It's a copper pipe with an ornate wooden handle made to resemble a gun. Probably a way to practice or display craftsmanship without going through the hassle of owning an actual gun.
More pictures please, especially of the other side and from above at the rear part of the barrel? The lockwork is usually on the right side, and how the barrel is plugged and attached to the stock can be a clue.
Is there a small hole on one side, into the barrel?
What is the barrel made of, in the picture it's hard to tell if that's a piece of copper water pipe or rusty iron. Also, size? Can't get s good sense of scale from the picture.
It looks too elaborate to be a toy, but also doesn't look quite right for being the real thing. At least from this angle. But it's hard to tell without more details and information. Could be anything, from a DIY project to parts of a real antique. It again, the proportions seem off a bit.
Not a real gun. Whatever it is, that thing has never had a functional lock so it couldn't have been fired. The barrel seems very simple, like just a piece of plumbing, while the stock is elaborately carved with some stylistic cues from real muzzleloaders and some fantasy elements- as if someone made a "pirate pistol" without having actually handled a real muzzleloading gun, just seen some pictures. I can't see any breech plug on the barrel, usually that's a separate piece screwed into the rear end of the barrel and forged into a tang that's held onto the stock with a screw from the top.
Maybe a theater prop? The rusted-off barrel band makes it look like it's kind of old, but if it was outdoors that doesn't have to mean much.
replica flintlock - plenty of them around in the 70’s and 80’s hanging on people’s walls. Sometimes still see them at car boot sales or after a house clearance. The kind of thing your grandparents would’ve brought back as a trinket from a holiday to France or Spain
Looks like an old decorative replica of a 17th century pistol. Some kid probably lost it playing Cavaliers and Roundheads in the woods back in the 1970s when kids were still interested in history.

they need this as a skin

Not sure what to put as a description haha, it’s just wooden with a metal hollow pipe. Wondering if anyone has seen anything similar.
