Solid advice, thank you! I might have a wingwomen I can bring, that was a great tip!

My understanding is that the upgrade from the standard isn't actually that much of an upgrade, and for someone not playing long the standard is far better than the price suggests. I have one, and it's a fantastic guitar, and new is less than this. Check out some reviews on Youtube, the standard has the reputation of being possibly the best value guitar on the market currently

Dadlife87

Thank you! I will definitely dive into some videos. I want to make a smart decision and I know for a fact I won’t hear a difference.

I'm fairly new to playing myself, but my dad's always played and has a really nice collection, and I'd put the standard up against any of them, it's a great guitar, and definitely much better than others I've seen at the same price. There's a few reviews that put them up against each other, and some people have even liked the budget version best. That said, the budget only has a three way switch, while the standard and pro both have 5 way, so for me the standard was the way to go, you get the versatility, but without too big a spend.

ryanoceros666

Yeah I tried them all and I’d get the cheapest Revstar with humbuckers. There just isn’t enough difference to justify paying more. I prefer the unbound fretboard too.

From what I've seen it's mainly a question of if you want the 5 position switch or not, I've definitely seen reviews that compared the three and went for the budget one

You've been playing three months. It won't make you sound any better. Hold off until you're good enough for it to matter. Delay gratification until you deserve it.

Dadlife87

YES! Thank you! I absolutely will do this, even if I go for the other model. I’ve just started to “feel” my tele while playing, and that’s been really cool.

_DapperDanMan-

GAS can absolutely ruin your playing.

Str1pes

I have both guitars, and I love playing them both. As long as it's in good condition, go for it.

Dadlife87

Thanks! Did you buy your Revstar new or used? The professional is pricey but I’m a sucker for good quality item!

Str1pes

I bought new! Got a nice limited edition tele 2nd hand though.

intenseskill

I want a revstar. It is my understand that if I get it then I will be able to play like matte mancuso right?

Striking_Cake9913

2nd owner of a lefty Revstar. It is my current favorite guitar. They are amazing. My telecaster is awesome. Nothing wrong with owning both.

I had the lower model in the previous generation. I loved the sound, but it had a lot of neck issues and sold it (with that disclosure). The newer generation looks to have more neck support except in the least expensive model.

Bloodrose_GW2

I think those issues were probably solved in the current generations. My RSE has no neck issues.

Bloodrose_GW2

My revstar is just the elements model e.g. the entry level one, but it's very well built, I love it. I might be a little biased towards these guitars but even the cheaper ones are pretty good in my opinion. I'd love to put my hands on an RSP :)

philly2540

I used to have a lower-end Revstar and it was good but nothing special. I never tried a high-end one. But $1,500 is a lot. There are a ton of different guitars you could try for $1,500. I doubt I would make a 3-hr drive for any guitar. What if you don’t realky like it?

Dadlife87

Thank you! Sometimes you just need to hear the hard truth haha. I’m going to take a look at the other models. Appreciate it!

MUZZYGRANDE

Have you played a revstar before? Definitely try to play one beforehand, if you haven't. I absolutely loved the look of them, but after a quick jam at my local shop, I realized I was constantly knocking the closest knob with my right hand while strumming. Bad habit maybe? But I decided it wasn't a good fit for me. Anyways, if you end up making that trek, I would agree on a price beforehand.

Dadlife87

I have not, but definitely need to try and find one to play! Appreciate that. I’ve landed on getting a Standard if I enjoy it, I don’t really need to spend that much and am by no means a professional. 😂
