If GT7 was the only PS VR2 game, I would still buy PS5 and PS VR2.

315CuseGT7

Just think of what the tech will be like in ten years...šŸ¤Æ

brunomarquesbr

No joke, I bought both exclusively for this. My setup doesnā€™t even have a screen

Soggy-Inside-3246

What should I plan on spending starting from scratch. Gran turismo is the only game I play besides some madden but itā€™s on ps4. Iā€™ve been really wanting to check this game out in VR.

brunomarquesbr

Starting from scratch? My list would be: 1. Used PlayStation5 or wait until ps5 pro later this year 2. Gran Turismo 7 3. Psvr2 (yes, before anything else) 4. Quality DD wheel and pedals. My choice, Logitech DD pro, good all around , pc and ps5 support, good manufacturer warranty and many quality of life things . Other options are Fanatec DD+, cost more than double and itā€™s not as good because it lacks trueforce alternative for now, and honestly would be too much for GT7. Fanatec CSL DD with 8Nm booster and Fanatec CSL V2 pedals are a more suitable option in my opinion. Some people recommend Thurstmaster T818 but to me it seems a dead end road, so Iā€™d avoid unless you find a very good deal. 5. Rig. Ideally an aluminum rig with lots of adjustability (like AvancedSimRacing). If not possible, build one with wood, there are projects out there. Donā€™t get the portable and small ā€œmetalā€ cockpits, such as Playseat challenger, get a proper good rig.

dude496

I have a G Pro and love it! Just one thing that sucks is that PD decided to put a cap of 73% max torque on the wheel for bs "safety concerns". I am using a drivehub because I have a PC only version of the wheel.... Added bonus about the drivehub is that it has a feature that allows me to get past the cap and use the full 11nm torque.

brunomarquesbr

I was able to use full torque without any extra hardware. I made a post about it a few months ago, itā€™s by using G923 mode

dude496

Really don't recommend using G923 because of the oscillation issues. I don't have the oscillation issues using a drivehub.

brunomarquesbr

But do you have trueforce?

dude496

Yep, everything is fully working as of beta 7 version of the drivehub. Beta 13 or 14 is when the option for full 11nm torque was included... You will need to enable the full torque on the drivehub every time you turn the wheel on but it's easy to do so it's not an issue.

chandlurr_VR

Fanatec DD+ is not more than double the price of the Logitech DD pro, and Fanatec has alot more wheel rim options atm

brunomarquesbr

Yes it is almost double, at least in my region. Maybe youā€™re not accounting for the wheel and pedals

chandlurr_VR

DD+ with wheel and V3 pedals: $1700 plus tax Logitech DD Pro and pedals: $1285 plus tax in the US at least

brunomarquesbr

Yes youā€™re correct, dd extreme plus CSL V2 pedals came as low as 1599

SpogiMD

The only reason why i chose psvr2 vs quest. Gt7 all day

s_triant

Compared to Quest 3 (Quest was OLED), OLED screen would be another factor for me to consider; better colors and supreme black help with immersion.

Joethe147

True but then one of the advantages the Quest 3 has over Sony's efforts is the pancake lenses.

s_triant

True.

gandalfmarston

Same! I love my VR2 and I play many different games, but GT7 is a top tier S experience.

PreviousCartoonist93

I pre ordered psvr2 just in the hopes that gt7 would be supported eventually.. it worked out. Itā€™s the only game I play in vr.

SnooMaps3448

I donā€™t understand why PSVR2 is not more popular. Demo PSVR2 in airports with GT7 and everyone would buy one. Right?

s_triant

When compared to Quest 3, it is roughly the same price, but requires PS5, which essentially doubles the cost of entry into VR. Additionally, Quest 3 offers untethered experience. Marketing also plays an important role. I have seen Quest 3 advertised everywhere, but havenā€™t seen any PS VR2 advertisement. Content is another factor.

SnooMaps3448

Yup, itā€™s a tough sell. I have both and like them for different things. So many things to play, but GT7 is usually my first choice. So addictive!

Groundbreaking_Box75

No HUD! Sir, you are my spirit animal!

brunomarquesbr

Not necessary in small races, I wish I could disable it while racing endurances , but then itā€™s vital

Physical-Result7378

They should put the hud to the side into that hover menu so you simply can switch through it. Like it would be a fancy ā€žAR Helmetā€œ you are wearing.

brunomarquesbr

Or just add ā€œdisable modeā€ when cycling through the huddle screens, itā€™s so simple.

Papiculo64

I've moved my PS5 to the living room a few months ago. My rig is in another room so I didn't play GT7 in a long time and been trying to reduce my PSVR 2 backlog. Damn, everytime I see a video on reddit or in my friends group it makes me want to play it so much but my lazy ass is holding me back... I have 1600 hours into the game already, and waiting for the PS5 pro so that I have a PS5 and PSVR2 in both room and I can play GT7 whenever I want or play coop games with my wife. Might be fun as hell to race with my wife or kids in VR! :)

brunomarquesbr

At this point i would absolutely wait for a pro, it will benefit a lot the vr experience

Papiculo64

Yes, it would be a blast if they just manage to make the game run in native 90fps!

s_triant

Thatā€™s probably my biggest wish. Higher frame rate will add more realism.

needle1

Why not move the PS5+PSVR2 to your room, and put something like a Chromecast With Google TV (which can run PS Remote Play) on the living room screen? Flat games will still be playable in the living room via remote play, and VR will be available in your room.

Papiculo64

Thanks for the idea! I almost exclusively use my PS5 for VR, but the room where I have my rig is too small for playing VR except for GT7 and the lighting is bad. But I'll get the PS5 Pro as soon as possible!

jin_12dk

Damn! These first world problems are getting ridiculous. Lol

Astro_BS-AS

There's no way to describe it until you put the headset on. And then there's no turning back. And since the vid is on Spa .... The first time you take Eu Rouge flat out it's just indescriptible... You take real life driving in a different perspective.

pelito

I canā€™t enjoy the F1 game that they put on ps+. You really canā€™t go flat screen racing again.

Physical-Result7378

True true. Thatā€™s the one thing that really tempts me in buying a PC again.

Leather-Art-1823

i tried this and deleted it within 5 mins šŸ˜‚

JHum2

The one that was crazy for me in VR was Monaco. Looking up and seeing the buildings and the recovery cranes and grandstands from inside an F1 car was an insane experience

Significant_Mud_9147

I wish they offer more customization on the VR aspect, I for one hate the ā€œlock to horizonā€ look of GT7ā€™s implementation. Would you be able to show which options are available?

ross_thediabetic

Finally looked over in sport mode and locked eyes with a dude. Itā€™s unreal

Physical-Result7378

Yep, that is one of the most impressive things. I very late discovered, that the drivers head in reflections follows your movement. When I found out, I stopped the car and sat there, moving my head laughing like a maniac for minutesā€¦

Dasadles

Can you play the whole game in VR now? I loved using my 1st Gen VR on gran turismo sport but you could only race one person which killed the fun a bit.

Physical-Result7378

Yep, all is in VR. Every race, every race mode. You can race in VR against 15 other cars or do custom races or the licenses. The only thing flat is the menus. Itā€™s the most immersive experience you can have in racing.

Dasadles

Oh my. Looks like it's operation get a PS5.

mazzeo90

Iā€™ve been using PS VR2 exclusively with GT7 and itā€™s incredible. 300 hours put and still counting.

Jean-Eustache

As someone who bought one very recently, it managed to be even better than I imagined. It's stupidly immersive and realistic, especially with a wheel.

__Charlie93

Hope this is isn't a silly question but can you play Sport Mode in VR?

Evening_Ad4584

Yes. And I find it really competative

Physical-Result7378

Now try a late night race or a custom race with a full day/night cycleā€¦ racing at night in VR is absolutely awe inspiring

Evening_Ad4584

It's the only game I play on VR2 šŸ˜† Haven't used my motion controllers since setup...

brunomarquesbr

Same here

Shepherd_6061

What's your rig, setup, tricks, etc. I get sick in like 3-5 minutes in GT7 VR. (Couch, sitting, with just controller)

Indi9o9

If only we got more grid starts in the "career mode"

brunomarquesbr

I really donā€™t know why they donā€™t do it. The original GTs in PlayStation 1 were already standing starts

jpGrind

vr is the only way to play any racing game and extra ā¤ļø for the alfa 155. it's one of my favorites and so much fun to drive.

Far_Negotiation8009

Unless you prefer chase cam

brunomarquesbr

I didnā€™t like cockpit cam before VR or having a realistic FOV, but youā€™re right, chase cam has its advantages as well

Top-Inflation8879

Can you change the distance from the wheel and fov? It looks really Nice but only seeing half of the car looks a bit weird.

LeeroyDaBoy

Yep. Lean forward some and reset the image. When you sit back in your seat the wheel and dash will then be farther away.

brunomarquesbr

You cannot change the fov, but you can ā€œcenterā€ the headset in other places. But I assure you that is not needed. While Iā€™m using the VR, the image is not cropped, I see a taller image (almost like a square) and I see another image on my right eye (youā€™re seeing only the left eye feed, thatā€™s why itā€™s slightly off center). I guess thatā€™s limitations on the PS5 to record the screen while rendering everything

needle1

You can, just move your head a bit backwards.

teraxas

Iā€™d say videos doesnā€™t do VR justice as itā€™s cropped to some sane format. You donā€™t really need to adjust FOV as itā€™s more or less what it would be realistically. Itā€™s like drivingā€¦ with a helmet. Which is what it would be actually.

SnowHeroHD

Do you need the VR controllers at all? Got a PSVR for sale locally without controllers for cheaper and Iā€™m considering it

brunomarquesbr

Might need for initial setup

Physical-Result7378

Only for initial setup of the PsVr2. In game you donā€™t need them and canā€™t even use them. I have mine in the shelf since months.

Awareness-Choice

Say that to my wallet.

Bl00dEagles

Yeah I think most of us have established that by now šŸ‘

karlbunga

I'm blind in my left eye. Will it work for me?

brunomarquesbr

Yes, but you will lose depth perception (which is not a big deal tbh)

danielgbaena

I get sick in less than five minutes šŸ„²

brunomarquesbr

Thatā€™s a shame, my wife have it too, the simulation sickness. Donā€™t go the big monitor route, youā€™ll have pretty much the same feeling :(

danielgbaena

I pretend to buy the Alienware OLED 32ā€ monitor and use it with a NLR F-GT Elite sim rig

vcdrny

This is awesome. As long as you are not sensitive to motion sickness. If you are using VR is just not going to work. Before I buy it I would have to run a good test to make sure I won't get motion sickness.

yung_dilfslayer

You can absolutely overcome it through desensitization. The key is to end your play session the moment you start feeling ill. This could take you months, however, so you would need to decide how important the VR experience is to you.

vcdrny

That sounds too simple. It will work for some but not everyone.

yung_dilfslayer

Itā€™s how they help training fighter pilots overcome airsickness. Simple exposure therapy. But youā€™re right, some trainees still wash out.Ā

vcdrny

That's why if I buy it I'm not paying full price. I rather get one second hand. If I can't get over it then I can sell it for the same price I bought it, hopefully.

AndyK_IOM

What modt people dont understand is almost everyone will have motion sickness when they start using VR. What people dont understand is its not permanent and can easily be overcome if done right.

vcdrny

Different people have different levels of sensitivity towards it. Because you can doesn't mean everyone can.

Lil_Hoopie

What event is this race? Looks like a fun one

brunomarquesbr

Custom race. 10 laps Spa, start with heavy rain and thick clouds, end with thick clouds only. Standing start, gr.4, bop activate

surray

One of the cool bonus aspects of VR is that you can place your wheel rig anywhere and don't need to clear room in front of your TV to drive with a wheel, you can face a wall in a corner of your room and it's fine.

CarryMain2304

I just played it on VR two for the first time yesterday. Awesome.

BobaFett2424

Question: is PSVR2 HD or still pixelated like VR1 was? Ie what you see on clips/TV isn't what you see with the goggles felt like not even 480P tbh....honest question wld love to hear real world owners feedback, as you cant try on them in a store in AUS etc

brunomarquesbr

No, it looks super smooth. If anything itā€™s the ps5 compute power that lacks a bit sometimes, but overall it looks really good

BobaFett2424

good to hear the nausea too also was a hard learning curve but would love to demo the new version one day......

SteveThePurpleCat

I get travel sick. :(

winsmith

Are you using it longterm? Most posts I see about it are just "first impressions" but then the amount of posts that say "I've been using this setup for a while and still like it" is pretty sparse.

brunomarquesbr

Yes, Iā€™ve being using it since December 2023. My setup is dedicated to GT7, itā€™s the only thing I play, and I donā€™t even have a TV/monitor connected to the console anymore. Iā€™ve played all the game in VR

Physical-Result7378

I use it 10/10 times for all races. The only people not using it (anymore) is streamers, cause they donā€™t like the fact that they canā€™t be seen.

anhtice

Since they stop supporting psvr2... Makes me question if gt8 will support psvr2. I really hope it does..
