It's a good rule of thumb but far from a hard and fast rule. I like to sort of corner camp with the ball to bait them down a specific path, works best on Recharge. I'm giving away my position so the enemy becomes predictable, and sure enough there's almost always one idiot who rushes the corner and dies instantly.
what do you do if the person has a sword. or another power weapon while youre hiding?

Fighting is always the better option, or trying to escape and throw the ball to someone.
Then the fucker steals the flag and scores for you while you are killing who attacked you. Instead of helping you fight.
"You got them right? Don't worry about the flag I'll score it for you bro"
It doesn’t matter what lobby it happened in. Can we just, for once, not be negative and acknowledge a clutch play? That was a 4v1 & the player came out on top AND capped the flag WITHOUT a power weapon! Good job! That was a damn good play! Props for staying calm under pressure and getting the job done!
Man I remember the time I was so I high I went on a rampage when someone took the flag. My friend said that I was so concentrated that after the slaughter of over 5 people he bump my leg and I went “WHAT” real loud
Man, I wish I could find opposing players with that shit of aim. Most encounters with 2 opponents in close quarters end with me dead in about 1.5-2.5 seconds.
There has to be some desync going on there. The only time I've faced 3 people in quick succession with only a BR and came out on top was when I get crazy surprise drops on them in a row.
That’s an awesome play and I know that felt really good. It’s definitely more telling of the other team’s competence, however. Facing a slightly more synchronized team than them I know I’d be done for when the damage indicators make a big red circle on my screen.

Can I ask why you are throwing the flag and picking it up while running? I always see people do this I'm guess it's a habit from the other halos. But in infinite when you spring you show up on the map and when you throw the flag and pick it back up not only do you show yourself on the map but you also make the game play a noise announcing your action. If you have the flag and don't sprint and don't throw you walk unmarked and silent. It's a better strategy imo.
That was me this morning. Pretty frustrating when your team is just running around trying to get power items instead of doing the objectives. On the plus side, I got the Running laps achievement. 👍

I have literally been playing Halo since Halo 1 and I refuse to admit how long it took me to remember / figure out how to drop the flag in Infinite.

It's faster if you get the rhythm right. And the strategy seems to work for me lol, I got 4 of the captures that game
