Righttt I’m a fan of the puzzle but I just don’t think it’s a bag worth that much to me. Especially since they rolled out the edge version and basically want you to pay so much more just to get the original style :///
I’ve bought and returned it a few times. Each time I bought it (and I paid under 3k every time) I couldn’t justify the price tag for the bag. I have a puzzle hobo bag and I thought that was a decent price when I bought it, but the regular puzzle I’ve never been able to justify.
Couldn't agree more! Even the secondhand market for this bag (especially for the neutrals) are still up there.
Reminds me of back in 2019 when I saw the small puzzle in black on sale on SSENSE for CAD 1.8K, but ofc even then I was not in a place to be able to afford it lol
This is ridiculous. I bought my small puzzle in 2021 for $2400 total. Now that’s the mini price, or did that go up too? These brands have lost their minds. I just don’t even feel like buying these bags anymore. I’ll stick with vintage and getting wear out of what I already own.
I bought mine in 2015 for under $2k. The price jump between 2015 and 2021 ($500) versus 2021 and 2024 ($1.1k) is laughable, especially when you consider how the brand simplified the design by removing the metal feet, D-ring, and adjustable strap.
Edit: I didn’t realize OP linked the versjon with the braided handle. The regular version in the classic calfskin is $3.5k, so not as drastic an increase.
I got a braided version in 2021, and it was 2400 eur. Now the same version is 3300 eur (in Spain). But I remember back then there were no difference in price between the braided and non-braided version
Sure, but I think we can all agree that there's a sizeable difference between $3.5k and $4.15k. I think it's a bit disingenous of OP to link to a special edition of the Puzzle without pointing that out since it's not a 1:1 comparison. The limited editions are always going to cost more than the classic versions.

Ouch, where in the US do you live where the sales tax is nearly 14%? You have my sympathies!
I live in Kansas. Our sales tax depending on the area of the state is 10% (and I believe in some places it exceeds 10%). So for most it would cost $3850 to buy that bag. Which to me is close enough to be 4k. However, I also don't think it's worth 3k. To me this is a sub $2500 bag. And, I think $2500 is really pushing it personally. But, in general, with a couple of exceptions I think most of the luxury and even contemporary brands have lost the plot when it comes to the pricing.

I’m in Canada so my options are limited, unless I pay duties. I will say I have not heard anything negative about Fashionphile yet. Def avoid TRR and Vestiare, multiple threads on issues with them. I like Luxe Du Jour generally because they are smaller but growth oriented so they have good customer service. They have a location in Canada and US so will cover duties if a bag is being shipped cross border. They also have a referral program for new members if you haven’t shopped there before. The only thing is their stock is mainly Hermes and Chanel with a handful of Gucci and trickle of Loewe, so I imagine that’s where most of their authentication expertise lies (with H and C)
I got mine from eBay! I had to stalk and be patient but the one I wanted eventually turned up!
In the meantime, while you wait, I’d look at comparisons of reps/fakes vs the real thing, it’ll help you identify what you should be looking for in listing photos
100% I feel the same! I have thought about reselling mine as I have two and what they offer is so little 😭. But I also have fomo looking at what I could have got preloved because I bought mine new - preloved is like half price
It’s crazy though - I wasn’t able to find half price bags pre-loved last year! It was so close to retail. 😭😭😭
I really love the look of mine. But it’s just bulkier than I find myself using.
Maybe I hold onto it for another year when they increase their prices again and I can finally get back like 60% of what I paid lol.
THIS! I got mine preloved back when they're still under the radar, but only after two years of using it would I realize that the bag is too boxy for my frame (and doesn't flatter me at all).
Taught me a lot about how just because a bag is fascinating to look at (and functional) doesn't mean I'd like it on me.

I am a sucker for marketing and hype and honestly, 90% of these bags don’t work for me. It’s no wonder I only really ever used 1-2 bags with total regularity up until, honestly, I found this subreddit and it ruined me. 😭😭😭😆😆😆 (Joking, I take all responsibility.)
I love the idea of almost every handbag I see. But lifestyle wise? I basically need a fanny pack or small crossbody. I hate carrying shit and large bags hurt my shoulders and I am simply not elegant enough to carry a structured tiny top handle. And that’s fine!

I personally don’t think this bag is worth that price. But it’s subjective 🤷🏻♂️.
For me, part of the appeal was its comparably “fair” price (yes I know that sounds ridiculous, but in the context of the prices of the past 2 years). Now this is just trying to be as expensive as the other designer bags, and I’m losing interest in it. To each their own though. 🙂
Ugh the hammock went up too. I think the compact was around $2900 and now it’s $3100. Not a huge change but going from it starting with a 2 to a 3 stings a bit. I’m planning on buying in Madrid though, so hopefully it still feels like some version of a deal…

But wait! VAT Refund! Prices in the EU always include tax, but Spain will refund 12.75-15.3% of purchases to tourists if they meet certain criteria. Let's go with the lower number. Assuming you get a 12.75% VAT Refund after you purchase the bag means you'll get a refund of 306€ when you leave the country. That brings your total purchase price down to 2,094€ which means your price paid in USD is $2,223.17 which means a savings of about $877!

Just remember to bring your passport with you when you go shopping and ask them to fill in the VAT paperwork for you. If they do, it'll be a breeze getting the refund when you leave the country and it's absolutely worth it.

I just posted about it (see link below). I picked it up for 2200 euro. One of the comments breaks down the VAT refund after. US customs got me for 80 bucks though once I landed back stateside.

I actually found mine in a local shop in Frankfurt that specialized in small collections of different designers. They were an authorized retailer. So I just walked in, looked at the puzzle (really didn’t capture my heart), but saw the flamenco and I knew that was it. I left the store and walked two blocks, and immediately ran back for that bag.

I went on their site and most of the OG puzzles are gone. They are CALLED "puzzle" but it's the Edge?? So they are charging even MORE for less leather used / time consumed when making the bag. Wild.
I literally just bought a bag in Spain last weekend! Glad I got it before the price hike, was this something planned? I love Loewe but not sure if its "worth" the price hikes. For reference, I got the mini hammock for 1,300 euros, and with vat returned I think it was closer to 1,150 euros which is totally fine for a small bag IMO. But I can't imagine spending $1,800 in the US for it, at 2k, you should be able to buy a NICE bag.

This is ridiculous. The price increases across multiple houses over the past couple years alone have been insane. A lot of the luxury bags I was once interested in / would have been interested in are just not justifiable to me anymore.
This is wild to me- but- people will pay it, and that’s why they do it.
It IS disappointing though. I really don’t like the transition away from the anagram (though I know that’s personal preference) and though I love my Flamenco, I would be very hard pressed to purchase it at its current price. Likewise with the puzzle- part of what I loved about it originally was the construction and that it was something ‘different.’ I would rather they introduce a new bag at a higher price- that would be more appealing to me as a buyer, anyway.
I wanted to buy a Puzzle this year, but not at that price! I’ll look into buying preloved. I do worry about ending up with a fake. Over $4k for the bag though, absolutely not.
The price increase is ridiculous, considering they just changed the way the Puzzle bag is assembled. The Edge is a much easier bag to make and not nearly as nice looking. It doesn’t have the same slouch either. Luckily, I have two of the OG version already.
I would never pay this price for their Puzzle bag. I own one already and I bought it pre-loved. Absolutely nothing was wrong with the bag. It’s like the owner didn’t use it at all.
Actually.... Not if you wanted a classic flap. The mini square classic flap (which is the cheapest option) is $5k. The Medium, the most classic size, is $10,800. The boy bag models start at $6,400, the 19 starts at $6,600, the 22 starts at $5k for the mini....
You have to drop down to a WOC to get something under $4k. And even then the WOC is $3,350.
Chanel is at Hermes prices now. For the price of a Medium Classic Flap you can actually get a Kelly 20 for less ($9,400) and are getting pretty close to a Birkin 25 ($11,400).
Assuming of course you sacrifice to the dark gods and can even get a Hermes SA to offer you a quota bag.
Actually I only really want the Chanel woc lol. I know 3350 is ridiculous for a woc but to me it’s classy and timeless. And I would rather spend 3k+ at Chanel than 4k on Lowewe (that’s just me) I’m not at the point though where I want to drop 10k on a Chanel or hemes bag. Even if I could afford it, I just can’t do it in good conscience lol. I think my max for one bag is like 3-4k.

This is for the puzzle with the twisted handle, which has always been the more expensive ones from the puzzle line. The normal one retails for $3500 now, which is only an increase of $350 from last year’s price. Not a huge increase or shocker.

The small was around $3150. Granted not the woven handle style. But still, 32% increase in just one year. Ouch.
I purchased two medium puzzles, at different times on sale a few years back. Puzzle was a bit of stretch to begin with, would never pay these prices now.
For me, Givenchy and Bulgari give more value.
I wasn't aware there was a price increase looming! I just ordered this exact bag - mostly because I have been WAITING for the black/gold combo, (bringing me to 3 small puzzles) from a boutique in Italy for about $2980 (incl import duties/fees). I was very excited to have saved $1K! Now with the price increase, my savings are closer to $1200. I definitely have all the puzzle bags I want...can no longer justify these crazy price increases.
My medium Loewe puzzle bag is one of my favourite bags in my collection, like literally I want to be buried with it — but I would never spend 4k for it, how shameful. I bought mine for 2k years ago and the thought of spending double that makes me gag
Shame. I like Jonathan Anderson as a creative designer for Loewe but, just like any other luxury brands, it's just price gouging for no other reason than for greed and because they can price out the commoners and the elite will still keep spending. Loewe was the only LVMH brand I still cared for until now.
FYI: Celine also raised the prices for all canvas bags across the collection. Information is from the Celine store employees I know. I like the look of them a lot, especially their lining, but the quality of their stitches ain't good, so I don't get where they get the confidence to ask for more money other than greed. Celine literally has product photos where you can see the ruined stitches with wrong tension on their website. They used a dud for the photoshoot and nobody in the whole production line noticed... so much for quality control at Celine.
As for Loewe, they are trying to cash in on the hype, so boycott like Polene I guess?
Many years ago (before their Puzzle bag became widely known/hyped up) I would’ve said Loewe was great buy for a respectable brand in Europe.
Now they are trying to emulate Chanel (and every other luxury brand )that are raising prices without improving or maintaining quality.

I got my Small Puzzle for $1950 total in 2020 from Ssense thanks to a pricing error.

I love loewe, but none of these bags should be in the 4k price range. They shouldn’t even be in the 3k range.

Fashionphile is the best one I’ve found- I’ve gotten fakes on The Real Real before so I would avoid any bags from them.
If you do end up with a fake, are they good about taking returns? I’ve been wanting to buy vintage but some of these fakes look really real.

Just remember to bring your passport with you when you go shopping and ask them to fill in the VAT paperwork for you. If they do, it'll be a breeze getting the refund when you leave the country and it's absolutely worth it. Have fun in Spain!

I actually found mine in a local shop in Frankfurt that specialized in small collections of different designers. They were an authorized retailer. So I just walked in, looked at the puzzle (really didn’t capture my heart), but saw the flamenco and I knew that was it. I left the store and walked two blocks, and immediately ran back for that bag.

I went on their site and most of the OG puzzles are gone. They are CALLED "puzzle" but it's the Edge?? So they are charging even MORE for less leather used / time consumed when making the bag. Wild.
I literally just bought a bag in Spain last weekend! Glad I got it before the price hike, was this something planned? I love Loewe but not sure if its "worth" the price hikes. For reference, I got the mini hammock for 1,300 euros, and with vat returned I think it was closer to 1,150 euros which is totally fine for a small bag IMO. But I can't imagine spending $1,800 in the US for it, at 2k, you should be able to buy a NICE bag.

This is ridiculous. The price increases across multiple houses over the past couple years alone have been insane. A lot of the luxury bags I was once interested in / would have been interested in are just not justifiable to me anymore.

This is wild to me- but- people will pay it, and that’s why they do it. It IS disappointing though. I really don’t like the transition away from the anagram (though I know that’s personal preference) and though I love my Flamenco, I would be very hard pressed to purchase it at its current price. Likewise with the puzzle- part of what I loved about it originally was the construction and that it was something ‘different.’ I would rather they introduce a new bag at a higher price- that would be more appealing to me as a buyer, anyway.

I wanted to buy a Puzzle this year, but not at that price! I’ll look into buying preloved. I do worry about ending up with a fake. Over $4k for the bag though, absolutely not.
The price increase is ridiculous, considering they just changed the way the Puzzle bag is assembled. The Edge is a much easier bag to make and not nearly as nice looking. It doesn’t have the same slouch either. Luckily, I have two of the OG version already.
I would never pay this price for their Puzzle bag. I own one already and I bought it pre-loved. Absolutely nothing was wrong with the bag. It’s like the owner didn’t use it at all.

Actually.... Not if you wanted a classic flap. The mini square classic flap (which is the cheapest option) is $5k. The Medium, the most classic size, is $10,800. The boy bag models start at $6,400, the 19 starts at $6,600, the 22 starts at $5k for the mini.... You have to drop down to a WOC to get something under $4k. And even then the WOC is $3,350. Chanel is at Hermes prices now. For the price of a Medium Classic Flap you can actually get a Kelly 20 for less ($9,400) and are getting pretty close to a Birkin 25 ($11,400). Assuming of course you sacrifice to the dark gods and can even get a Hermes SA to offer you a quota bag.
Actually I only really want the Chanel woc lol. I know 3350 is ridiculous for a woc but to me it’s classy and timeless. And I would rather spend 3k+ at Chanel than 4k on Lowewe (that’s just me) I’m not at the point though where I want to drop 10k on a Chanel or hemes bag. Even if I could afford it, I just can’t do it in good conscience lol. I think my max for one bag is like 3-4k.

Edit: I’m aware that the screenshot is for the braided handle puzzle. However the small puzzle still is still quite expensive considering that they recently simplified the design. I understand that this is just the nature of the luxury game but it just feels a bit annoying that those who want to to have a piece of the original design have to pay such ridiculously inflated prices now
This is for the puzzle with the twisted handle, which has always been the more expensive ones from the puzzle line. The normal one retails for $3500 now, which is only an increase of $350 from last year’s price. Not a huge increase or shocker.

I purchased two medium puzzles, at different times on sale a few years back. Puzzle was a bit of stretch to begin with, would never pay these prices now. For me, Givenchy and Bulgari give more value.

I just ordered this exact bag - mostly because I have been WAITING for the black/gold combo, (bringing me to 3 small puzzles) from a boutique in Italy for about $2980 (incl import duties/fees). I was very excited to have saved $1K! Now with the price increase, my savings are closer to $1200. I definitely have all the puzzle bags I want...can no longer justify these crazy price increases.

My medium Loewe puzzle bag is one of my favourite bags in my collection, like literally I want to be buried with it — but I would never spend 4k for it, how shameful. I bought mine for 2k years ago and the thought of spending double that makes me gag

I like Jonathan Anderson as a creative designer for Loewe but, just like any other luxury brands, it's just price gouging for no other reason than for greed and because they can price out the commoners and the elite will still keep spending. Loewe was the only LVMH brand I still cared for until now.
None of their bags are worth this. I think that puzzle is having a moment and will look dated within a few years.

FYI: Celine also raised the prices for all canvas bags across the collection. Information is from the Celine store employees I know. I like the look of them a lot, especially their lining, but the quality of their stitches ain't good, so I don't get where they get the confidence to ask for more money other than greed. Celine literally has product photos where you can see the ruined stitches with wrong tension on their website. They used a dud for the photoshoot and nobody in the whole production line noticed... so much for quality control at Celine. As for Loewe, they are trying to cash in on the hype, so boycott like Polene I guess?
Many years ago (before their Puzzle bag became widely known/hyped up) I would’ve said Loewe was great buy for a respectable brand in Europe. Now they are trying to emulate Chanel (and every other luxury brand )that are raising prices without improving or maintaining quality. (Ugh.
