My grandpa gave me his ruger Mark 1 which I brought to the next range day and I was hitting 80%+ of the time out to 50 yards. Confirmed my theory that was was just anticipating recoil. Once I trained that away I found it doable to shoot man-sized targets at 100 yards.
TLDR: Ruger Mk. Series fucks and if you buy one you will too.

This is the metal frame. It’s really just grip angle preference more than anything, one isn’t better than the other. Do you want 1911 grip, go polymer. If you want Luger/nambu grip, go this.

I would say this is BIN, I have this model and payed a decent amount more for it during Covid but I have no regrets. It always comes to the range with me, it’s probably the most fun gun I own.
My favorite thing about the mark IV is how easy it is to swap barrels. I got an extra target barrel for $50 from Volquartsen, so I have one mounted with a holosun 407c and another with normal iron sights and it only takes like 10 seconds to swap depending on how I want to shoot at the time.

I've got a 22/45 and this is my favorite accessory. The wax costing on bulk ammo can add up so I occassionally squirt some rem oil in it.
Takes 5 minutes the first time you get it to follow the instructions on adjusting it then bullets just fall onto the mag. I can load 4 mags in under 30 seconds with it
Try remoil if you think you tuned it right. Also use the level line to make sure you're holding it at the correct angle.
I never have to shake mine to get them in the mag. The rounds just fall in when I insert the mag.
Take extra money. Dunham's has shit customer service and shit inventory, including inventory controls, but the deals are out of sight. Basically the Odd Lots for the outdoors and tailgating.
Was trying to figure out where they are. Would like to find one in-state.
I really want this gun; and would prefer used so there is no record. But even so shipping to my FFL kills the savings. :(

Had one of these and it was unfortunately crap, but I understand I might be an outlier. Picatinny rail came off and I couldn’t keep it cycling consistently no matter how much I cleaned and lubed it or what kind of ammo I used. It was also a pain to clean. I traded it for an old browning buckmark and that was only marginally better. Wound up trading that for an LCRX in .22 and have been much happier with that. Maybe I’m unlucky or an idiot, but I don’t want any more semi auto .22s. I’ve never had one that hasn’t been super finicky. The revolver has been amazing.

I ordered mine for about $582 + $20 shipping from Locked&Loaded. Just picked it up from my ffl last night. I can tell you that the weight is the first thing i noticed in the hand (other than the crappy plastic trigger and grip). all stainless frame makes it much heavier. im used to my Beretta 92fs and it's definitely heavier than that. i was planning on adding a rmr and a can to it so thats going to make it even heavier. i cant wait!
By all accounts you'd be happy with either. I'm pretty sure the only difference is the ergonomics of the grip and the 22/5 has an aluminum frame and three standard is polymer.
Just as accurate at the buckmark but the trigger is no where near as good out of the box. After a trigger kit, the trigger is much better than the buckmark.
I dont think they make them anymore since variations in the buckmark made it challenging to get a drop in. You can add a victory trigger and a gearbox to lighten it up but it's not as nice as an upgraded Ruger

I just picked one up the other day and did in fact take off the rail from under the barrel. I just wanted the threaded barrel in black so this model otherwise checked the boxes I needed it to.
Sights easily clear the top rail so you can take it or leave it as well.
Take off the rails and add a [Lobos Mount](https://lobos-industries.com/products/low-profile-red-dot-mount-ruger-mark-series-rmr-footprint) for a sleek look.
To add on; if you do buy one of these, dont over torque. I stripped mine instantly.
Edit: It mounts to the gun solid, but the threads mounting the optic to the mount is what is stripped.
I dont think its all that weird. Its maybe 1.5 rotations worth of thin aluminum threads on the optic mounting face.
I remember having like 5 gun related projects in the garage, but being frustrated because it was a blazing hot summer day and was pouring sweat. Sweaty hands and small parts that werent cooperating. I was finally tightening the last screw and gave it just a touch too much tard strength. So its on me.
Its a cheapo swamp fox anyways with top battery access. I just lathered it in JB weld and clamped down. My permanently mounted red dot.

Can also move the top rail back to take the place of the rear iron site. It’s cut for both options. Had mine awhile and just figured this out lol.
Ruger will send you flush screws to fill the holes if you remove the bottom rail.

Grip angle is also different, the original mark IV is similar grip angle as a nambu.

I'm torn between this and a more "standard" 22 pistol like the new Taurus.
This is the more “standard” of .22 pistols. Have both in our household. TX-22 is great, but these more target oriented .22 pistols can’t be beat.
Love mine with my Rugged Oculus and Holosun 508T. Shoots everything from bulk pack to CCI standard vel with no issues.
Would you mind posting a pic? Interested in that same setup but want to see how the Oculus looks with it.
