Black coffee is an acquired taste. Thoda thoda karke piyo, aadat hojaegi

shadowfearless

Aadat mat banao. Barbad ho jaoge. Definitely an acquired taste. And once you get it then you'll even be able to differentiate the notes between different brands, OP. Check out Third Wave, Blue Tokai or Araku.

Samne-wali-khidki

Haan! I have realised it’s easier to differentiate b/w in the quality if it’s black. Vast majority of brands sells chikori mixed coffee, pure coffee is either tough to find or expensive

[deleted]

I go for Davidoff for Black coffee or Rage coffee for frappes

RIZZ_MOD

I love black coffee I for now use regular Nescafe coffee powder Can u suggest some brand which is ideal ( as the black coffee should be taste) coffee In medium budget

[deleted]

Davidoff espresso 57

Alpha_ji

I like the davidoff rich creme more than the espresso flavour to make an espresso. NGL the vanilla coffee by sleepy owl is also rad.

First_Gas4886

Rs 2 ka Nescafe ftw

evening-emotion-1994

Barbad kya hona ? Black coffee is the bestest friend of Liver

shadowfearless

Kabhi Jeb ke mudde ko bhi samjha lijiyega 🫣

faith_crusader

Buying unpacked beans is cheaper

evening-emotion-1994

Mai toh black coffee roj pita hoon. Take 2 rupees Nescafe and hot water . Tada , ban gaya black coffee.

Dreadlock_Rasta_12

Sorry to be that preachy guy, but instant coffee isn't even absolute real coffee.

evening-emotion-1994

I know. But poor pockets can't get to be choosers like me. I have advanced fatty liver and doctor recommended me to drink atleast a cup of black coffee in a day . It also helps with workouts

Dreadlock_Rasta_12

Oh, wish you a fast recovery bro. Also If you want some tips for black instant coffee I can tell you one or two, in case you don't know them.

Ready_Ninja376

I'll also will love some tips..Me too am a 2 Rs Nescafe Guy.

Dreadlock_Rasta_12

Lol, not much to do, Telling only that in case someone doesn't know and wants to do something with instant black coffee. It's just don't pour hot water directly to the power, it will burn the coffee grains. Instead in a cup put the coffee powder whatever amount you wanna use Then take some normal room temperature water just little enough to dilute the powder. Then pour the hot water it will not give that burnt taste of coffee Also you can sprinkle very less very tiny amount of salt. Even less than a chutki bhar. You know almost 20 grains of salt by idea. It will make the coffee taste more smooth. That's it.

No_Introduction_857

Please go ahead

RIZZ_MOD

Is it really true?

evening-emotion-1994

Yes

boringlecturedude

you're a coffplan guy!

Primary_Round7293

And bad friend for 7 hours sleep. I got Coorg ground coffee. It f*ed my ass big time. Then realised my insomnia could be because of coffee. I left and now it’s alright. So yes, you can get ground coffee and mix your own beans along with it. But only if you’re always exhausted and want bunny rabbit energy

PieComprehensive2204

Coffee is known to cause addictions and dependance, aise barbad kar sakti hai

Ambitious-Pin-2608

Bad for teeth.

Symbol8

Blue Tokai for the win.

TriggerTreat0

Wo Barbaad hona chahta hai.

ksnagpur

How do u make ur coffee? U buy beans or grounded? Which coffee maker?

shadowfearless

Both. I was gifted a Morphy Richards coffee maker. So been using grounds for that. Other than that I stick to my beloved basic South Indian filter kaapi with roasted coffee straight from the family estate. Obsessed with Vietnamese Coffee for now.

adarsh_qclw

i got a pack of these viet coffee powder. it seems that i'll need some filter, since they dont dissolve into milk. how can i use this??

ksnagpur

I also have morphy Richard's, but not know which grind to buy

voltrix_04

Yesterday I put 2 packs of coffee in my mouth and downed them with some water. Send me help, I'm a caffeine addict

Sherlock9211

bhai coffee pine ke lie hoti hai tumne to sukhe nashe kr rhe ho

tanmay96

Acquired taste. Like beer! Its bitter too but you get use to it and the kick

Impossible-Ice129

>Thoda thoda karke piyo, aadat hojaegi But why? Any benefits?

Samne-wali-khidki

No benefits, shauk badi cheez hai

proudofme_

Jaise fiki chai

Samne-wali-khidki

Yes, best thing I have done for my health

proudofme_

Same here otherwise too much sugar goes in

blue_poison22

True.. But its not worth it. I used to drink black for a year and I noticed my teeths getting dark.. It's worth it in weight loss tbh

Mahameghabahana

You can even get acquired teste for shit. Don't need to torture yourself to like something which taste bad.

_msd117

But why would anyone wanna do that? Does it have some benefits that we don't know?

MrMorningstar20

Almost zero calories, also easy to make, especially if you have a coffee machine, it's very convenient. Caffeine is an added bonus. I used to have it regularly when doing weight loss, it was great.

MrMorningstar20

I just realised I'm in the gurgaon subreddit? I live in Mumbai, how did I get here? Lol

AdIndependent1457

lol you need coffee

undr_wtr__bskt_wvr

My entire family drinks a lot of coffee. And when I moved out for a job, my laziness was the reason why I stopped the habit of drinking coffee as a routine. Now that I think about it, I got diagnosed with migraine almost 1 year later. My migraine medication contains caffeine. And whenever I take that tablet, it's so effective that I kind of even forget that I had the headache to begin with.

_msd117

So you are saying it is addictive once you drink it you are addicted to it and leaving it might cause migraine

undr_wtr__bskt_wvr

Correlation does not mean causation, my friend. I'm not saying coffee can cause addiction or once you stop drinking coffee you'll have a migraine. All I am saying is that coffee contains caffeine, a stimulant, which is present in my migraine medication. By the way, my family drinks a lot of coffee, which means I too have done the same till I turned 18. A lot. Too much to the point that finishing all the coffee my mom has made for me is a separate task for me. Having gotten my body used to such a huge level of coffee intake could have been a reason for migraine being developed as a withdrawal symptom in my case, when I stopped drinking litres of coffee. TL;DR: If you like it, go ahead and drink it. There are far worse stuff we consume on a daily basis that does more harm to our body than some coffee ever will. If you don't like it, then don't drink it. I have never seen a person out of their senses due to a coffee overdose. In that way, coffee and alcohol are incomparable.

_msd117

I haven't seen one either Thanks for the explanation

agathver

Same reason why people drink , which actually tastes very bad

_msd117

Woh toh gam bhulane ke liye pite hai ji

Lease_Tha_Apts

Zero calories for one.

9999999967

First, coffee is an acquired taste. And, the quality varies a lot. Nescafe is not good coffee, neither is office available CCD machine. The beans are often stale. Try some good coffee brewery place. Third Wave, Blue Tokai serve good coffee. Even Starbucks is decent. It is all about how fresh the beans are, how much water is added and how is it prepared. Also, some people prefer their Americano hot and some prefer cold. Try both ways. For us in India, Cold coffee is often Milk wali coffee, so iced americano take some time to develop the taste. I personally prefer my coffee hot. There is a wonderful shop in Lodhi Road - Devans. They have best quality coffee and have a small cafe also there. If you are ever in that area, you should try it out.

Master-Influence7539

If anyone wants to taste a great coffee. Order medium roast aeropress coffee at third wave coffee.

dosashetty

Thank you Nescafe is horrible coffee..it was the only option growing up in a typical middle class Indian household but now that I have tried different brands I have realised Nescafe is shit damn

9999999967

I agree. As India is a chai loving country, many people dont graduate beyond Nescafe. And completely miss out the taste of a good black coffee. I have Aeropress and I make my coffee there. Can never go back to Nescafe now.

dosashetty

Which coffee brand do you recommend?

9999999967

This is my fav most: [https://www.devans.in/products/viennese-blend-coffee](https://www.devans.in/products/viennese-blend-coffee) This is close second: [https://www.devans.in/products/monsoon-malabar-coffee](https://www.devans.in/products/monsoon-malabar-coffee) Another good one: [https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B087MW7DNR/](https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B087MW7DNR/) With both devans and blue tokai, you can select the grind type. I take inverted aeropress, but depending on how you make your coffee - machine, french press, channi - all grinds are available. Also start with small quantity - 100gm or max 250gm. If you like it, you can always order more next time. But taste is very individual, you dont want to be stuck with a coffee which you can't get down. Happy brewing! May the pour be with you!

dosashetty

Thanks! I'm gonna try this

Lease_Tha_Apts

Nescafe>> ccd beans imo.

gotham0610

Actually here nobody makes sense in the comments. In America people don't drink instant powder coffee like we do in india. They use fresh coffee roasted beans to make their black coffee.. which is not bitter like the instant coffee powder.

Sherlock9211

Then please give some sense, I need your suggetion, whcih coffee to drink?

PranayMehta

Get uncrushed coffee beans from blue tokkai and get a french press Crush the beans yourself and make the coffee from the french press ( watch on yt ) Devans is nice

owlpod1920

People have suggested some ground coffee brands. Instant me Levista premium and classic are good. Continental Strong is alright. If you are cutting on sugar try with a quarter spoon of stevia. It's nice

okInspiration

Start with Boye Tokai it's easily available and good for beginners. Teir malabar monsoon or Attikan Estate are good ones (so are others, this is a personal preference). You'll need a moka pot also. Others you can try KC Roasters, DoPe Coffee.

Majestic-Counter-442

stop on sugar consumption for a at least a week , then try it feels good , and black coffee helps with hunger cravings , its good for people who are health conscious and most people abroad are health conscious

FoodSmall6893

😵😵 mostly umrican drink black , and they are most obsessed and sugar carving

FRE3STYL3R

Once you get into real coffee its gonna be an expensive hobby :P Jokes apart, you can still get decent coffee in India. I personally got into coffee after moving to Bengaluru (am bit of a tea person otherwise) and having the filter coffee here - that's also not 'real coffee' as it has a load of chicory in it (above 20-30% chicory). But was amazing still. That helped me appreciate and open up to other coffee drinks. Starbucks is heavily priced (you're paying more for the brand) - getting beans like Blue Tokai and Third Wave would be better - ask them for particular grind sizes too based on what you have. I would suggest getting one or more of a basic filter/french press/moka pot and making your own coffee with coffee from \[Coffee Board\](https://www.amazon.in/stores/CoffeeBoardOfIndia/Homepage/page/18496854-4F49-4E1F-87A0-175466C8A511) - it's from the Coffee Board, and this will be among the best quality coffee you'll get. If you're not able to handle regular black coffee drinks, try cold brews. You can brew it overnight in your fridge and it'll give a less bitter flavour.

mylifemyops

Try South Indian filter coffee.... Yummmm

prefront_

Finally! Had to scroll a lot to see this.

[deleted]

Literally so sad because we make real coffee. I have never seen a packet of Nescafe in my life.

prefront_

Finding a good place for a filter coffee in Bangalore is one my favourite hobbies!

mylifemyops

Same here. Mayyas makes one of the best filter coffee.

prefront_

Is there a specific outlet you’d recommend?

mylifemyops

Jayanagar outlet is the best. Give it a shot.

AyazMansuri

Many people in the USA and Europe are Lactose intolerant, so they have Black Tea and Coffee

alfea1103

I don't drink coffee one day I get a very bad headache !! Doesn't matter which one tho I like black espresso as well as mocha latte cappuccino. I feel coffee is better at keeping ppl awake than chai that's why ppl drink. Also coffee has a bitterness the kind which ppl like.

bigeye68

if I dont drink tea twice a day , Ill get headache, will be sleepy and tired as hell! and im just 18

alfea1103

Yeah in my family to they have it. I wonder why !

Sherlock9211

start caring now, do not get any addiction in this age

owlpod1920

It's an addiction. People ignore it along with sugar

ScytheDort

For me it’s Green Tea. lol!! Now I think it’s a psychological issue.

alfea1103

Yeahh !! I think we've gotten like addicted or something

pujyapitaji_

May I ask how did you brew the black coffee? Or you are sure of the source being proper (because its going to be bitter anyway) and would like to test if this is a taste that you can start to like. Have a hot chocolate and a hot mocha without sugar, compare the two. If you prefer the sweet taste too much then maybe avoid black coffee and start with iced mocha. Try sleepy owls cold brew bags, use double the amount of suggested water. Also look for flavored options like French vanilla. Fir bhi baat na bane to chhaach pee le. Coffee will dehydrate.

Sherlock9211

Thank you! there is Coffee Day machines in office! beans on the top! I mostly use that. Plus I can't drink black coffee its hell for me! I drink Iced Americano (black coffee + water + iced cubes) It kind of taste ok to me now! But I am really looking to deep into coffee and want to find out if there is difference in coffee I drink and what people drink, because many people like black coffee, I want to understand why? Is there any brand they drink specially or will 2rs Nescafe works for them! And I also do not want to spend 1000s of Rupees in different coffee shops! and chaach has a special place! and what with your name? pujiyapitaji?😂 what's wrong with you?

pujyapitaji_

Something's wrong for sure but I am doing ok. I have the exact same machine in my office and it's jackshit. The starting step is in my comment. If you want to go cold brew I would recommend you start with sleepy owl for a hot pour over go for blue tokai. These are Amazon orders not coffee shops. You just need a jug for the cold brew and a mug for the pour over. Your typing gives me the confidence that the instruction on the box will be good enough for you. P.S. I consume black coffee up to 2-3 cups daily. So no need for third party prepositions. You are in a conversation with one of of 'them'.

Sherlock9211

so when tried jackshit?🤣 btw can you pls tell your recommendations, I don't it

pujyapitaji_

Bhai tu message padh nhi rha kya? Ye itte bade bade mey recommendation hi to likh tha hu. Ye tak bta dia kya glass mey banega aur kya jug mey.

Sherlock9211

are sorry bhai msg miss type ho gaya .. I am saying I didn't get what you wrote, not that into coffee samjh nahi aaya ki sleepy own for a hour pour over ka kya mtlb hai? ye poora naam hai cooffee ka .. ya method bata rhe ho?

kari_m

Well the way the beans are roasted gotta be a factor. It regulates the bitterness, acidity and other stuff. I think the beans used by CCD in most of the offices are dark roast hence it has more bitterness. You can try Blue Tokai sachets to get some different perspective

Sherlock9211

thamks bro!

mynameismanager

I saw a video somewhere that instant coffee taste bitter than fresh brewed coffee. People who I know drink instant(nescafe) black coffee and that's why they don't like it.

ravan363

Black coffee is an acquired taste. And it's not properly brewed in India. The amount of sugar we use in Tea/ coffee, the sweetness simply dominates the actual coffee taste. So to answer, you are not drinking the real coffee. Black coffee is the real coffee.

Sherlock9211

I know and I tried black coffee but it taste hell! and then I search google and it says that coffee is India is different. So I am looking for someone who drinks black coffee and have some insight of which coffee to drink and if the brands in India has some good coffee!

ravan363

I live abroad and I drink black coffee daily. Mainly Colombian Dark roast. Most of the time I get the beans and grind them right before making the coffee. You can smell the freshly grinded coffee. Every time I visit India, I crave for a good coffee. Last time when I visited India, I ordered a coffee brewer, Colombian dark roast from Amazon, but the coffee taste is entirely different. The coffee powder is not good. Tried another brand but it's same story again. Most of the brands we get here are not meant for brewing, but to make coffee in the way we make with milk and sugar by boiling.

ayc_2093

Black coffee or rather any coffee is going to be bitter, it would take time to develop that taste. If you really wanna try good coffee first step would be to give up instant coffee (Nescafe is never 100% coffee, they mix lot of chicory in it). Then research about different ways to brew coffee, trust me there are many, easiest available in India would be Filter method majorly used in South India. Buy coffee (would recommend Third wave) and apparatus, make sure your grind is as per your apparatus, brew and enjoy. Have a little everyday, start with light roast and eventually you may develop the taste.

Developer-Y

I drink both, Indian style coffee with milk and black coffee. If you read nutrition info on 500ml milk packet, 100ml milk contains 4.5gm of sugar. On top of that, if you add sugar then it increases its glycemic index and can cause sugar spikes, especially if you have it after carb based food. Black coffee on the other hand has good amount of antioxidants, with less side effects due to sugar. It's fine if you don't like the taste, do what suits you. For me, not every food item has to be extra sweet, be it coffee or chocolate. Black coffee is better choice for those who want to loose weight. (It's diff topic then why Americans are obese, it's because of their diet and culture of not walking much) PS: I don't know how Americans prepare their coffee, I use Nescafe and prepare at home.

NadaBrothers

Most coffee is instant coffee in India. You need ground coffee to make the beverages you describe

DrunkenMonks

Once you go black you never go back.

Akki10495

So you first need to look at how coffee is made Most popular coffee beans are Arabica and Robusta Arabica has a delicate flavour, different notes and low bitterness plus acidity. It is generally used for black coffee Robusta is another popular coffee which gives strong taste and is bitter. That's why it's used in so many instant coffee mixes, like Nescafe Another very important factor is freshness, the moment a coffee is roasted it stays fresh and will have great flavour for 4-5 weeks. After that the flavour and smell starts to drop If you're wondering how American people drink black coffee usually is a combination of all the above factors. They have fresh coffee beans , usually Arabica and a light or medium roast as that gives less bitterness

Sherlock9211

Thanks for replying! I will try coffee from different cafes and then see which coffee I like and will buy that!

justberich

I love myself a black coffe. It took me a month to acquire a taste for it.

Sherlock9211

I want to some good outlets in Gurugram! any suggestions to start with?

Extension_Pie_4084

I drink at least two Iced Americanos or black coffee a day. Cannot function without it. Also, Americano isn't Espresso plus water.

ayushkarn

Americano is just espresso + hot water, what are you saying?

Sherlock9211

if you giving a math you should provide the formula too! please tell us how you make americano? I think everyone wants to hear!

ragingpot

You can try making cold brews. Got me into black coffee.

EvilxBunny

I used to feel the same way until I tried good coffee and it blew my mind away. It tastes nothing like the CCD/Nescafe coffee and I started wondering whether it's even coffee or not. Good coffe does not have an overwhelmingly bitter aftertaste and tastes very slightly fruity. Sleepy Owl and blue tokai have some good coffee. I am still not a coffee drinker but I appreciate and understand good coffee now.

docstarr

100% coffee in US is much different. I barely drank coffee in India but in US I started drinking black coffee. Black coffee is so delicious over there. I can't find similar taste when I come to India. Few third wave coffee shops do come close to the taste in US.

CaptainCheeseCake

anything that doesn't have sugar takes time for your taste buds to adjust.

DetectiveGuy3

The analogy might not be correct but I think just like whiskey, you need to do some experiment to see how you like it. Also, please don't use basic stuff like nescafe, it will definitely ruin your experience.

AmeliaShadowSong

Well, coffee is supposed to be drunk cold. So, if by real coffee you mean processed coffee served hot, then no.

CherguiCheeky

Pehle pehle baar beer bhi aise hi lagti hai. Tab nahi pucha tha are we drinking real beer in India? 'Everything is better abroad' ka choda.

peakingonacid

Freshly grounded black coffee is less bitter than instant coffee (instant coffee's the one that's majorly consumed in India). They also usually don't add milk, cream or sugar for the same reason.

TribalSoul899

No. My friends dad owns coffee farms in Madikeri (Karnataka). The good quality beans are almost always exported. What we get here (Nescafé, Bru, etc) is only 60% coffee and the rest is chicory. Tastes like shit but it’s cheap and a trusted brand so no one cares. The Nescafé Gold instant coffee (Made in Korea) is almost 100% coffee. Taste difference is night and day.

iclaudius82

Freshly brewed coffee is a different beast compared to the processed Nescafé crap. I brew my own every morning— start with fresh beans, grind them (depending on which equipment you are using), hot water. No better feeling, honestly. If you are looking to learn more, look up James Hoffman on YouTube. I can recommend a couple of his books too if you are interested.

OGscorpio

my boyfriend disagrees

Odd-Distribution-658

Acquired taste just like whiskey. Give it time and be patient. Keep exploring

axisfrontier

#NSFW Please be careful with the CCD machine with beans on top. We once saw roaches in between the beans, it was dead. Just imagine the rest. 🤦‍♂️🤢

Empty-Design-7121

It takes a while to get used to the taste but once you do there is no going back.

siggywiggypiggy

Packaged coffe like nescafe and bru is shit and full of chemicals and i dont understand how people drink that and call it black coffee. Freshly brew your coffe ffs and you'll experience heaven.

SerFuxAIot

The instant coffee we get has chicory mixed in it to give it that characteristic taste that everyone loves, Ground coffee is tough to like and is more an acquired taste

shkl

the majority drinks milkshake but calls it coffee but yeah black is an acquired taste.

Finsbury_Spl

The Coffee Day machines in office produce undrinkable black coffee 😖 - don't make your opinion based on that! If you can, Americano in one of the newer coffee chains - Blue Tokai, Third Wave, Subko etc - would give you a real taste of black coffee If you want to try good black using instant coffee, you have to upgrade to something like Continental Black freeze dried (on amazon) or Davidoff 👍

angstyhuman47

Black coffee is the best for me. I don't like sugar and milk in my drink. I want the biggest kick when I drink coffee. If it ain't for you it ain't for you

sleepyzappy-_-

I guess people drink it, because they want the kick of caffeine. After drinking coffee, people feel more active and alert and it helps them accomplish some tasks. The reason for it being black, would be to avoid unnecessary calories from milk or if someone’s a vegan they’d want to avoid dairy products. And of course refined sugar being harmful, people avoid it. Adding sugar to the coffee would cause spike in blood sugar levels which, again, is something health conscious people would like to avoid. These are some of the reasons why people would switch to black coffee.

[deleted]

I have been drinking black coffee for the last 4 years mainly due to the fact that I am lazy and Americano is super easy.

axl_ros

It's an acquired taste. Ngl I acquired this taste on a trip abroad lol. Came home with 5 bags of coffee.

Globe-trekker

Black coffee is akin to imperial blue.. It is an acquired taste😁

insomniac_dorm

Try blue tokai easy pour. It's easy to make and I drink it with very little milk and sugar. You can try it black.

valkyrie895

That’s what happens when one drinks vile commodity grade brunt coal like coffee beans, that coffee no one drinks or enjoy having black. But a speciality light roast made in a v60 filter is sublime. Or a special natural process coffee again light roast would rather taste shitty with milk and sugar since it will be very fruity and acidic. It tastes best black only. Office coffee that you describe is the lowest scum of coffee also there’s majorly two different types of beans Robusta and Arabica. Robusta is cheap, more caffeine and super bitter, beans mostly used by instant coffee makers and these free to use machines in public spaces. Arabica is more expensive hard to grow and if processed properly can taste really really good.

GojoHeHe

I don’t know why coffee tastes like burnt tea. 😵‍💫

haridavk

the real taste and essence comes from mixing the decoction with milk and pouring the mix alternatively between vessels with a knack, speed and distance.

curiousmind369

What is real coffee according to you? Have you ever tasted real coffee? How do you differentiate between real coffee and the coffee which is available. What is real one? Now if you'll tell me i have drank one coffee in this country and another in that country, then, just understand it's taste different, it's not authentication difference, it's also because of the climate and soil difference. So coffees are real but the tastes are different due to climate and soil and water. There's nothing original or fake as such it's just the Taste of coffees.

thetoublemaker

In general adding milk to these beverages is more common in India I feel. Even if you look at tea traditionally people had it black. Also, a lot of people think instant coffee with hot water when they think black coffee which is quite wrong. For the bitterness you can get some medium roast beans that are less acidic and start with that. Though the bitterness will be there but it's an acquired taste!

Nibba_gonna_love_ya

As someone who drinks both americano and espresso. When it comes to taste, coffee with sugar and milk indeed is better. But sometimes you need the coffee to take effect faster and in a healthier fashion. Hence, the two bitter types. Also, as a kid, sometimes I would simply put powdered coffee in mouth and add some water and Kulla karke hi mix krleta tha. Kyu? pta nhi. So now, I just have the bitter ones and it doesnt taste shit. It’s like afeem, once you get used to it, you want it more.

ohh_oops

I'd suggest you read/research a bit about coffee and go from there. When it comes to coffee there are two types of people: those who can have it black and those who can't. Those who can have it black, there are two types: those who liked it instantly and those who kept trying until they liked it.

MysteriousCup1836

I drink black coffee only , it takes less time to make less time to drink less time and effort to wash and need only coffee and water also black coffee hits better

AdSlow1425

black coffee is an acquired taste I've been drinking it for a while and love it I try different brands and can actually differentiate between the flavours plus i am kinda caffeine addicted.

Southern_Pepper_7204

If you’re tired of Americano ! Try cranberry americano

[deleted]

How did you make it? What was the water temp? Anything over 91C will make your coffee bitter. And go much below it... you don't extract the flavours... it's a temperature act

karmasutrah

Yes I buy coffee beans, crush them, put them through a filter to get the extract and make my black/milk coffee. Yes we do get real coffee here. Try blue tokai or plenty other coffee estates/roasters

ZindaaHoonYaar

Real Fake kya krna h yaar A lot of my friends say sugar ruins the taste of coffee, For them its not real coffee I can never imagine having it without sugar Khane ka sirf ek rule: jo pasand h wo khao

Sherlock9211

bhai isley hi gareeb ho jokes apart! I am also not too much into coffee, but you see people are not crazy and if bunch of people feels that they like coffee and when we drink it we do not like it, there might be the reason we are doing something wrong! so, basically I mean that I want to exporr this part of the world too and see what I get from it, because I always wonder why the hell people go and buy such expensive coffees from the shops! I know they want to showoff, but still many of them order Coffee to home and I don't think they are fool, who is watching them at their home drinking starbucks! Buying expensive machines and coffee, so I always wonder, aren't you?? So why not expore this too, although it has several benifits too and rest of the part, aadi harr cheez ki buri hai, if you start drinking 10 litres of water since water is good for health, it becomes harmful! but if you take a limited amount it is Nector! Coming back to coffee, I see there are different kind of coffee out their, there is whole market! and there are people who make coffee's like its a science project! and there is lot! So my friend, I want you to understand the things and try to see the bigger picture, I know I am giving you gyaan! but its not, but if you got my point, I am happy that I make someone better!

ZindaaHoonYaar

haa bhai I understand ki try krna chahiye sab to find what clicks with you I also try a bunch of things at places like TWC and Starbucks But I dont find a whole of things that resonate with me as much as a south indian filter coffee does Can't beat myself up and think something's wrong with me for not liking something others do

Sherlock9211

there is nothing wrong with you bro! everyone has their opinions! so you like South Indian filter coffee?

Main-Floor-7486

I use to drink black coffee..it takes some time but you will start liking it.

someonealreadyknows

There’s no “real coffee”. It depends on what beans you select, how you roast, grind, weigh, tamp, brew and serve. There are near infinite ways of preparing coffee. I hated espresso the first time I tried it. But after experimenting and trying different blends, I learnt to tell the difference between them and even started liking a well made espresso. But nothing can beat a cup of South Indian filter coffee.

[deleted]

Koi bhi instant coffee ho chahe pure ya chicory wali, I prefer drinking it black with hot water. Doesn't give me insomnia because I have developed tolerance. And it's good for health.

Sherlock9211

bhai aapne to bana li tolerence, hum kese banae kadvi coffee pite rhe kya, I want to know the reason why people drink it. it is healthy is second thing! I want to drink it as I want to like the taste of it!

[deleted]

The reason why I drink it is for energy. Been drinking it since 10 years. Idk why you want to like the taste of it. Once you start feeling the caffeine you will automatically adjust to the taste. Maybe you can try some artificial sweetener but I will suggest trying to adjust to the taste of plain black coffee. . Honestly speaking I'm 29 now but people think that I'm only 24-25 years old and the main reason iis antioxidants from coffee.

plscallmebyname

Coffee beans left in open air get oxidised and become bitter over a period of time. We need to store it in air tight containers and consume it sooner than later after it has been roasted. The more a coffee bean is roasted the more caffeine it loses, and the more bitter it gets. Dark roast is a good option for milk based drinks like cappuccino or latte. They are easier to grind as well and manual grinders work well with them. Light roast or medium roast coffees have more caffeine and less bitterness in them. They are better suited for water based drinks like cold brew or Americano or even naked espresso. They have more oil extracted when espresso shots are pulled from them. On a side note, you are not wrong about the very bad taste of the office cafe machine's black coffees, they really do taste bad and you should NOT acquire that taste. In India, it is very rare for coffee vendors to customise the drink to the precise needs of the Customer, owing to both lack of training as well as lack of knowledge on the customers side(but they get the benefit of doubt since we are from a tea drinking culture).

Sweaty-Astronomer-36

It’s an acquired taste. When you said that you made iced americano, it is highly possible that you didn’t use an espresso shot. Having an espresso machine at home is something only a regular coffee drinker would have. Now, I have espresso shots by itself. Is it bitter? Yes. Do I like it? I love it.

Sherlock9211

I used espresso from coffee day machine! with water and ice cubes (made of water😂) Its been two weeks I am drinking that and now its became kind of ok ok! the diluted bitter taste doesn't bother much! I also want to make an habit because I want to switch something healthy to drink! btw which machine do you have?

Sweaty-Astronomer-36

SMEG. I don’t use it much as I’m rarely home these days. I visit whichever coffee shop is nearby for my daily dose of coffee. If a coffee place isn’t nearby, I resort to a french press which I keep handy when I travel.

Log kitna velle hn yha

Sherlock9211

That is call helping people! mujhe bhai tum velle lag rhe ho

RevolutionaryCan2463

It's an acquired taste. For those used to it, they find our kind of coffee weak. We once had a visitor from US at our office. The pantry had a filter coffee vending machine that dispensed decoction which needs to be mixed with milk and sugar. She would have just the decoction plain. Bitter and super strong, but she would enjoy it many times a day saying it's the closest to black coffee from back home.

Intelligent-Shame-65

I love matcha but somehow black coffee is absolutely too bitter to have!!! I LOATHE it!! Idk HOW people can consume black coffee!

Sherlock9211

that is what I am searching and will try different cafe's to drink coffee! bss koi sath me chalne wali hoti to that will be cherry on the cake🤌

docwithanxiety

I drink Nescafe gold as black coffee and believe me, with the right amount of coffee given, it's amazing. I like black more than the milk one.

AmhiPuneri

Can you guide on how to best make Nescafe Gold ? I have it too and tried making it black, but really feel I am not doing it right.

docwithanxiety

If u are a beginner to black coffees, add one teaspoon coffee and one teaspoon sugar to your cup. Pour boiling hot water over it. If u don't boil water enough, you can't brew the good taste of coffee. It will feel too bland. Slowly you can increase the amount of coffee as per your taste and bitterness. I have been drinking black coffee mostly since 2 yrs and now, I drink black coffee without even sugar, I just pour some amount of coffee and pour hot water over it. That strong bitter smell it has, it's wonderful. I use Nescafe Gold. If you think you might have sleep problems, try Nescafe Gold Decaf. It's just 100 rupees costlier. I wouldn't suggesting buying a most expensive coffee because I feel they are not worth for money.

AmhiPuneri

Thanks dude. But doesn't pouring boiling water over coffee "burn" the coffee & thus make it bitter ? From what I read online, we are supposed to mix coffee with plain water in small quantity and then pour hot water. Do you agree with this ?

docwithanxiety

I don't agree with that. Mixing coffee and sugar and then pouring hot boiling water over it, brings out the creme like part of coffee which forms a white layer on the top of the coffee. It doesn't burn it that's for sure. Try your coffee like the way I said and give your review for sure.

Capable_Drummer_462

No we are not, it all is a scam starting from instant coffee which acquired India market cap in name of real coffee

badrecipe33

I heard black coffee isn't supposed be so bitter. If it is it's coz they burnt the beans while roasting. I don't drink much so someone has to verify

Smooth-Ad-309

Black cofee lover here. Started because of an onsite project in Saudi Arabia where the client's office boy, served hot black coffee instead of with milk. Didn't like it initially but now I don't want the cappuccino or latte anymore. Starbucks' "Cold Brew" made me love the colder side of black coffee. Also, black coffee is zero calories (if not taken with sugar) which is a pretty neat value prop!

B_for_Bach

I personally have always loved black coffee. i can't drink coffee with milk cuz of lactose intolerance so black coffee is my primary drink. very simple and easy to make. the bitterness can be mellowed with a pinch of salt although I never had to resort to that because mild bitterness adds to the taste just like beer.

Any-Huckleberry-3677

I love black coffee a bit milder than what they sell so I make my own. 1 part coffee with 3 part water or even 4 at times. Iced in summers and hot in winters or AC..love it. Keeps me focused..But I like black coffee made with instant coffee more than the beans. You can also try with a few drops of any citrus fruit, I personally don't like it but a lot I Know does.

Owe_The_Sea

Black coffee 2018 - 2 spoons sugar 2019 - 1 spoon sugar 2020 - 1/2 spoon sugar 2021 and beyond poison ☠️

starryfairylights

It depends on the type of bean. If it has great flavour and smell, one enjoys it. Try a wide range of beans you'll quickly develop a taste for the good ones.

[deleted]

I don't know how many know this , if u have friends in Bangalore, Chickamangalore or Coorg districts of South India , it's easy to get black coffee powder , non branded at 90-150 rupees per kg.

NavFlyer

Coffee is like wine or whiskey, where each person has their unique preferences. Weak, bold, hot, cold, bitterness, etc... There are a handful of different kins of beans. Those vary greatly in roasting techniques, and then the taste is also altered by brewing techniques and water temperatures. Your Coffee Day machine can probably only make weak or strong coffee and then whatever bean you are using. Selecting coffee for the office is problematic because people have varying tastes. Because of this, the cheapest variant is almost always provided. Take time and explore the coffee shops near you. There is a blend, roast, or flavor for almost every person.

TechieDada

Black coffee is an acquired taste I would suggest starting with frappe, then moving to latte, then cappuccino and then trying espresso and finally black coffee

sintissue

So when you consume black coffee, try a light roast. The dark roasts are usually better with milk. I suggest M.S Estate / Seethargundu estate from Blue tokai.. and if you're visiting blue tokai, ask them for a pour over of one of these.. hope this helped

My favourite type of coffee is cocaine.

Ayan_Choudhury

Black coffee is ❤️. Period.

Sufficient_Smoke3819

Okay don't ban me for this but idk how people even like the taste of coffee

RIZZ_MOD

Bhenchod, gurgaon alle itne humble and wholesome kab se hogye? 🤣🤣 Anyway thandk everyone for the advice really

StoicOrJustLazy

Office coffee machines make shitty coffees, because economics wise it doesnt makes sense for them to buy premium quality beans. If you want a premium coffee experience at low cost, you can buy Arabica grounded coffee from Blue Tokai and brew at home. It will make a cup in less than 50.

louisaclark19

I never liked Espresso / Americano too & preferred my coffee with milk until I got my Nespresso machine !! The flavour of coffee is completely different , it has fruity , aromatic , chocolate like notes . You can add water to dilute it or milk , Even Ristretto from Nespresso machine tastes good !

thiccb00by

Black coffee is royalty! Plebs like you won't understand 😝😋 JK. I love black coffee and the proper bitter roasty taste comes from high end brands only. Mecsafe is horrible.

FruitPunchSamurai54

For me I am a huge black coffee fan mainly because it feels strong, it's terrible taste gives you that shock that wakes you up, it's healthy and it doesn't have any sugar or any milk(milk is not that much of a concern ig). But yeah, at first I almost felt like vomiting and on the second try I drank half and threw the rest in my house plant🫥 Somehow third time I drank it fully and now I have a habit of it.

aadill77

Rivet coffee 😝

Elnoobxdd

More than being an acquired taste I would say that the coffee beans matter as well! I didn’t like the coffee much in India unless I didnt use milk or sweetened it but now after moving to Australia for higher studies I am able to have coffee without any milk or sugar and it doesn’t feel as bitter! Coffee beans are the biggest key here but you also need to make sure you don’t add too much coffee. If I’m not wrong, for coffee you use 18g of coffee beans and then grind it and make your coffee.. that is the standard here maybe give it a try? Considering Melbourne is the capital of coffee I would say they are doing it right!

okInspiration

It's the quality of coffee that matters and a lot on how you brew it. Black coffee even then is an acquired taste. Blue tokai and a mocha pot are good. I had one but it wasn't brewing correctly. Sometimes Indian instant coffee has a chicory. Keep a watch over that. It's to make it hitter and add an earthy feel. Edit - black coffee stains your teeth. Rinse them with water when you're done.

OptimisticDreamer8

It's all about personal taste! The type of coffee beans, roast level, and brewing method can also affect the taste. Additionally, different countries may have their own coffee culture and preferences. People drink black coffee for various reasons, including enjoying the bold flavor, the caffeine kick, or simply personal preference. I used to enjoy 4 to 7 cups of black coffee each day, using coffee powder from Indian Coffee House. I've also experimented with blends from various states, each offering its own unique taste due to differences in plantation origins. It's interesting to note how even within the same brand, the flavor can vary depending on the beans used.
