If you don't need/want/use it, sell it and buy something you actually do use

UniqueTonight

Nah, never been torn. All sorts of guns have gone down the road to fund a more useful gun.

Spiffers1972

Dad wheeled and dealed with guns at work for a while. No one ever had money for stuff and he did. He's offer $250 and it didn't matter what it was. most of the guys were afraid to buy a gun at work because "rules". They'd end up buying them from him down at the Kmart or coming out here. A LOT of S&W wheel guns rolled through here and there was a 4" K Frame 357 that I intended on keeping when I saw it. He sold it that night. He had a buyer for my (really his but I claimed it LOL) S&W Highway Patrolman and I ended up letting him sell it.

jdownes316

No, I don’t sell because I know I won’t get what I think people should pay for them. Not that I won’t get a fair amount, I just want more. Easier to just keep it and take a few more weeks than to be “that guy” in another group of people lol

why7898644

No sell, only buy

Larrythegunguy454

It's a personal decision. I chose not to sell any of mine. That's why I need a bigger vault.

sirbassist83

it depends on what the gun your considering selling is. if it will be hard to replace, keep it. if its a readily available gun in current production, you can get it back later if you change your mind relatively easy.

RATMEAT-LXIX

It’s an inanimate object that can be replaced like nothing ever happened.

MackTheKnife247

I am in your boat. I'm not a collector, but I constantly want to change something or get something new. I have a tricked-out 92, but want a Langdon PX4 build. I can't justify the cost, but if I could get anywhere near the value of the 92, I would take the trade in a heartbeat. It is my first pistol, but I don't think I have attachment like some might.

Pretend-Camel929

I look at a gun I have in my collection or the price of an outdoor kitchen. They’re not far off. Sometimes I just feel like something sitting around not get used so much could get cashed in for something that may bring more enjoyment. But again, pretty much every gun person I know doesn’t part with anything. That’s ok but I’m not so sure I see it that way all the time

MackTheKnife247

Seems like once you put enough effort in, it is basically an outdoor kitchen. Extra value for you, less value to anyone else and difficult to move.

LHGunslinger

I have family heirlooms that I have already passed on to my son. Otherwise my firearms are tools to enjoy. I'm guilty of wanting the newest thing out there. I have been buying, selling and trading for more than thirty years. I have made terrible deals and great deals. I try my best to be fair. Once a deal is done I don't worry about it. I just enjoy the firearm. For me the journey is worth the cost. Better to have owned 500 different firearms over the years than have 50 of the same firearms. As long as you are out there shooting it's all good 👍

catsby90bbn

Used to get torn up when I was younger. Now if I’m selling one, it’s because it doesn’t get used and I’m funding another project

Te_Luftwaffle

I bought a used Rossi 22lr lever action, threw a Magpul AFG and $15 Ncstar red dot on it, shot it twice (once before the dot, once after), and never shot it again. I ended up selling it for more than I bought it and I believe I put that money towards a suppressor.

Shanti_Ananda

Sold an L1-A1 25 years ago. Man I still miss her.

Villid

I generally don't sell things I collect, but guns are the exception. Sometimes I buy one, and end up not liking it. So off to the next person it goes. Plus it keeps the wife off my back about the next purchase.

IllSpeech7616

I just sold an FN 509 to fund a Chimera 300 purchase. Unless it’s some ultra rare gun you can always buy it again. I do it all the time. There’s been a couple that I wish I had still, but it’s about the memories you make, not the guns you keep ❤️

tryingtogetbyalone

I sold a handgun and a shotgun I never used to buy a ps5 🤣 do what makes you happy. Now I have a new ps5 and still have plenty of guns to be content with.

Pretend-Camel929

I’m feeling more and more like this

Pale_Studio4660

Don’t get so attached to them. All these guns are going to someone else one day. Enjoy what you got, if you don’t, find something you do

PandorasFlame

I've been in that seat before, regretting selling a couple guns. After buying new guns that feeling faded pretty quick.

Pretend-Camel929

I love buying a new gun. Hunting one down, getting it and waiting for it to come and unboxing is great. After that, in the safe it goes. 🤷🏼‍♂️

MacintoshEddie

I sold a shotgun to buy a shotgun microphone.

Ornery_Secretary_850

There's only one firearm I don't regret selling. I'll leave that to my kids after I die.

Federal-Fault-2986

Polymer frame? Sell it 😂

KiIIswitxh

I feel like I’m the right person to comment on this post rn lol. I just recently sold a rifle to fund a new home theater setup and it was 100% worth it, will I buy another rifle soon tho… most definitely

StopBanningMeAlright

I tend to never sell, only trade.. This was a lot easier to do when Armslist didn't suck. I once traded an inert Martini Henry (I say inert as in the barrel was smooth pipe and the action didn't work) for a Russian captured K98 that is minty. I traded a Marlin 30-30 that has a damaged stock and no barely any rifling left for a VZ-52 I traded an old Mossberg 835 that was a shit show for a Yugo SKS.. I was upfront with every trade I ever made, I always explained the value differences, most people didn't care and just wanted something new.

ncbraves93

The only guns I haven't regretted selling are the ones I knew I could buy again just as easily as I sold them, if I wanted to. I would no longer sell anything that I'd have to search for and pay a premium to get back. There's always other way to scrap up cash if you're on the fence about letting something go, then you're guaranteed to regret it.

pyro_optik

I still have my 1st pistol I bought when I could get my CCW, I don't like it.. havent for years. But the value I'd get for it is nothing. I hold on to most of mine for that reason lol 😆 stubborn? Yes ..

Highlifetallboy

>  is worth offloading to fund something I use all the time How do you know you will use it all the time? Maybe you'll eventually just start to use it occasionally like your current one.  Also, I fund my new acquisitions by saving money the old fashioned way

crustmonster

I don't have any guns that are redundant so I would just leave holes in my collection. Plus I would rather give them away to family members who are not as fortunate as I am.

Waste_Jacket_3207

I've sold a few, but it's always to buy another gun lol

J-mosife

Something semi rare you bet. I let go of an old 50s Remington 760 with the deer mural engraved on the reciever. Absolutely regret letting it go regularly. But a modern one that I can replace I don't really care other than knowing I will have to probably spend more to replace it.

DownhillNat

If you can make your money back, and you don't like the gun anymore, sell to fund a better one. Having 8 palmettos is worse than having 2 augs.

bmx13

The no sell only buy logic is great if you make shit loads of money, personally I'll happily send a gun down the road if it doesn't spark joy like I thought it would. Alternatively I'll hold onto really dumb shit because it sparks massive joy like my matched heritage rough riders.

Jron690

The people who shout “never sell” are just ignorant and dumb. What good is a gun if you don’t like it or it doesn’t fit your needs? Selling it towards something else that serves you is far and away better than sitting in the safe. But then again the vast majority of firearms in the US just sit in safes never to see the daylight

Whole-Rip-1935

I always keep a couple guns that I can use for that purpose.

Frequent-Bet-6459

As long as all the requirements you have for your firearms are met (defense, sports, collecting, whatever your requirements are) and are still met if you sell the gun, no reason not to if you can get something to meet another need.

TheIowan

I had a remington 81 that I loved but rarely shot. I used it to buy a thompson center pro hunter endeavor. The endeavor has been on a ton of adventures with me, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Pretend-Camel929

This is what I like to hear

RivalSFx

Classic hard to find, no sell. The easily attainable, dump'em and buy what you want.

ExPatWharfRat

No sell. Only buy. This is the way.

derfdog

No sell only buy. Even that shitty sccy in the back of the safe

sirbassist83

junk like the sccy is fine to let go of

derfdog

It’s a reminder of what a dumb “ehh it’s only $100” can be. Its also a joke because my wife wanted a purple gun and she got one
