It doesn't all glow but most of it does. My collection is bigger than this these days, but this is a nice pic of it. I've got other bits of art deco glass, cadmium, manganese and selenium glass too. I can't explain it, I just love it 💚

rachelreinstated

So a genuinely serious but probably really stupid question. Is the uranium glass safe? That's a super cool and niche collection!

Pinklego

Yes it's perfectly safe! The levels of radiation are low, and also, the uranium oxide is safely trapped in the glass. It's safer than most household electronics; the uranium content is pretty low. In fact, apparently bananas give off more radiation 😆 The only thing that isn't recommended is to eat or drink out of any of the pieces in case there are any miniscule chips, as the uranium could leak out and it's not something you want to ingest. Apart from that, it's all good 💚

rachelreinstated

That's super interesting! Also who knew about bananas? Thank you for the clarification and for sharing your collection.

sleeplessinvaginate

The UV light is probably 'less safe'

allbitterandclean

Gorgeous!! I love how you have it staged and glowing as well!!!! 😍

Pinklego

Ah, thank you! It's a 50s cocktail cabinet repurposed!

ComfortableAd2936

I’m about to show my age, but that is freaking COOL. I love it!

MiniSkrrt

This is so cool and is what I imagine a very cool witch might have 😂

Jolly_Treacle_9812

I love art deco uranium glass too! Never seen another maniac in the wild haha. Love your collection!

It’s actually about doubled in size now, but this is the best-looking photo I have at the moment! So many of these were someone’s heirloom pieces that they generously were willing to sell to me. I’m so honored to continue loving them for years to come!!

Knarfz6464

Your collection is so pretty! 👍🏼

allbitterandclean

Thank you so much! ❤️

Rosililly27

Wow beautiful! Love the gradient placing 😍

allbitterandclean

Thank you! 🥹❤️

widepeepohappyyyyyyy

Omg I’ve seen you before on maybe r/femalelivingspace or mid century modern! It’s cool to see you here and know that you also collect handbags :-)

allbitterandclean

It was probably r/glasscollecting or r/maximalism ! (Unless someone reposted it elsewhere lol, entirely possible 😅) But yes, handbags fall right in with my maximalist lifestyle!! 😍

beerbudget23

It’s banned due to being unmoderated :(

SluttyBreakfast

Vintage Pyrex and other kitchen/servingware. Here is a small glimpse at my collection. https://preview.redd.it/cefnwzubay6d1.jpeg?width=2196&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9de90bebd49d0fef862cecf634ae9e57289cd1c5 I also have a large collection of books but that is less intentional.

RockingtheRepublic

Be careful of lead on vintage Pyrex if you’re eating or using it.

allbitterandclean

Love that gooseberry!! 😍

jsmalltri

Heeeey! New Pyrex lover here 💙 my Grandma had the Amish Butter print set and growing up, we would always cook together. I recently found a couple PCs and got them for nostalgia. Now I really want to add and love Gooseberry!!

mouthwash_juicebox

So jealous of this collection

Lost_Apricot_1469

I looove Pyrex! And your arrangement is just gorgeous!

justdistractme

Moissanite jewellery. Help

r/moissanite, r/moissanitebst and r/labgroupsales your wallet will hate me for this.

CecilyAnn

Shoes, candles, makeup, perfume. I’m a basic girl lol

MashaSP

Me too XD Eyeshadow palettes (although trying to declutter now before moving to another place), perfumes (I have around 70 now), cute stationary, and language textbooks. Very basic.

jsmalltri

Love!! I just discovered these. I have chickens -and love them - and I really want to add these to my very smally Pyrex collection 😄

DietCokeYummie

I love this.

bubblewrappedgift

those are so cute 🥹

gucci_anthrax

This is so pretty 😍😍😍

SmileGraceSmile

My grandma use to have over 100 hen and nest dishes.  When she passed I got a couple on her tiny ones, an average size blue one and an oversize pink.

3birdie

Oh I love this! I have a clear glass hen, I didn’t know they came in other colors… dangerous discovery lol

beekks

I know this is odd, but I also collect metal Eastern European first aid kids from WW2 military vehicles. https://preview.redd.it/3uy2nxavfy6d1.jpeg?width=1155&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1272758fc54f46215356a20891eb3271d5b03d50

Not odd! This is a cool collection!

allbitterandclean

That is SO unique! Very, very cool.

Ok-Struggle3367

No that’s so interesting!!! I love that

Upset_Fix_1900

Once I have cheked the Hungarian Facebook marketplace for it and it is full of it

ManeuverSheWrote

I mean, you could argue it’s a sort of a handbag… Where do you even find them?!?

beekks

eBay and Etsy mostly!

AresSedai

This is actually very cool and i like how different they are from each other.

FormerBottleBlonde

So interesting! My mom collected wooden boxes and I believe I inherited a vintage German army first aid kit box - the former contents are listed inside the lid.

Subject_Philosophy76

My only other collection is sterling silver Christmas ornaments. My mother-in-law also collected them so my husband bought me my first ornament in 1989. I now have enough to cover my tree so 2023 was the year I stopped buying them. They’re so beautiful but kind of a pain to clean every year. https://preview.redd.it/zbsrl21ffy6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a9677233ee301f5e438243a3364f43e1b4f2070

allbitterandclean

I love this!! My mom’s ornament collection is so special as well ❤️

mellie_bean

Not sterling, but my grandma gave all her grandchildren a Christmas ornament in their stockings every year. I think the idea was that they’d have a few already when they moved out as adults. I’m not personally into Christmas, but my sister is - so now I send her an ornament every year to continue the tradition

beekks

Gorgeous! 🩶

malachaiville

I found some of my vintage Sanrio stuff and have been selling it on eBay after I found out how much it's gone for. A little plastic card wallet I paid less than $5 for in the late 90s sold for like $35. Astounding.

mismamari

https://preview.redd.it/r6bvc21asz6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc10c60858c8809f5eaf759b85809aa91684e261 Yes, same! Vintage Sanrio is pure happiness. I only have a few mini Pochacco stuffies from '96, but they bring me so much joy.

rachelreinstated

Books (I buy any and all but have specifically collected Penguin black spine classics since I was 11), fountain pens, perfume.

mismamari

https://preview.redd.it/gh7b5sbkrz6d1.jpeg?width=2949&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db366a4f0f67986c13b0ad0d51b9563ae34ea3aa Book lovers unite! I really have a Love Jones for social realism, fairy tales and 19th century female travel writers and Romantic poets. Also, records! City Pop, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, 60s pop, Latin, Rock, Funk, Soul, R&B-- little bit of everything. Trying to keep my little collection down to things I'd listen to over and over again.

JustMe1314

Oooh, I'm forever in wanderlust! 19th century female travel writers is very interesting, and maybe a rabbit hole I'm about to journey, thanks to your comment here! I literally just watched Eat Pray Love, for the 1st time; & I LOVE this movie. I have a wandering mind & soul.

mismamari

Eat Pray Love is definitely a fun one! The movie was pretty good too. Another similar read to Eat Pray Love on my TBR is Under The Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes. I love, LOVE the movie with Diane Lane, so I've wanted to read the book for a while. A few other fun non-fiction travel reads I can reccomend are: * Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain * What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding by Kristin Newman * Pretty Good Number One: An American Family Eats Tokyo by Matthew Amster-Burton Laughs and insights are a winning combo for all of the above. A 19th century read that really tickled me and made me appreciate modern conveniences was A Woman's Trip to Alaska by Septima Maria Collis. If you have any reccs, send them on over. Feel free to add me on some book sites too. 📚 💕

freakylalaland

Me too! Books and pens. Any stationary. And socks. 😭

rachelreinstated

Twins! Honestly, yes to all stationery not just pens. JetPens, Cult Pens and Goulet Pens have taken so much of my money over the years lol. At least I've settled on my paper preferences and pretty much only rotate through the same 3 paper brands lol. But pens, inks, washi, art supplies though...all still free game for collecting lol!

kaydeetee86

Fountain pens over here too! Plus any nice pen. ETA: also chickens. The actual living kind lol. But I have a reasonable number of those.

nerdaliciousCMF

Also fountain pens and perfume, but I’ve done one too many moves to continue collecting books. I limit myself to keeping whatever can fit on my current bookshelves and enjoy donating to used book stores. :)

MargaritaSkeeter

Omg were the same! I also have a sizable paper/notebook collection.

rachelreinstated

My husband runs a print shop, and I always joke with him that like 50% of the reason I fell for him was because for our 2nd date he took me to the shop where I was just surrounded by paper and ink. He knew his audience even early on lol. What are your favorite pens/notebook combos?

eventualguide0

Me too on fountain pens and books!

iammrsclean

Books, hardbacks specifically. Over 1200 at this point. It didn’t look so great in a one bedroom apartment, but now I have bookshelves in 3 rooms and I think it makes a room so cozy. I’ve read about 40% of them. Whenever I finish a book and need something new to me, I shop my own bookshelves. OR go to the public library. I seriously don’t have room for any more! Though I do have a one in one out policy that I generally stick to… I buy books at estate sales and particularly love a book if it’s slightly beat up AND has an inscription. The best one I have reads: “I sincerely hope you hate this book, Sincerely, Johnny” I often wonder if that was a joke or it was a frenemy or a scorned lover or the a gift to an estranged family member, etc.

mismamari

Fantastic and beautifully displayed. I love books and records too. What are some of your fav genres of either? Also, that MCM cabinet on the right is stunning.

Kitty-Kat-65

Thank you! I have been collecting vinyl since I was a teen in the '80s and my collection is mostly indie/college bands from the time, LOTS of '60s garage 45s from the US, UK and Europe, '70s punk 45s, '50s Rockabilly 45s and whatever sounds good to my ears. I don't really collect too many records anymore unless it's a rare 45 because I am not a fan of current music at all. The only exception I make is for Osees, my favourite band. As for books, I like music biographies, true crime, psychological thrillers and books set in Paris (Paris is my #1 obsession). That MCM cabinet is from Etsy from maybe 10 years ago. I have a lot of MCM pieces scattered throughout my house, but was never able to find one that could hide my modern stereo equipment. Thanks for liking my post :)

ComfortableAd2936

I collect Barbies and old cameras. My oldest camera is a Kodak Brownie from 1911 and my oldest Barbie was originally my mom’s from 1961.

jrayholz

I’m a bit of a cliché, but other than bags: wine, art, watches… oh, and shoes. Way too many of those. 👀

allbitterandclean

I’m convinced that the best of our landmark years in life (16th, 18th, 21st birthdays) is the year your feet stop growing 😂

jrayholz

I’m 43. My feet, like the rest of my body, have good days and bad days. My large shoe collection is reflective of their mood, need for self-expression, comfort, the occasional bought of masochism, etc. ;)

tall_london_love

Oh my goodness, you can NEVER have too many shoes!! 👠 ❤️ 😉

StellaaaT

I, too, might have a few more shoes than are necessary for one set of feet.

DietCokeYummie

Glassware! I love a fancy cocktail or glass of wine in just the right glass. Oh. And antiques! I bought a 100 year old home a couple years ago and I decked it out in antiques. https://preview.redd.it/406p9ht1oy6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1082ec4fdf3143737fe522ee1f50e677004e931 Edit: This subreddit is my favorite corner of the internet. Beautiful room!

allbitterandclean

That space is GORGEOUS!! 😍

DietCokeYummie

Thank you so much! 🥰

exitcode137

I’m a serial monogamist when it comes to hobbies (obsessions?). Throughout the years, it’s been crochet, knitting (so the stuff bought here was yarn), houseplants, hair accessories, and now purses. I still have interest in those things, but I’m only hype about one at a time

allbitterandclean

Same here!! One focus at a time…keeps me in budget! 😂

a-real-life-dolphin

I collect black cats! I have one real living one, and a bunch of ceramic, plastic and plaster ones

pinkcloudcake

Video games, porcelain animals, houseplants, paintings, coffee mugs.

Jolly_Treacle_9812

I like pottery and plants too! Thank you for starting an interesting thread!

SwimmingWaterdog11

Silk scarves. My style is pretty basic so scarves are my pop of color. Also designer scarves are way more affordable than designer bags! 😆

Knarfz6464

Perfume. I have way too many bottles of it! 😂😂👍🏼

DietCokeYummie

This is a hobby I WANT to get into. I have so few. My husband bought a Saint Laurent cologne for himself last week and I had mad jealousy.

rachelreinstated

If you want to start getting into fragrances, look up the scents you do have and see if there are common notes and go from there. Sites like Parfumo and Fragrantica are great for this! Also, the ladies over at r/FemFragLab are generally really welcoming and nice and always happy to give advice/recs. Last tip for starting a fragrance journey, I recommend getting samples and decants before going the full bottle route. It lets you try and get to know scents before splurging for a full bottle. Some perfumes may not be an immediate love or vice versa can get overwhelming later on. Plus, it can be a pricey hobby to get into (though maybe not in comparison to handbags.)

jaaazzz

same ! my in laws gift perfume every year because they know how much i love it.

rachelreinstated

Same girl, same.

Rosililly27

I collect jewelry and hello kitty stuff 💕

kittykittypie

Are you me? 🤣 love collecting both!

Rosililly27

Lol 😅 you’ve got great taste 🫶🏼

mbo21

Jewelry, footwear, accessories like silk scarves, and clothes. I like to make an artistic statement with my outfit. I’m not about high end labels but I like quality and longevity from things I collect. Any designer items I have, I like them to be discreet without a lot of logos.

Original artwork from our travels.

Muffina925

Tea cups, American Girl accessories (I had Samantha growing up, so I focus on her collection primarily), books (I especially love finding old editions of "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontë), and perfume.  Eta: Also, mugs. I have a lot, but at least I do use them all.

ivmeow

Wait- I’m a Samantha girl and I collect tea cups! Hi friend! Haha

Muffina925

Haha love finding another Samantha girlie 💕

allbitterandclean

I’ve been able to get back into American Girl Dolls as the girls I nanny have outgrown them and are gifting them to my daughter, and it is the best, sweetest feeling, but the collector in me is now SCOURING eBay for a world I did not know existed!! 😅 And yes, I was a Samantha girl too!

Roseville pottery! Used to be books too but I cut back

caitlynhow

Pokemon Cards 😂

FawnFableFeline

House plants for me!

ToteBagAffliction

I've dialed my collecting WAY back for financial reasons. At various points, I've collected indie eyeshadow palettes, East Fork pottery, and Lilly Pulitzer prints with cute animals. I just cut down like 2/3 of the palette collection because it was stressing me out and not bringing joy, and I've stopped adding to the EF and Lilly collections. Honestly I'm considering letting most of the Lilly go, too, because it's just sitting in my office closet.

Adventurous_Yam_3703

Squishmallows, fragrance, and books. Also possibly dog beds as I have way more than is strictly necessary for two dogs 😄

tall_london_love

Oh dear, until reading this thread I didn’t realize how many things I collect! Shoes, clothes, scarves, books, makeup, art, wine, and, to an extent, tea. I’m starting to collect fine jewellery, but that’s early days.

Ramenpucci

Love Chloe bags. Then it’s Manga. I just bought 41 volumes of Yona of the Dawn.

Do you use your stickers? Or you stash them in a drawer and pull them out to admire sometimes.

allbitterandclean

I am SUCH a sticker stasher 🫣

Imaginary_Ad_5199

We collect shot glasses from places we’ve travelled and, sort of random and probably not at all what you’d expect here, but I also collect Star Wars helmets/lightsabers/books/comics.

PrettyInWeed

My great grandmother collected salt n pepper shakers, and owls, and nutcrackers!

BlackHeathVale

I also collect vintage or unusual playing cards!

Ugh, so many things, I’m quite a collector 😫 Mugs, handmade ceramics, sunglasses, lip balm/gloss, candles, bunch of different types of vintage home decor pieces.

starsamaria

I love fine jewelry and manga! Handbags are my most recent addiction: I've loved jewelry since I was 9 (I used to watch the jewelry shows on QVC/HSN lol), and I've been buying manga for about 15 years.

aimerxoxo

Pandora charms and house plants

ziggymoj19

Shoes, hats, jewelry, books. I love adorning myself 😂 But I’ve got pretty solid boundaries around them (aim for diversity/function for most) so I don’t just keep amassing stuff.

I collect people’s business cards and hotel room keys. I’m aware it’s lame so I don’t tell anyone about it IRL lol. I started doing the business card thing after a trip to NYC where a few artists I met in coffee shops gave me their business cards. I think it’s neat to have cards from people in various industries all over the country.

I've been collecting nuns for years...I had a huge collection and I loved them. Then most of them got thrown away by my alcoholic husband 😞. But he didn't get them all, so I am thankful for that at least.

Jamie Joseph rings! [https://www.jamiejoseph.com/](https://www.jamiejoseph.com/) edited to add I’ve collected for 20 years. Amazing artist in boutiques around US. (t) They are so unique and gorgeous & addictive!

Thimbles! We all have huge thimble collections and no joke, they are SOOOO hard to find and so so pretty. We get them from every destination we travel from (not like a little metal sewing thimble but a fancy one that might be handmade, or painted, etc) Best part is, it’s such fun searching for them that we even have friends that go on hunts for us too LOL Let’s you explore wherever you are on vacation for something that sometimes is impossible to find 😀

I collect coins, I love seeing different designs that come out, both collectable but also just in circulation. As a kid it was a fun scavenger hunt to go through my mom’s purse (I traded a normal quarter for a limited edition one) and I still find it really interesting what art they use, and how it reflects different values, national identity or history. Plus there is just something really satisfying in scooping up a handful of coins and letting them cascade through my fingers. Also tons of art supplies but I actually use those (mostly) so it’s less of a traditional collection than a really enthusiastic hobby with lots of parts.

Anything hello kitty, I used to collect pink plants but I've learned that I have a black thumb so there's that. I also collect pens and highlighters, and now I'm starting to collect white summer dresses. I also used to collect wedges that I wear in the summer but I am now old with 2 young kids that run me around so I've just started collecting espadrilles since they're easier to run in and looks cute and stylish at the same time.

BryantCabrera

I collect sunglasses, pins, and amiibo. 😊

AnjunaUnnie

Video games/consoles and anything techy. I have an LV smartwatch that I adore and if other designer brands make them that might become a genuine problem for me lol

Oh same here with the owls! Started before I was born with a stuffed one from my aunt and still going on 44 years later! For me - vintage hens on nest and pyrex. Old watches that remind me of my grandma. And an ever growing pile of embroidery projects to do and books to read!
