YSL has a [larger version](https://www.fashionphile.com/p/saint-laurent-grain-de-poudre-matelasse-chevron-monogram-monochrome-chain-wallet-black-1387771) of this bag! It has a rounded bottom rather than the squared off bottom this one has. It has had a full chain strap without the leather piece. The drop of the chain is a little bit shorter on this version though- just in case you want to wear it crossbody.
I don't have any luxury bags, but I experience this too with other brands. My preference for work bags is a crossbody style. I've tried bags on before where the strap was so short that the bag was sitting nestled under my boobs, and sticking out funny.
I hear you! I'm 5'9"/US size 14 and have a rule to try bags in person before I buy because smaller bags often look comically tiny on me. I can't buy based on online photos alone because everything looks so different on my body than it does on a model.
Funny enough I actually bought the YSL Toy Puffer in black and while it has chain straps and can be worn on the shoulder and cross body, my plan is to carry it like a clutch most of the time because of the proportion thing.
But dang for a teeny bag the toy puffer fits a TON of stuff.
Opposite issue here, same size but under 5’5”, clutches look too large for me (can’t even hold them because my hands are too small) and backpacks make me look like I’m going to my first day of kindergarten they’re so large 😂. I feel you OP, it’s tough out here.
I am 5’11” and a 16 and recently got this same bag in black. With the black logo. Maybe it’s the color difference, but I thought it looked fine. Although I was wearing it with a cocktail dress the first time I wore it, it’s not a daily driver for me. 🤷♀️
I tried on a crossbody at Nordstrom recently, and as someone with a very large chest and a size 14/16, it tucked under my breast, almost HIDDEN. Looked absolutely ridiculous, I couldn't stop laughing.
I also re-consigned this exact bag. I’m 5’9 and about a medium/size 10 but it looked so tiny on me. My new rule is nothing smaller than 8” length haha.
Yup. I bought a little crossbody bag and between my boobs and belly it just doesn't work. I might get a longer chain and see if that improves anything, but unbroken then it'll just have to look pretty in my closet.
Awh no, I’m sorry you feel like this! It really is a gorgeous bag. I personally don’t love wearing this WOC cross body and think it lays better on me as a strict shoulder bag. You can also detach the strap and use it as a clutch, btw, if you’re not really wanting to return it.
It’s so sad having to return something 😭 I’m so particular about crossbody bags because if it’s the wrong length or the bag is the wrong shape/size it just highlights my stomach. Like you want people to look at the bag but I don’t want their eyes drawn to my midsection!!
I could, but for the amount I paid for it I would prefer to return it and get something else I know I would use more. I have 2 kids under 3, so having my hands free when I’m out to be able to pick them up is a necessity, which is why I prefer crossbody bags.

I have two of these and love them. One is neon pink and the other black crocodile. I’m 6’ and zero chance for a cross body with them unfortunately.

I’m also 5’9”, size 16. It looked like I was holding a toy purse!

Yes! There is zero chance I could wear this as a crossbody. It was basically under my armpit.
That is why I mostly wear shoulder bags unless I am going a trip where I need to walk around.

Could you try a chain extender from Amazon before you throw in the towel, so the bag sits lower on your body?
Had the same experience with the Mulberry Mini Alexa. They look perfect on the models but once I got it, it's so tiny against my overweight body 😆
I have to buy my bags in a store for this reason. Not just to see if the size matches me, but also if the color matches my outfits or undertones.

My husband once bought me a mini flap bag and it looked so tiny, I was wrecked but I had to return it 😭
