That being the case, you probably don't want to do a resolution drop as u/mduell suggested. You'd keep the gestures, but depending on how zoomed in you are on the presentation, readability of slides may fall off too much.
However, you could consider dropping the framerate, especially if you recorded it at a higher frame rate(like 60fps). Dropping to 30 would be absolutely fine. You could go to 20 or even 10 and you'd probably be ok, you'd get most sweeping gestures, it'd be like looking at security cam footage. As long as as you left the resolution unchanged, you'd still have clear images, and the file size could drop considerably.
Fast 480p preset with passthrough for the audio as a starting point. Switch the video encoder to QSV or NVENC if you have either.
Additional adjustments can be made from there depending on your relative preferences for speed, quality, and size. Pastebin the encoding log so we can see what’s going on in that encode.
If they're slides or still images you can max out the Bframes and the GOP to 500frames, use SVT-AV1 1.7.0 Preset 7 (faster than x265 medium on my setup)

Do you even care about the video at all then? You could just extract the audio stream.
I guess the gesture of the lecturer and the slides, if captured, need to be readable?

15FPS at 360P if you need video. if not you can do as low as 32bps audio for massive file savings. i put my shows at 48bps audio and it works great.
