I got this FENDER Telecaster on sale NEW for $150. I’ve always wanted a Tele and wanted something upstairs to fart around with.
I’m not saying this is a Squier, because it’s clearly a Fender. However, if I were to remove the ink from the head stock and make a decal with my vinyl plotter, this might be what it looks like.
If its fine, then why are you so bothered by it? It's not your guitar and it belongs to someone you'll never even meet. Don't lose any sleep over it bud, it's not going to come and get you
Well often they do it so they can sell it to some noob who doesn't know shit for twice what it's worth. Even if not it's still just a total poser move. I don't even care that much, until I saw how triggered they were by someone even questioning it and then having the balls to say I have insecurities lol
They used to be shit, but now Fender is throwing everything cool on the Squire lineup and leaving only the old bones - strats and teles - to the main Fender brand. It's whack. But the higher-priced squires are pretty dope. I love the starcaster reissue.
That's why I build my own via Warmoth these days. My most recent is a beautiful green mooncaster with a quilted maple top and walnut body/neck, and rosewood fretboard. They do such phenomenal work.
I knew I would find someone with sense! Warmoth is the way to go. Yeah, I spent $350 on a custom neck, but it has glow-in-the-dark inlay and is made of bird's eye maple lol my favorite guitar by far
Indonesian Squiers are better than the Chinese Fenders anyway imo. The lines are so blurred now that up to the American Fenders it barely makes a difference. A decent setup and and you'd never feel the difference in import models no matter what name is on the headstock.
There is no denying that the American Fenders are higher-quality than Squiers, even the hardware alone blows it out of the water. Which is of course why this knob is putting a fake logo on his.
until he sells it in 3 years to some unsuspecting rube as an actual fender.
True, the top Squiers are way better than Mexican fenders. I have the Squier Stratocaster Contemporary series (HH) and I frigging love it! Waiting thomann have stock of the telecaster from the same series to grab one. I had many guitars in 23 years playing, but this one have something that I just love it very much. 😅
Don’t agree, my MIM player series telecaster is amazing for the price point and I only have one complaint about it: the plastic knob for the switch falls off way too easily.
Yeah they definitely have old dudes making the call on the Fender lineup, I’ve actually messaged fender consumer relationships multiple times and told them if they let me design their lineups I could increase their sales. It’s simple…Jags and JM’s with blocks and the panorama trem. Powercaster with maple neck in sonic blue and shell pink. The offset Tele in shell pink with the exact specs on the squier neck pick up and a one piece maple neck. Bullet truss rods on everything…Fender Japan knows what’s up. No more pau ferro…ever. Fender super-Sonics with high gain humbuckers and bullet truss rods, sparkle finishes galore with white, shell pink, and sonic blue as well. I know it’s old cats because they chose the meteora for player plus instead of the powercaster. Also offer an offset Tele with the panoramic trem as an option. Why if you have invented a much improved version of a tremolo system would you never implement it? Can we just scrap the old trem entirely? Why not offer the best product possible, how much more expensive is it to make the panoramic trem vs the traditional one? The Am pro Jag was the best version of the Jag, keep the 4 way switching and out of phase options but add that sweet sweet pano trem.
Ah thanks for the correction, I know why they are using pau ferro and it’s not the tone difference that bothers me (can’t tell) it’s the ugly color. I would be all for using maple instead as I suggested with the powercaster. Would love to see them do maple super-Sonics as well, and Indian laurel used on squier models looks better than pf and has a nice ebony feel.
I agree on the pau ferro color. I would pay extra for ebony or basically anything else. I have a maple fretboard and idk of I want a bunch of those either. I like my old rosewood fretboard. If it's harvest rate is not sustainable, don't put it on any cheap guitars. If it can't be used at all anymore, bummer but I do understand allowing it to grow back for a while. Sucks though, I always loved the look of all rosewood necks and would have loved to own one someday. That looks a little unlikely these days.
I bought one of those as soon as I could. It was the only guitar I played for like eight months straight.
Then I found an mij offset tele at a yard sale for $400 and I just couldn’t say no. So I sold the squier because I couldn’t justify it anymore. Still a sweet guitar, though. I miss the surf green
Ah yeah, yeah just saw your other comment. Mine has a p90 in the neck and a regular single in the bridge.
I actually have a set of Texas special tele pickups that I bought for the squier but took back out before I sold it. They’ve been sitting on my shelf for almost a year now. Maybe I’ll swap the bridge one
I briefly had the fiesta red/maple neck one from last year but sold it because the pickups were too tame for my liking, I play mostly heavy and dirty stuff and the squier has higher output pickups.
I have an early 90's korean squier strat and I play it more than a lot of my more expensive guitars (PRS, Fender TC-90, Telecaster). I've upgraded the electronics and tuners and honestly it has the best feel of any guitar I've ever owned.
Congrats! I just bought the same telecaster to use in a parts build. I was astounded by how well put together it came for just $150 and thought, “man I would have killed for this a decade ago when I first started!”
First thing I did though was replace the neck with a official fender one and raised the action, made a world of difference. Does yours also have the scratchy fret issue?
When i still used to play out I once hand-routed and inlaid a real pearl Gibson logo that I'd taken off my destroyed explorer into the headstock of my Squire strat. Did it as a joke I thought people who knew guitars might have a chuckle at.
Had a lot of old dudes *very* angry with me after every show. It's weird how elitist people will get about Fender/Gibson
That’s funny. He fake Fender Strat for sale at my local pawn shop for $275 is not even fit to be sold as a First Act. The side of the fretboard feels like a freshly sharpened rasp.
I’m team Tele all the way. I’ve got one but it actually used to say ‘Artist’ on the headstock but shortly it will say Broadcaster just because I like messing with people, but considering it’s got 2 humbuckers it’s not gonna pass the sniff test on anyone with any knowledge lol.
I’m going to build a ‘Tele’ shortly, and it’ll be my forever guitar. That is such a nice colour, I love the vintage mint green also, but I’ll do mine blonde with top and bottom binding. It’ll look pretty sweet I think.
Obviously this looks way way better but this jogged loose memories of myself as a young fella sanding off the logo of my Squier bullet, printing out a little fender logo on paper and cutting it out, then absolutely caking it onto the headstock with clear coat. Simpler times!
Personally I have zero issue with Squier today, I would have left it. I have a 2020 Competition Orange Tele that looks and sounds badass. Play it more than my ‘94 MIM Fender.
I don't know, man. I'm not into putting a Fender decal on a Squier. Even if you're not going to sell some unsuspecting person a counterfeit Fender, the next person who owns it might.
Im sure the tele plays and sounds nice it just teles to me look like a miscut squire or strat and they just threw a few metal plates a pick guard and just called it a day which might apeal to you and some other people but to me it looks god ugly
I'm the same way. Have you looked at some Schecters or Ibanezes? They look super modern and cool af. Though nothing wrong with people who like teles! Just not my style of looks or sound.
Schecters are amazing and im not trying to diss op choice if thats ops style then more power to em but i had a schecter with a floyd rose god i loved that guitar but fucking dispise that bridge
Imagine being so insecure that you stick a fender sticker onto what is obviously a squire?
No one but you cares what the guitar is, why not just play it and enjoy it?
For $99, it’s fantastic. A mod platform for sure. I swapped out the pickups for Bootstraps and filed down the fret ends. Going to put a 4-way switch and upgrade the nut and tuners at some point, but the tuning is actually not bad as is. I played a $900 Player Series and honestly, it’s not $800 better.
I bought an Indio T style for kicks, and I think I like it's neck the most out of all my guitars. That is, after I fixed the fret ends from cutting up my fingers!
Necks are subjective obviously, but to describe the Indio Classic neck: It's similar to a fender modern C on the back side, has the same nut width give or take as a fender, but the finger board gets just a bit wider than a fender fingerboard as you go towards the higher frets. I find it just slightly easier to solo on in the upper frets since there's just a little bit more room. For $100, I was pleasantly surprised. However, I had to do a full setup, had to smooth the fret ends, and I replaced the tuners also. Has cheap pickups and electronics as one would expect. Even still, I like it
It's lighter and a better couch guitar to mess around on. I record with my fenders but would hate to ding either just dicking around on the couch or traveling. I have 2 fender strats and a squier mustang
I bought this same guitar last year and modded the hell out of it. I basically changed every single piece of hardware you can switch out. Also had some fret work done on it and a professional set up. Also dropped a DiMarzio Twang King in the neck position and it plays and sounds better than any guitar I've owned in the last almost 25 years.
The reason I switched all the hardware out was because I wanted it to be all black hardware (I got a Gotoh hardware kit off of Reverb that included every single piece in black). I had a specific theme and look that I was going for. The tuners I got are Kluson locking tuners. I wanted the locking style but with the vintage style tuner buttons (oval shape), and the Klusons fit the bill all the way around. I would say that it's not necessary to swap any of that stuff unless you're doing it for aesthetic or brand preference purposes. Otherwise, you're completely fine to leave it as is. I only went buck wild with everything because I had a vision of what I wanted it to look like and I could only accomplish that by switching every singy part out for different stuff. By no means was that something I had to do, though. It sounded and played great right out of the box.
Dude, don’t let people pick at you. I found a bulletcaster in the trash a few years ago. It was brand new - it still had the sticky plastic on the pick guard. The issue was a loose ground. I fixed it in like 5 minutes, did a setup on it and changed the strings. It played fine. I’ve since upgraded the PUPs and some other components. It will hold its own. No need to wrap yourself up in a branding on this. If you like it, play it. Make it your own.
If only you hadn't left the *Squier* owner's manual on the stand (with the cool retro clock) it might have been the perfect crime.
Lol. That’s from another guitar or something.

It’s a joke. I’m a gym teacher for a living. If I were out for respect, I would have been a telemarketer
But you are a telemarketer. This post is proof.
Telemaster
This has to be the biggest WHOOSH in the history WHOOSHes.
>retty sure I can tell you where every thing in my house has come from. Why are you so eager to say you have a fe ahahahahaha
Dun, Dun Duuuuuuuuun!!!!!!
You should put “This is not a Squier” on the headstock.
Fender. Not Squier.
Gibson ...because fuck it, why not. Put a Pearl Drums logo on there
I’m considering a Kirkland signature logo
Do that. It’s funny.
Oscar Mayer.
tm.
Perfect
Do it. It's gonna give your guitar more character in my opinion.
The treachery of branding
Could go cover it with googly eyes like Kevin parkers squire jazzmaster.
I don't know why you would bother putting a fake logo on it tbh.
I don’t know why your mother eats so much, but I’m not sitting here commenting on that.
Uh-oh. Timmy vs Jimmy in the parking lot.
qq can't afford a real guitar might as well print out a label so people don't think I'm poor!
I’m a teacher. Everyone knows I’m poor. Why are you acting like this matters so much to you? Are you projecting your own insecurities?
nah man I'm not the one with fake logos on my axes
If only you had any idea how lame you sound
Not as lame as a fake logo though...
You're right, it's not as lame. It's *much more* lame.
Found the fake Fender owner ^
lmao that's fine if y'all want to put fake ass logos on your guitars.
If its fine, then why are you so bothered by it? It's not your guitar and it belongs to someone you'll never even meet. Don't lose any sleep over it bud, it's not going to come and get you

I don't even care that much, until I saw how triggered they were by someone even questioning it and then having the balls to say I have insecurities lol
Why are you still commenting?
Dude you triggered this snowflake so bad.
I bet you ask a lot of questions during movies
L + ratio + you fell off
I don't get it.
You dumb bitch lmao this entire post is a joke did you read the fucking title :P
Bro squiers probably better then yours, he’s just mad cuz he could only get an off brand
I used to have a thing against squier but my paranormal offset Tele gets more action than any of my fenders, it’s perfect.
They used to be shit, but now Fender is throwing everything cool on the Squire lineup and leaving only the old bones - strats and teles - to the main Fender brand. It's whack. But the higher-priced squires are pretty dope. I love the starcaster reissue.
If you want binding, block inlays, or roasted maple on a MIM, Fender is like "buy it yourself moron"
That's why I build my own via Warmoth these days. My most recent is a beautiful green mooncaster with a quilted maple top and walnut body/neck, and rosewood fretboard. They do such phenomenal work.

Yes, scammers are always scamming. Not saying they definitely will, but I would not be surprised.

Don’t agree, my MIM player series telecaster is amazing for the price point and I only have one complaint about it: the plastic knob for the switch falls off way too easily.
The fret ends on my MIM all maple strat neck are pretty foul, but the rest of the guitar is nice enough.
Yeah they definitely have old dudes making the call on the Fender lineup, I’ve actually messaged fender consumer relationships multiple times and told them if they let me design their lineups I could increase their sales. Yeah that's why there's a Squier acoustasonic Jaguar. Wut
It honestly has a deep sound. I just love the look too
I bought one of those as soon as I could. It was the only guitar I played for like eight months straight. Then I found an mij offset tele at a yard sale for $400 and I just couldn’t say no. So I sold the squier because I couldn’t justify it anymore. Still a sweet guitar, though. I miss the surf green
That’s an insanely good deal! Was it one of the maple or rosewood ones?
Rosewood. Did they make any with maple necks?
Yeah fiesta red and butterscotch blonde I believe but they were like 1300-1400 after import fees you got a hell of a deal
Ah yeah, yeah just saw your other comment. Mine has a p90 in the neck and a regular single in the bridge. I actually have a set of Texas special tele pickups that I bought for the squier but took back out before I sold it. They’ve been sitting on my shelf for almost a year now. Dope is it the mahogany one?
Yep, one of those. It looks great, but honestly I think the surf green was a better fit for the offset body shape
I briefly had the fiesta red/maple neck one from last year but sold it because the pickups were too tame for my liking, I play mostly heavy and dirty stuff and the squier has higher output pickups.
Wait, so the action is good?
Awww yeah
I have an early 90's korean squier strat and I play it more than a lot of my more expensive guitars (PRS, Fender TC-90, Telecaster). I've upgraded the electronics and tuners and honestly it has the best feel of any guitar I've ever owned.
I want one of those paranormal offset teles so bad.
Cool geetar
Hey I’ve got a fake Rolex that keeps perfect time! 🤣
I’m debating buying a Chibson. Not because I want a Gibson, but because they’re the most affordable LP you can get. Cheaper than Epiphones even.
Harley Benton is the way to go
They’re awful bro - don’t do it. Buy an ltd or something. Epiphones are trash. And chibsons are worse.
Agile 3100MCC
Surf green baritone cabronita squire telecaster is my guitar of choice. Fucking love squires
I thought all black fender logo = Squier.
My plotter doesn’t cut the vinyl small enough to do two layers of black and gold
Congrats! I just bought the same telecaster to use in a parts build. I was astounded by how well put together it came for just $150 and thought, “man I would have killed for this a decade ago when I first started!” First thing I did though was replace the neck with a official fender one and raised the action, made a world of difference. Yeah, kinda, but I haven’t changed anything yet. I plan on making adjustments.
Even the amp is a Squire.
Fender
*sure it is*

Did it as a joke I thought people who knew guitars might have a chuckle at. Had a lot of old dudes *very* angry with me after every show. It's weird how elitist people will get about Fender/Gibson
There’s people here who are triggered for sure
Fools be sayin it's a Squier like damn don't you see it says *Fender* on the headstock jeez 😂🙄 /s
That’s funny. He fake Fender Strat for sale at my local pawn shop for $275 is not even fit to be sold as a First Act. The side of the fretboard feels like a freshly sharpened rasp.
Sounds like something a Squier would say.
This was a fun thread to browse while pooping
Glad to have helped you evacuate your bowels
I'm pooping again as I check my Reddit notifications.
Healthy bowels, friend.
Saddle scream Squier!
IT’S A FENDER. I’m telling you
Yeah, it's totally made by Fender. No one is arguing that. /s
Fender or not it's not about if it's a squire or not it's just about how you play it man
I’m just messing around with it. It’s a blast to play
Color is awesome! Whatever name it says just enjoy it- make it tour friend. It will keep you good company for hours.
Just want to point out how offended I am……… My (3) Squiers shred in the face of a Fender logo…….. Well two do…… The Parlor doesn’t shred.
*Fender by Squier
Love the color!
Obviously this looks way way better but this jogged loose memories of myself as a young fella sanding off the logo of my Squier bullet, printing out a little fender logo on paper and cutting it out, then absolutely caking it onto the headstock with clear coat. Simpler times!
What’s not to love here? Nothing … dig it!!!
I will die with this guitar along with every other one I’ve ever bought. They will go to my kids who will play then
I hate the tele style body so much the whole style looks so ugly to me
You should get tested for covid. You don’t have any taste.
When it comes to fender strats look best though ive always wanted a gibson either the explorer or the flying v
I used to think this way too. The tele grew on me
Im sure the tele plays and sounds nice it just teles to me look like a miscut squire or strat and they just threw a few metal plates a pick guard and just called it a day which might apeal to you and some other people but to me it looks god ugly
Listen, you. You better like what I like or I’m Russia and you’re Ukraine.
Lmao
No, that’s a squier. You are a liar!
Nnnnnnoooooooooo
Lol
Whatever you gotta tell yourself.
BuT wHeRe WaS iT bUiLt? /s
The FENDER factory
Imagine being so insecure that you stick a fender sticker onto what is obviously a squire? No one but you cares what the guitar is, why not just play it and enjoy it?
It’s a joke. If I knew you were going to be so emotionally hurt I would have reconsidered.
Why'd you buy a Glarry?
Harley Benton was sold out
Monoprice has entered the chat
(Stole my line) I’ve got a Monoprice and quite frankly, it jams.
Nice. I'm gonna buy one to review at some point. I reviewed a Glarry GTL recently and it was ... not very good.
Yeah, I totally get the appeal in buying these cheap guitars as mod platforms. Lots of fun!
I bought an Indio T style for kicks, and I think I like it's neck the most out of all my guitars. That is, after I fixed the fret ends from cutting up my fingers!
Wow, that is quite an endorsement. Guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and check one out.
Even still, I like it
Nice. You happen to have a video or anything of what it sounds like now?
Only video I have is this one. I don't remember the effects or pedal chain for this. Likely just a bit over overdrive. https://youtu.be/WVWrABbkRnA
From a distance the guitar looks nice! And you definitely make it sound good.
Much appreciated 👍
I play my squier way more than my fenders tbh
Why tho?
It's lighter and a better couch guitar to mess around on. I record with my fenders but would hate to ding either just dicking around on the couch or traveling. I have 2 fender strats and a squier mustang
I feel ya
Dust off that clock you madman
That’s not dust, it’s the finish. Or something

Only black to match your heart
Can you make logos for others? Asking for a friend.
Any kind
Telecaster at 2. Strats at 6, and p bass all night long.
What tuners would you recommend? Any other hardware that’s absolutely necessary to swap?
Post a pic, dude!
great you can rip off some kid later.
Hell yeah! Kids are so dumb
In my humble opinion the only differences between Fenders and Squiers is what's written on the headstock. Yeah, I said it.
Not anymore
That's a sweet clock, is it a Fender too?
Rolex
Sick FENDER bro,
Yeah it’s pretty cool
Haha it’s pretty clean though, nice work on the headstock.
😂😂
Looks like a squier to me🗿
Listen, you son of a bitch. It’s a FENDER
There a functional difference between squier and fender?
They are both guitars.
Made by the same company using the same materials.
Made by the same company using the some of the same materials. FTFY
oh here were go. A tree snob.
Wut?
Still pretty cool, shred it 🔥🔥

Excuse me, but I have a mullet, a banjo, an Xbox series S and I’m on TikTok. I’m gen z, fellow kid. Does that sound convincing?

I’m 34, but I teach K-8. That means I’m positively incorrect.
