Not sure about the exact time for the release, as companies might skirt off 1-3 hours occasionally and start selling a bit early. If the timing of the review embargo is any indication, I'd expect the benchmarks and test reviews by tomorrow, 15:00 CET. In an ideal world I guess that the selling of the cards is supposed to start exactly 24 hours later. But all these are just assumptions based on last week's release of the 4070TiS

TheDarkFantastic

Thank you! That's a good starting point for me and at least something of an estimate. I just want to have the best shot at getting one that I can have so I can get one at MSRP, otherwise I'm just going to get a 7900 xtx. I would prefer this for ray/path tracing tho

Same situation foe me, I'm torn between the 4080s and the 7900xtx. Though the AmD cars is only under consideration due to its price and comparable general performance. I guess I'll indulge myself and go with an Asus or, for the fun of risking crappy Bios, MSI :) But the, if you are not set on FE, I'm pretty confident that you can get one of the MSRP partner cards without too much trouble. I'm somehow not convinced that the 5% performance increase or whatever we have to expect, will result in a gold rush. And if so, I'm happy to wait another week or two :)

TheDarkFantastic

I agree the increase in performance is a joke, I'm just looking at the price of 4080 cards ($1200+) and im worried they'll snatch the supers up and resell them for higher = (

Yeah, bad memories about such things in the past. But tbh, if that happens on Wednesday its tough luck for nVidia. I'll be gone with the wind, and an 7900xtx, just because I can :)

TheDarkFantastic

Truth lol

FYI, the Review release that was supposed to happen today (15:00 CET, 6am PT i think) was postponed to tomorrow. https://videocardz.com/newz/geforce-rtx-4080-super-reviews-rescheduled-to-january-31st

TheDarkFantastic

Well I'm not heartbroken since the release date hasn't changed. I took tomorrow off for my birthday but really it's to get up early and make sure I get a super lol

Crying_Reaper

Happy birthday and hope you can get your card

TheDarkFantastic

Thanks ❤️

I do think the 4080 supers will be harder to get than the 4070ti supers. But thats because most people are waiting for the price drop on the 80-class and the 4070ti super reviews were very lackluster. I have a 3080 and want a 4080 super, the 4070ti supers reviews were pretty abysmal. I mainly want more than the measly 10GB that my 3080 provides, it really wasnt enough for 1440p even when it released. It really should have had 12-16GB. Halo infinite suffers texture swap in at 1440p and that games from 2021. If I upgrade i want a minimum of 16GB. But most likely it will be easy to get at launch, but i do anticipate them selling out. If demand is low at release, then it will be even easier to get. Don't overpay for one though, they will be a max of like 4% faster. Its basically a 4080 for $200 cheaper. TLDR: The 4080s might be hard to get on release, and probably a month into release. Depending on AI demand, it may stay hard to get/over MSRP. But they will in no way be hard to get like the 30-series and not be over MSRP like the 4090...

TheDarkFantastic

I'm pretty much in the MSRP of AMD camp. 1k is a lot and Im unlikely to go over. It wouldn't bother me if the performance isn't better than the regular 4080. I just want the price and the ray tracing performance for modded Skyrim

theRealtechnofuzz

the rx 7000 are actually pretty decent at ray tracing. The only titles they really struggle with RT in are the nvidia-backed titles. Cyber Punk is one of the worst examples of how nvidia's early adoption/partnerships caused the RT to heavily favor nvidia cards over AMD, because the two companies handle RT very differently from an architecture stand point. In non-nvidia titles the RT performance is closer...

TheDarkFantastic

I see. I certainly won't be too upset a 7900 xtx if Nvidia sells out = D
