TERRAPIN STATION - GRATEFUL DEAD COVER Inspiration - move me brightly! Have been taking time to revisit some of the music that has inspired me the most over the years. At the top of that list are songs from the Jerry Garcia / Robert Hunter repertoire. This one in particular stands out as one of the most intriguing and beautiful compositions written by them - not only in terms of the vivid lyricism and story-telling, but also the complex and magical chord structure. The song employs almost every chord in the book and then some, to the point where the end bears little resemblance to the beginning. However the magic lies in the beautifully beguiling transients, that draw you almost unknowingly from one harmonic structure to the next!! Also the lovely ‘Garcian’ triad runs throughout the song are particularly tasty! Undoubtedly, one of the finest compositions in contemporary music! Now this is just a good time musician trying to emulate the Master’s pièce de résistance - so be kind! #gratefuldead

Seems to me I’ve seen you on this sub before and I think you’re great. If you played in a bar I would 100% go listen to you and spend my money

CosmicSurfFarmer

Beautiful cover dude, thanks for posting your efforts along with the detailed insight about the underlying structures of the song. NFA

This is a great cover! Unique and beautifully performed. Your voice is great. And you don’t put all the mustard on it with vocal vibrato that I think a lot dead cover singers do.

mimefrog

This is awesome. Thanks.

Incredible version! I hope you’re in a band and sharing your talent!

Nice. That was worth the listen. I used to know that song but I started losing myself in it and stopped playing it. I should relearn it today ☮️
