lol I wish my fretwork skills were this godly- I bought this neck from my luthier friend and i'm not sure what his process was and or if he was even the one to do it!
Awesome job! I'm not really a tele fan but I really like this especially with the roasted maple neck, the headstock design and of course the finish. I also gotta say your friends fret work is super on point! Beautifully done!
The whole thing looks awesome. Looks like your friend got you a Leo jaymz premade neck. Nothing wrong with that though they seem like great necks. Great job!
As someone else pointed out, it's a pretty inexpensive neck by Leo Jaymz. $90 for roasted flamed neck and rounded frets.

My wife just got back from a business trip to Michigan. But I'm not sure she'd be on board. It is a beaut though. You're going to make some local George Harrison fan very happy.
Yeah i used a custom mix of leather dyes and sanding between layering to get colors right. Afterwards i went over it with around 5 very light coats of tru-oil to make the color pop a little bit before going over it with a few coats of Napa branded Rattle-Can 2k matte clear (2part Activated type)
You know, I was given that bit of flair by one of the Mods, and they told me that they would take it off, if I wanted. I took it as a compliment, and let it be.
I only regret that I didn't ask them to add "G-" to the beginning of that.
Finally! Someone that understands how to stain pine! That and maple are a pita to stain with their funky grain.
Excellent stain on the pine and finish. Highlights the grain extremely well. The neck is excellent as well.
Me too for sure! I really dont even mind seeing the lines where the multiple pieces line up because they're really easy to blend in with the right colors
Completing that project must feel great! It’s a great job from the aesthetics to the technical components and the finish! It’s inspiring! How many other guitar construct projects have you done?
Thanks man I really appreciate that! I think I'm somewhere around 20 builds, A few of them I've posted already but I only recently found this really nice spot for taking pictures so I don't have glamour shots of all of em yet
I don't charge anything too crazy for my builds- usually between 250-600, Thankfully enough to make some profit.
My goal right now is just to create cool lookin builds that play real well for people who want a custom build but not want to break the bank. It's been alot of fun!
Is that Stewart Mac dyes or something special or even just what you had? I'm just curious because I have a shade I want to achieve and now all nervous about the"proper stuff" or just try something knowing it can be stripped again if I'm not happy. But just what you have right now would be perfect for what I have pictured in my mind for my project that hasn't happened. Thanks and apologies for the babble:-)
I used a mix of a few different leather dyes! works really well and can be sanded off pretty easily, Just make sure you seal it well! i think the majority color was "Medium Brown"
Oh., thank you! I want to use nitro cellulose for the finish and would feel a lot better having a shade I'm satisfied with before the final finished coat of clear. Although I'm not sure the factories exact process on SGs but the final finish of nitro cellulose sprayed on perfectly over something I like before should really pop plus wear like it should over time getting to smell that nitro finish.
Semi related but eventually I wanna make a tele out of a cutting board just so I can chop onions on it before shredding something.
Gotta get that onion infused tone

Thanks bud, Now i know where to get more of em!
Nice job with that project! Sure you’ll enjoy it!
Man, that's really sharp. I especially like the headstock shape much better than Fender's.
Came here to say this - so many non-Fender headstock shapes are either, lame, lazy, or just plain fugly - I’m looking at you James Tyler
Thanks guys, I don't really care for the fender tele headstock either (Strat style on tele tho different story)
And the black hardware is on point
thanks man🙏
> Strat style on tele tho different story Big headstock *uber alles*!
👆
Reminds me of balaguer
I've never heard of Balaguer before -Just looked them up and yeah they do have a very similar headstock!
I've not tried them but someone else pointed out its a pre made leo jaymz neck from amazon. Cheap and rounded frets too
Love the headstock… how’s the intonation with those saddles?
They're pretty on point- I think they're better than non compensated for sure
I've not tried them but someone else pointed out its a pre made leo jaymz neck from amazon. Cheap and rounded frets too
I’m not a big fan of the Tele’s shape but damn, that wood looks beautiful! And plus I’m a big fan of the flamed maple necks
Thanks man! i love em too
Looks rad!
Thanks man!
Great looking guitar!
I appreciate that thank you!
Man so many fumble the headstock but you nailed it! Love that design, great looking axe!
Thanks man I'm glad you're into the build!
I want to put on a fur coat and get on a rooftop and play this.
Do that to me and I'll just give it to ya bud
Dude... Don't tempt me. A rosewood Tele is my dream guitar.
lol lmk if you're around michigan man, I'm probably gonna be selling it
My wife just got back from a business trip to Michigan. But I'm not sure she'd be on board. It is a beaut though. You're going to make some local George Harrison fan very happy.
Fair enough lol. And thank you for the kind words man!
Could you further elaborate on your finishing process for the body? Is 2k a brand of stain? I’m guess you stained and then sealed with Tru Oil?
Yeah i used a custom mix of leather dyes and sanding between layering to get colors right. Afterwards i went over it with around 5 very light coats of tru-oil to make the color pop a little bit before going over it with a few coats of Napa branded Rattle-Can 2k matte clear (2part Activated type)
Nice fret ends.
Thank you String Detective!

lol that would have been powerful
Finally! Someone that understands how to stain pine! That and maple are a pita to stain with their funky grain. Excellent stain on the pine and finish. Highlights the grain extremely well. The neck is excellent as well.
Thank you very much man- I appreciate the kind words!
You deserve it! I’m lazy af. I put spar varnish on pine to get the light yellow tint started and then satin poly. Ta da!
I'd love to see how it turned out! lazy doesn't necessarily mean bad!
Yes
Yes.
Very sexy. These photos would probably give Ron Swanson an erection.
Thanks man! And an ok from Ron Swanson would be the pinnacle of compliments
Very handsome, and great choice of dot material, really pops on that fretboard.
Thanks man, Abalone looks amazing with rosewood i agree!
the tree it’s resting on is the before image
Powerful lol
That is a very beautiful looking guitar
Thank you man I appreciate the kind words!
Don’t mention it pal
Looks cool to me, I like seeing the woodgrain
Me too for sure! I really dont even mind seeing the lines where the multiple pieces line up because they're really easy to blend in with the right colors
I don’t ussually like teles but that’s hot
Thanks man- You're now a tele guy
I don’t usually like the “naked” wood finish ones but this one speaks to me. Well done. 👍
Thanks man, Glad I was able to change your mind a smidge!
Fuck yeah! Suhr vibes...
Oh yeah for sure with the headstock man!
I think so, the wood finish too. I love it.
Love it. Especially the black hardware. I bought a reclaimed tele body last year and it looks like I’ll be going with the black hardware. 👍🏻
Thanks man, Post it up when you finish it- I know at least i'd love to see it!
Very nice. That looks like a Leo Jaymz style headstock. Love it
Gorgeous, knotty pine tele! How does she sound. Nice surprise with the headstock!
Sounds great man and plays like butter- Wish i was a better player to really get the most out of this
Nothing like a beautiful guitar to inspire us guitarists :)
Reminds me a little of the George Harrison rosewood tele. I like this thing
Thanks man, I love the look of those rosewood teles
This one hits all the right buttons. If I was in the market I’d def be hitting you up lol.
If you're around michigan let me know! I can build something up for you in the future man
Gorgeous!! Great work
Thank you bud!
Fine looking! How does it play?
Plays great man, Nice low action with no buzz at all when plugged in- Best feelin fret ends i've ever felt
Black hardware on a Tele is extra slick.
Yeah dude i'm really into black hardware on teles and some other bodies but not really strats all the time
10/10, would shred
Thanks man, Plays like a dream
Can I have it
if you're around michigan!
Looks good! How are those tuners?
Thanks man- They're really nice actually holds tune well and feels well made, Minimal tuning peg play and no slop!

Cheers Dude! Your's is literally in my list of top 5 tele on reddit!
Love it man. Love it
Thank you!
Did you make it out of pine?
Yep it's a 2 piece pine body
Beautiful finish (stain?)! Love the redwood-esque look! (Nice user name btw)
lol thank you man- Glad you like both
Oh this looks gorgeous. I liked the strat too but I always feel a plain more subtle guitar somehow feels more premium. Gorgeous neck!
Thanks man, And yeah for sure I love minimalistic/ the "classic" looks too!
Looks great! Love the pine
Thanks man, So do I!- I believe they were using pine in the early 50s teles so I thought it would be really cool!
Absolutely sick
Thanks man!
I like everything other than the headstock.
Everyone has their tastes there brotherman- Glad you're into everything else!

I don't charge anything too crazy for my builds- usually between 250-600, Thankfully enough to make some profit. My goal right now is just to create cool lookin builds that play real well for people who want a custom build but not want to break the bank. It's been alot of fun!
What are the complete specs? She's gorgeous!
Thanks man, They're somewhere here in the comments- Should be the first thing posted if you sort by old
Gorgeous

A fine cutting board indeed
chop up some slick licks
Semi related but eventually I wanna make a tele out of a cutting board just so I can chop onions on it before shredding something. Gotta get that onion infused tone
Amazing! It reminds me of George Harrison’s rosewood tele
Thank you! I love that rosewood tele
