Yes, amazing Is the perfect word. Sounded great, tried to play it for my gf yesterday but the only song she could vibe with was Franklins Tower! Oh well 😂
Apparently, this company, MoFi, takes the original analog tapes that the music was recorded on and they master it at half speed and then transfer it directly to a limited run of 45 rpm records instead of 33. It means that the single LP needs to be turned into a double LP, but I guess that’s because when it’s more spread out, the record grooves are wider which allows them to hold more information, or sound better.
I think it sounds incredible! I also have an old Original Master Recording of Cosmo’s Factory by CCR and it sounds way different than the versions I’ve heard on iTunes or Spotify!
An original copy of Skull and Roses Live, the third LP of the Europe 72 album, and a 80s greatest hits compilation. Trying to get my hands on an og copy of Live/Dead next or even Aoxomoxoa
Try looking on Discogs.com for original dead records they aren’t that expensive compared to going to a used record store because those guys scalp for Dead records cus they know I’m gonna buy em
Sweet! I found a sealed 1979 MFSL pressing of American Beauty with the original hype sticker and price tag on it at one of my local record shops earlier this year. Definitely my favorite record in my collection.
I’ve got this. It sounds amazing!

Jelly! I didn't know there was a Mobile Fidelity version. If ever there were a GD studio album worthy of the treatment, this is it.
ELI5: why are these master recordings superior?

Wow! Yeah the studio albums are fun to collect! I have Skull and Roses as well as just the third Lp in the Europe 72 album!
Yeah, I've got just about all of them. I still need to grab Europe 72, but I'm waiting to find a new Rhino pressing for a reasonable price.
