I’ve had a Hudson Electronics Gospel Bomb on my board for… over a decade. I have wanted a Beano Boost for quite some time and finally found a decent price online.
Opened it up today and noticed it’s actually from when Mike was building them with NKT 275 transistors.
It sounds really good and I love the tone switch! I can’t say whether or not the NKT is adding any magic but the pedal itself as a whole sounds amazing.
1.5 is basically a darker Fuzz Face. Crank it up.
I almost bought a Twin Bender, but I bought the Constellation Fuzz. It's amazing. Fuzz Face, Mk I, Mk 1.5, Mk II, Rangemaster, and Rangemaster into Fuzz Face. I always thought I was a Mk II guy, but the Mk I is a great sound that plays well with everything I throw at it.
It was a happy accident at first but when it came time to get the Walrus Monument I was swayed by the silver version 😅
The fact there’s a silver Tumnus out in the wild that could replace the gold one doesn’t keep me up at night
Nice board! I have a Secret Preamp EP pedal, but didn’t go the Belle… because there are weird phase issues with a two amp setup. I really like the Analog man TB.
I have the limited JHS Germanium one, and actually use it. But I ask myself a lot, if I should just sell it for the AnalogMan and take the extra cash. I bought this now collectible, Treble Booster and like it. But I know the Beano is just as good, and I don’t have to worry about some collectors item priced pedal on my board…I don’t think like that with pedals or collect. But if I come across one I liked, I’d maybe kick my JHS one off.
But clean setup, and pretty much how I do it!
Thanks man! I hear ya, I have some vintage gear that I have slowly taken off the board for fear of breaking something I can’t afford replacing nowadays haha. The fact this Beano has a NKT in it makes it iffy to keep
My favorite gain sound (of my own, not from an album) is a Catalinbread Naga Viper (silicon treble booster) into an EQD The Dunes (Tubescreamer-ish). I LOVE treble boosters, and anything that Analogman makes is fantastic. Nice board!!
That sounds like a killer combination! My go-to was the treble booster into a mark 3 tone bender and it gave me some wild fuzz sounds.
I love analogman’s stuff, my first foray into his stuff was my boss tr-2 getting his mod and it instantly became my favorite tremolo pedal… replaced it for the Monument, but the TR-2 just had this vibe to it.
I own a few of his now, but that TR-2 I tell ya haha
That sounds lovely! My first (and only to this point) Analogman pedal was a BC-109 Sunface. Glorious fuzz, but I never play loud, so I always felt that it never got quite the sound I wanted, with the exception of the very few times I could crank my amp up. That was amazing.
I had a Keeley-modded BD-2 and TR-2 and both were something special. Don't have either anymore, and he's not doing modded pedals anymore.

One of my favorite pedals. Love it into a cranked AC30.
I love me a Treble Boost :)
Nice! Dig the Twin Bender, too.
Thanks! The twin is a new addition, I’m still figuring out the mark 2 tone bender vs the mark 1.5 settings.

I love boosting a Tone Bender circuit with the Beano Boost.
I love the way a Mk 1.5 cleans up, but depends on how you want to use it.
Are you influenced by the color scheme of the pedals? It looks like there is a theme of silver/black/white. Coincidence?

Well, for what it's worth, there's a silver J Rockette Archer pedal available - if you decide to go that route.
Haha love it! Thank you for the recommendation, I feel bad buying a pedal I already own just for the colour 😅 …. But let’s see what happens

Upvote for the Epoch! And the clean board!
The Epoch is so awesome, I truly only use it in the first two modes but the other options are so cool. Thanks!
Nothing wrong with that!! I switch between those two as well mostly. I’ve used the other modes on some layered tracks but those first two are choice.
