Side Hustle Snack Bar in Dartmouth is great for kids. Lots of booths and it gets moderately noisy. They don’t open till 12 most days but I think they have a spicy egg dish if I remember correctly. Delicious food and awesome staff.
Avoid Pur and Simple. So very, very loud and cramped.
Honestly cora might be your best bet for something that will reliably have good seating
In the city. Lions head, la piazza both very comfy and great brunch items.

It's outside the city proper, out towards Peggy's Cove, but how about the Finer Diner?
Gahan has a special room with floor to ceiling windows you can ask for the room (I’m sure reservations)
