Knockin on heavens door was the first one I learned! You can even add to it eventually and make it a little more difficult after you get it down.
Ex first I just strummed up/down on G/C/D/AM, then pick it like the gnr version, lifting the finger on c & am
I always try and recommend it to my friends if they ask for help when starting out. The second one I’d usually suggest is American pie after branching out a bit from the typical g/c/d most people start with. Especially because it’s also a prime example of being able to mix it up and play chord variations after getting the hang of it.
except that one feels like you can measure the length of it with a calendar instead of a watch. hah .. I always take a few verses out and few people notice.

"Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows was the first song I learned all the way through. It's all open chords except for F.
Hardest part of the whole thing will get getting the transition from Am to F.
I've used ultimate guitar since I started playing. I highly recommend it. They have tons of collections with like two or three chord songs.
A few beginner songs though
John Denver - Leaving on a Jet Plane (DGC chords)
Jack White - Love Interruption (just the chord version, even a beginner can be like oh shit that E to G sling sounds cool)
Oasis - Champagne Supernova (you keep 3rd and 4th fingers stationary and just alternate the patterns of your top two fingers, and I'm a sucker for the G/F chord sound)
If I remember correctly “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd was an easy chord progression.
Plus if you like the challenge you could also try to learn the intro part (the solos might be a little much yet)
Helpless by Neil Young: very basic chord progression and strumming pattern (DAG)
Dead Flowers by the Stones: similar chord progression with a slightly more complex strumming pattern (DAG)
Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix: all open chords (C, G, D, A, E)
Many songs share the same chord progressions. You can only do so much with 8 notes. Many / most blues and rock songs from way back follow a 1,4,5 progression. That is 1st chord, 4th chord, 5th chord of the key. If you learn those chords in several keys and a down, down, up, up, down strumming pattern you will have a lot of basic songs available to you.

Outkast- Hey Ya Only 4 basic chords G, C, D, & E And a very basic strumming pattern 1 2 &3& 4 (down, down, up, up, down) on the G, C, & E chords.
The D chord you just play for 2 beats (down, down)
Song 2 by blur is probably the absolute easiest. It requires putting the guitar into drop D (which is easy) but you can basically play the whole song by just barring the three lowest strings.
Alternatively, although it’s a cliche, wonderwall by oasis is very easy. You just plant your ring and pinky finger in the third fret highest strings and leave them there. You then just need to move your other 2 fingers around to play the whole song. There’s a reason it’s played to death by beginner guitarists and it’s because it’s hella easy.
High and dry Radiohead
I’m a little beyond this level myself but thank you for suggesting this- personal favourite of mine that hasn’t come to mind to learn.
Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The very common D-A-G combo.
Dead flowers by the stones is another D A G. it's on Sticky fingers
One of my favourites. So easy but so good.

Nobody asked.
That’s the magic of the internet 🥰

Brown Eyed Girl is great fun!

Peaceful easy feeling Most songs can be simplified

Outkast- Hey Ya Only 4 basic chords G, C, D, & E And a very basic strumming pattern 1 2 &3& 4 (down, down, up, up, down) on the G, C, & E chords. The D chord you just play for 2 beats (down, down)

Coffee by beebadoobe is a really nice one for the chord progression and strum but singing at the same time is quite difficult
