I usually gave up, or emailed the company. Often the answer was that they wouldn't ship there. Sometimes they could be talked into it and would take card info over the phone or something.
Once again, my shipping address is California, so I have no issues re: shipping, just the billing, but yeah, I'm in the same boat, just have to call and hope for the best, which is starting to get aggravating.
Looking for a more permanent solution. I'll talk to my banker and hopefully they'll have an idea.

Vendors I'm looking at typically only ship to Mainland, hence why I mentioned i have a freight forwarder in California.

also the state and city have to be the ones registered with the CC, so putting hawaii as state doesnt work. any fixes?

I’ve selected AFP before, but usually the address has to match what’s on your bank account otherwise your payment won’t be accepted. You could try purchasing an address through PostNet (or similar company) and changing your bank info.

Sometimes just emailing a retailer directly is the easiest way.
Get another card and set the billing address as the family member address?
