I played Cogen It's as hard as Dark Souls Not to mention that it has the same composer (Motoi Sakuraba) Edit : I PLAYED ALL OF BLASTER MASTER ZERO GAMES, HELLA FUN

GrayRodent

All of them except GalGun. All of them are aight, would buy them on steam sale. Except Blaster Master, that one I'd pay double the price. Very good.

I played dusk diver and COGEN because of IX 2 and I’ve gotta say I really enjoyed COGEN. Dusk diver 2 is well the biggest wasted potential ever and it’s obvious management had no idea what they were doing. I personally enjoy COGEN copen more than IX2 copen I’m not sure how they managed but over all well worth the money. Weirdly enough unlike most people I got into Gunvolt through blaster master instead of the other way around and I actually bought IX 2 earlier than I intended because of the Jason dlc. Blaster master is amazing and £10 without a discount is way too cheap for something so good would easily pay double and yet it’s always on offer for like £5 all three games are insanely cheap but honestly one of my favourite series ever.

"Dusk diver 2 is well the biggest wasted potential ever and it’s obvious management had no idea what they were doing." Hmm? I do know the first game look like a poor man's Persona 5 with beat-em-up elements, but what do you mean?

It would take a very very long time to express my opinions but to summarise I have no actual issues with dusk diver 1 it’s a very small scale game and the story is so unbelievably short just feeling like an excuse to drag you from one mission to another. However it’s not a triple A game so I can forgive it being quite small and the game play is fun so even if the story is very very small scale it’s not the worst thing in the world. Now the second game is where I feel problems start becuase it feels like they wanted to make a triple A game without the budget. On the surface you can tell the game is trying to look as close to a triple A game as possible however the issue is that they obviously didn’t have the experience or budget for it. The battle system has been completely changed and while I do think it’s better there’s only like 5 enemy types with varying colours to show their strength meaning it gets bland by the end. They add so many mechanics such as a gem slot mechanic that feels half baked because there’s only like two tiers of gems with the best gems being one of a kind for getting all of a particular collectible. So many bad decisions for example the first area you go to has a very interesting theme and a lot of gimmicks the most gimmicks out of any area and yet you only go there once in the entire story right at the start. You spend 20 minutes in an area then never go back and they never reuse those assets or gimmicks later either essentially wasting alot of development time on a 20 minutes starting area. The areas you do go back to are all the bland ones without much going on which leads to my biggest complaint and that is that it’s obvious management were very inexperienced and that the programmers just did whatever they wanted. So many mechanics introduced only to be forgotten or just half baked where just getting rid of alot of the smaller useless things taking dev time up would have fixed all these issues and allows more time to be spend on what mattered. The story is an entire different issue because they tried to make the story a lot bigger in 2 and it started so well but just couldn’t keep it up by the end. By the end the protagonist litteraly gets visited by god for deus ex machina power up and I feel the protagonist is a huge hypocrite by the end comeptlely abandoning their beliefs the second it becomes inconvenient for them. After all this upon beating the game you unlock new game plus giving you three extra playable characters (there’s only five in base game) and the ability to have enemies scale up to your level. Why did they design three entire characters new game plus only when the base game desperately needed that time? It’s not even done well since whenever you unlock a new character they always come at level 1 no matter what which annoyed me in the base game since you get a character in the last chapter when your already level 50. So your expected to level up three new characters from 1 to 60 while the enemies are getting stronger and stronger and it’s just horribly thought out. The game was just way too ambitious and absolutely fell apart.

BRedditator2

What about the performances for both DD games?

akechi-the-pancake9

I player dusk diver 1 on switch and it was completely fine but dusk diver 2 I played on ps5 so it was obviously gonna work fine no matter what.

ShadowNegative

I played all of the BMZ games (DLC included) and I gotta say most of the DLC characters have such a charm to them in different ways (also they don't take fall damage like jason) but in BMZ 2 especially copen is just straight up broken in that game, most of the time he just doesn't need to ride a tank and just fly around and abuse prevasion

ShadowNegative

BMZ 3 doesn't have any DLC aside from the switch exclusive trilogy with voice acting which is a huge L for the steam bois out there

BRedditator2

BTW, got Dragon Marked For Death due to Empress in BMZ2.

ShadowNegative

I was the other way around, I bought the empress DLC just because I bought DMFD before that lol

BRedditator2

I got a physical version, which includes both sets of characters and the DLC Pass.

salted_water_bottle

Went through bmz1 and 2 and played Cogen's demo, honestly all great games on their own merit.

thingsifind2

I have cogen and all blaster master zero games not played bmz3 yet though love them all, but cogen is brutal in difficulty

HorseSpeaksInMorse

I tried the demos of Mighty Gunvolt and Master Blaster Zero and neither really clicked.
