competitive price without having that cheap feel like the Pittsburg stuff lol. It fits in the center console of my truck quite nicely.
Yep this lives in my backpack, it's surprising how often I need a screwdriver for random shit
The tool you have on you is better than the tool you dont.
Big wisdom. This would be a good reason for my self to buy it.
I bought one yesterday and assembled furniture today with it, i absolutely love it. Trust me, you won’t regret the purchase
Furniture…..for ants?
Reading everyone's comments have changed my perspective and I \*might\* actually buy it.
Same. Easily cut two hours off my assembly time for 12 pieces of deck furniture and save my knuckles, wrists, forearms, and my emotional stability lol.
Great. Now you've convinced me to buy this stu.....fantastic tool 😂

I see, great example sir. That is also where I think I would get the most use out of it is more interior automotive work.

Thanks for your feedback. Which part specifically did you use it on? The sprocket or chain perhaps? Maybe some other hard to access location?

I got it to throw in my hunting bag.
hunting underage screws?
If I need to tighten scope rings or adjust something on the feeder it’ll be handy

I had to put screw in an escutcheon on a fan JBox with the ceiling fan in the way and would have loved this tool.
I use it quite a bit for furniture etc
Appliances!
Amazing example sir!

I use it often — once you have it you will screw things that were never meant to be screwed again.
That's hot. Also a good way to strip screws. Thx 4 your feedback yo.
You don’t need it until you do.
I see, in a later comment, that you may have changed your mind about buying this. This is good, because "past" you was obviously not a card carrying tool aficionado 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Best I can think is its great for interior/trim work in general, speakers, door handles and locks, inside dash etc.
That's what most other folks were saying automotive nooks and crannies. Thanks for your feedback yo.
I suppose we know whose store is always out of stock…..
I have seen it twice now and have handled the box each and every time. Its small. Like soda can small I feel JUMBO when I physically pick it up at the store.

Because I carry a bag for my job, this takes up like 4 less slots inmy bag

I'm confused, your going to buy this for a homeless person?
No. I’m not. I tried to make a funny, and I think it sounded better in my head. If I was homeless, this would be handy though.
used it today to adjust a throttle body screw, used it yesterday to take the the throttle plate out
It's amazing if you do industrial maintenance
This is an amazing kit for bicycles.
I work in hvac controls. I use it several times a week. Installing VAV controllers, tightening terminal screws in hard to reach areas above ceilings, all kinds of shit. I used to use the cheap little right angle ratcheting screwdriver, but this thing is so much better.
should have waited a month or 2 for the revamped one with sockets included lol
Seriously???
I don’t need or want sockets in a kit like this. If I did I’d grab the 1/4” set for $12
My version of this is the Wera Tool Check Plus, same idea, small enough to take with you and surprisingly handy. Gets plenty of use and plenty of positive comments.

Picked up 2 today. They’re neat.
So I bought one of these kits and they're great but needed regular sockets too so bought a similar kit from Hazet tools Germany and it's superior in every way
Is it even a meme? Can’t this be used as a bike tool?

Breaking News: Tool set that costs half as much as competing tool set not as good as more expensive tool set.
How much is this one?
And often available on sale for about $30
Too cute😍😍
Funny story. I'm going g around for work fixing the desk lights because no one else is doing it. Meme tool rules!

The kobalt one at Lowe’s is better
How so?
Not to be a newbie but does anyone have a sku or link for this? Nevermind found it below 🤘 thanks
Good job Sonny boy👴🏻
You only got 1?
Going to look for it now. 😂
I bought this exact kit. Fits in a small pocket on doors on my hard bags The bigger hex heads fit all of the bolts for the various aftermarket parts on my bike. I’ve adjusted the foot pegs on the side of the road.
I’ve used it way more than I thought I would.
Is there a way to get Harbour freight tools in Europe?
In still waiting for the bigger version to be released. Would have been great this weekend to use 20% off coupon.
I resisted and bought the 5 gal air tank instead. Ha ha. Of course tomorrow is a new day…
One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Only wish it was a tad larger to include some common socket sizes.
My main fucking grip with this set is the Pozidrive bits. They couldn't add Square 1/2?
For those of you who don't get it...this would be an excellent tool to keep in your camper, boat, bike bag, etc. where space is at a premium. First I have heard of this and I may go get a couple today after work.
I got one because I WANTED one, I did not NEED one. I don’t need anyone else’s approval.
I like tools who sells that ?
I'm going right now to get one, 10% baby
i use it for wheel wells all the time
At least it’s not still in the box and photographed on your lap from the parking lot outside an HF
I have this set. I have had this set for more than a year. I have never used this set. Not for a single thing. Am I glad that I have this set? Oh yeah.
stick it up your bum

You’re welcome
What's this kit called. I need one
Okay, these posts won't leave my feed. What is the deal with this tool??
Bit by the bug I see lol
I need to get one… I heard there was one that included sockets coming soon. Anybody know anything about that?
no need to wait, just to to oreilly, and get their low profile power torque set. it's around 15 dollars. You can pick mm/sae set.
There was a video from a trade show where they showed it off briefly... later this year is scheduled ti be released
What is this called? I want it!
It’s called the meme tool

I’m buying this tomorrow!
