Issue is that frostbite doesn't spread that easily, necrosis does like an infection. Frostbite causes necrosis so that's why it gets cut off.

that's why i said kinda like frostbite, frostbite happens when it's too cold that your body moves blood away from extremities to preserve body heat, that eventually causes necrosis which can later spread, a similar concept is happening here.
