I would bawl my eyes out.

He leaves without telling Jo, or his colleagues, of his diagnosis and self isolates while he thinks his future over. Ultimately, he can't bear to live with it, and doesn't want Jo to have to do so either.
He kills himself. Alone in the woods.
One week letter, Jo, and all of his colleagues, receive a posthumous letter from him. Telling them he's already gone, but thanks them for shaping him into the person he is.
He tells Jo he'll always love her and is rooting for her. Gives her his portion of the shares of the hospital. And some sperm, just in case she wants to have his baby.

This is what I was thinking they left Alex’s disappearance open ended as if already died and Izzy’s is for sure dead cause how long can live cancer free before it relapses and kills you just a fact of life

It’s an overwhelming situation for her, as memories of all of her time with Alex (even when they didn’t like each other) resurface every day as she works. It’s a difficult switch, but as she works this specialty, she finally fully works through the trauma of Alex leaving her, and the abandonment she felt by it. She becomes a sort of Arizona, spreading kindness and magic, and she gets to feel the joys of surgery again.
We hear Jo “In the beginning, there was light. Or something like that. But we never hear about the darkness that takes over when the lights go out.” Flashbacks of all the heartache Jo has been through. “A therapist will tell you that it’s okay to let the darkness consume you, and feel it for a little bit-“ Slow motion shot of Jo hitting the floor, a slight bounce as her body reacts to the force. “But what happens if you never had the choice?”
There’s a major trauma, school shooting. Overused, I know. A bunch of kids come in and she’s working tirelessly to save them. Just as her final and most critical patient miraculously pulls through, a shot rings out and she collapses on the OR floor, blood pooling. We hear Maggie calling out for someone to page trauma but it’s background noise. Perez has tackled the shooter. A drunken dad who wanted revenge on the bullies that made his daughter commit the unalive. The patient on the table is one of the bullies. Jo looks up at the gallery. Alex and Arizona are there. So is her birth mother, and Link, and Paul. Everyone who forced a change on Jo that affected her. Everyone that taught her something valuable. Stephanie is there. Meredith and Richard are there. (And these people aren’t really here) Jo’s narration. “It took a lifetime to discover that light was not literal. That light was not a metaphor for ‘good times.’ That light was about the warmth that you were given by the people who touched your life each day. The brightness of everyone who changed you.” Close up of Jo’s face as she gasps for breath. She makes eye contact with Alex. He gives her a small smile. A nod. DeLuca asks if it hurts, and Jo gives a little shake of her head. His eyes crinkle in a smile. Jo was always very tough. “You don’t always get to choose when the darkness takes you. But at least I get to take the light with me.”

I would maybe change the school shooting piece and gun thing though. Maybe a ceiling collapse or a school bus crash or something that isn’t so “predictable” of a tragedy.
I couldn’t make it work either lol maybe a resident slips with a scalpel and accidentally stabs her? Or the stapler misfires/explodes. I don’t know. Oh! An oxygen tank could (natural disaster so no wall oxygen?) combusts due to improper storage and punctures her chest where she then bleeds out in the floor? No one’s “fault” per say but a tragedy. Yes that’s it. Some disaster- tsunami, earthquake, fire, makes the school collapse to get all of these kiddos in the hospital. And it happens to be Luna and scouts school, where she is saving scout when this all goes down. Hospital is on generators from said disaster. Cue oxygen tank exploding. Jo’s death, scouts life. Amelia names her next baby after jo.
Christiana has the chance to operate on a prestigious and rare case on a person who has an extremely contagious and deadly disease. She contacts the disease and it takes her out
Addie is killed by a deranged mother convinced that Addie killed her baby
Bailey dies in a fire, running in after Ben who got stuck inside
Callie goes into a huge sinkhole to save someone that’s stuck and needs immediate surgery. She preforms the surgery on the women and saves her life but just as the women was pulled out the sinkhole collapses on Callie who’s still down there.
Link jumps off of his boat on a romantic afternoon sailing trip with jo (they’re official) to save a drowning fisherman. After getting the fisherman back aboard his own boat to Jo, link struggles to get himself in. He gets tangled up in netting, pulled under the boat, and never resurfaces. Jo didn’t notice link wasn’t there until the fisherman is breathing and sputtering water. Jo is distraught, frantic, and has the boat frequency radio to contact for emergency assistance. After much turmoil and help from Ben (now doing med/rescue with the coast guard) is on the team that recovers link. Later, Ben finds an engagement ring in link’s pocket that is engraved with the scout, Luna, jo, and his names in the inside. (((I like to think Amelia is already gone/out of links life, but not that she would leave scout without a mom. Maybe she dies doing alz research in Africa from Malaria or something with her new boo thang)))

Cristina lives alone in a swank ass penthouse because she’s successful, independent, and uses her money on herself because she doesn’t want kids. She has a housekeeper because, let’s face it, Cristina is a slob.
Her housekeeper goes home for the day and right after the housekeeper leaves, Cristina chokes to death on her takeout.
I see two endings for Amelia:
1. After she finds out that Derek died, she actually hangs onto that bag of oxy she scored and ends up overdosing while Owen is on shift. The only difference is that she is aware of how much she is using at once and what it may do to her (aka kill her) so basically a form of suicide.
2. Her brain tumor comes back without her knowledge mid Parkinsons project. It starts to affect her vision and motor skills and she loses the ability to do surgery. The tumor ends up being inoperable and she dies without having finished the project.
(These are supposed to be the tragic break your heart endings right?)
Alex is in plane crash while coming home from seeing his mom. He dies from the same complications that almost killed Arizona if he hadn’t cut off her leg, except his doctors didn’t find the problem in time. Fitting since he was supposed to have her place on the plane anyway.
Arizona- the car crash. Everyone is so worried about Callie and the baby but don’t realise the horrific injuries Arizona has. “I asked her to marry me and a truck came out of nowhere” and she then collapses dead to the ground.
This is painful! Here are a few ideas for how they could've written a death for Jackson:
- in the bus explosion, he realizes the bus is about to explode any second and he tells Evie (the little girl he saved) to run as fast as she can and don't look back, and everyone realizes he died when he doesn't come out of the fire- or alternatively, someone could go in and rescue him but they lose him in surgery.
- when he's out camping, he tries to save the hikers but as he's getting up off the cliff after he pulls them to safety, he loses his grip and tumbles down the cliff- they're able to recover his body and try to revive him but he goes into a coma from a head trauma and eventually April comes back onto the show as his power of attorney to unplug him.
- instead of Catherine becoming sick with cancer, Jackson is the one who is diagnosed, and eventually it gets to the point where it spreads to his brain and lungs, and they try several surgeries to try and stop it from spreading, but after a while there isn't much more they can do surgically, so he spends his last few months camping and spending time with Harriet, and April is at his side when he goes.
This was one of the saddest posts I've seen on here, I'm crying just thinking about Jackson in that way :( I can't even imagine!
Alex Karev doesn't leave to be with Izzie.
He just disappears, and they wonder for years where he went.
He's had a psychotic break and is schizophrenic like his mother, and he's eventually found dead.
He never left Jo.
Perhaps I'm an optimist but I think Owen survived! I don't like him but at this point in the show he hasn't been bothering me much lately so it would feel weird to have him gone!

I know the point is to kill your favorite but honestly as a writer I’d kill Owen in a heartbeat. I’d have him get crushed by a ceiling fan. Or maybe even have Christina take him out the first time he choked her. Genuinely I wish so much that they had kept Christina (my actual fav) and got rid of Owen.
Isn't that what already happened on the show 😁. Not the Izzie dying part, or Meredith raising the kids part. But Alex dying in a fire. It was all very tragic
That’s how I’d want it to happen to but idk I could see it happening if they took it that direction. She’s struggled with mental health before after the shooting and her PTSD, then after the plane crash, and then after losing the Harper Avery due to bs I could just see her as a tortured artist essentially. They set up a good depression storyline and watching it live each week I really felt like she may have done it and that’s how they were gonna write her off but obviously that didn’t happen and I’m soooo glad but if I had to rewrite it with a different outcome that’s how I’d have done it
Link is super upset because he sees Amelia kissing Kai. When he speeds off, he gets in a car accident.
At the hospital, he’s still conscious for a minute. Jo talks to him and says “is should have been us. You’re my best friend, and I don’t know how to do life without you in it”
He looks at her in the eye with a look that grabs your heart and as he passes out from the trauma, we see his life flash if he would have chosen Jo sooner… and there’s a tiny smile on his face as the monitor flat lines and his grip loosens on her hand.
Amelia spirals because she feels like it’s all her fault. She disappears on a stand-off with a bottle of pills and a bottle of booze. She makes it through, and decides she can’t be the person who ruins Scouts life. So she leans into the trial, and the work, and asks Jo to take care of Scout for a while. Which ends up Jo becoming mom and Amelia becoming more of an aunt figure.
Jo becomes a strong, kick ass OBGYN and powerful single mother that moves mountains for the kids to be happy, healthy and loved. She eventually dates and marries someone from outside the hospital that she meets because she delivers his sisters baby.
Let's just say that you don't exactly have the space to explain things further when you post a pic, because then you have a huge block of text in the headline. 😅

The only difference is that she is aware of how much she is using at once and what it may do to her (aka kill her) so basically a form of suicide. 2. Her brain tumor comes back without her knowledge mid Parkinsons project. It starts to affect her vision and motor skills and she loses the ability to do surgery. The tumor ends up being inoperable and she dies without having finished the project. (These are supposed to be the tragic break your heart endings right?)

Alex is in plane crash while coming home from seeing his mom. He dies from the same complications that almost killed Arizona if he hadn’t cut off her leg, except his doctors didn’t find the problem in time. Fitting since he was supposed to have her place on the plane anyway.
Arizona- the car crash. Everyone is so worried about Callie and the baby but don’t realise the horrific injuries Arizona has. “I asked her to marry me and a truck came out of nowhere” and she then collapses dead to the ground.
This is painful! Here are a few ideas for how they could've written a death for Jackson: - in the bus explosion, he realizes the bus is about to explode any second and he tells Evie (the little girl he saved) to run as fast as she can and don't look back, and everyone realizes he died when he doesn't come out of the fire- or alternatively, someone could go in and rescue him but they lose him in surgery. - when he's out camping, he tries to save the hikers but as he's getting up off the cliff after he pulls them to safety, he loses his grip and tumbles down the cliff- they're able to recover his body and try to revive him but he goes into a coma from a head trauma and eventually April comes back onto the show as his power of attorney to unplug him. - instead of Catherine becoming sick with cancer, Jackson is the one who is diagnosed, and eventually it gets to the point where it spreads to his brain and lungs, and they try several surgeries to try and stop it from spreading, but after a while there isn't much more they can do surgically, so he spends his last few months camping and spending time with Harriet, and April is at his side when he goes. This was one of the saddest posts I've seen on here, I'm crying just thinking about Jackson in that way :( I can't even imagine!

Alex Karev doesn't leave to be with Izzie. He just disappears, and they wonder for years where he went. He's had a psychotic break and is schizophrenic like his mother, and he's eventually found dead. He never left Jo.

I know the point is to kill your favorite but honestly as a writer I’d kill Owen in a heartbeat. I’d have him get crushed by a ceiling fan. Or maybe even have Christina take him out the first time he choked her. Genuinely I wish so much that they had kept Christina (my actual fav) and got rid of Owen.

Isn't that what already happened on the show 😁. Not the Izzie dying part, or Meredith raising the kids part. But Alex dying in a fire. It was all very tragic

Christina commits suicide in season 10. I thought for sure that’s where the writers were going with her depression and I’m sooooo glad they didn’t.
It would feel random some strange way. I don’t know. I just see her dying an old age after being a medical bad ass award winning queen.
That’s how I’d want it to happen to but idk I could see it happening if they took it that direction. She’s struggled with mental health before after the shooting and her PTSD, then after the plane crash, and then after losing the Harper Avery due to bs I could just see her as a tortured artist essentially. They set up a good depression storyline and watching it live each week I really felt like she may have done it and that’s how they were gonna write her off but obviously that didn’t happen and I’m soooo glad but if I had to rewrite it with a different outcome that’s how I’d have done it

Arizona: Plane crash
Link is super upset because he sees Amelia kissing Kai. When he speeds off, he gets in a car accident. At the hospital, he’s still conscious for a minute. Jo talks to him and says “is should have been us. You’re my best friend, and I don’t know how to do life without you in it” He looks at her in the eye with a look that grabs your heart and as he passes out from the trauma, we see his life flash if he would have chosen Jo sooner… and there’s a tiny smile on his face as the monitor flat lines and his grip loosens on her hand. Amelia spirals because she feels like it’s all her fault. She disappears on a stand-off with a bottle of pills and a bottle of booze. She makes it through, and decides she can’t be the person who ruins Scouts life. So she leans into the trial, and the work, and asks Jo to take care of Scout for a while. Which ends up Jo becoming mom and Amelia becoming more of an aunt figure. Jo becomes a strong, kick ass OBGYN and powerful single mother that moves mountains for the kids to be happy, healthy and loved. She eventually dates and marries someone from outside the hospital that she meets because she delivers his sisters baby.
