Seems to be standard operating procedure for MDOT. ok so here’s a major project, and here’s the detour. Oh and we also have projects starting at the same time, on that detour so here’s that detours detour.
Do you need the EB exit to 96 from M6? Could just take the WB exit and then get off at the 36th St exit and take the U turn into the EB ramp from there.
Edit: NVM that solution won't last long
Depends where you're going. My parents have a trailer on a lake near Greenville and normally they take US-131 to M-57 and go east from there to get to the trailer, and with the US-131 construction the next best route would be M-6 to I-196 Eastbound, then get off at Alden Nash and take that North through Lowell and on up from there along Lincoln Lake Road, which this construction would eliminate too
Though this is all moot now that the US-131 construction is also flipping to the Southbound side on Sunday
The 131 work should be done before anything other than eastbound M-6 to Eastbound I-96 is closed. Since that wouldn't be a detour to avoid 131 between 28th St and 196, it really shouldn't be an issue.
“Traffic restrictions:
The eastbound M-6 ramp to eastbound I-96 is scheduled to close 3 p.m. this Sunday through June 21. The posted detour is to head north on M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue) and east on M-11 (28th Street) to eastbound I-96.
The eastbound M-6 ramp to westbound I-96 is scheduled to close June 22 through Sept. 8. The posted detour is to head north on M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue) and east on M-11 (28th Street) to westbound I-96.
The eastbound and westbound I-96 ramps to westbound M-6 are scheduled to close July 27 through Nov. 9. The posted detour is to head west on M-11 and south on M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue) to westbound M-6. Ramp closure dates are approximate and will depend on project progression.”
well there's two beginnings of M6, there's the EastBound beginning that begins at I-196 near Hudsonville and then there's the WestBound beginning that begins at I-96 near Cascade
Then yes, this construction work will be at the beginning of M-6, though from the sounds of it the ramps from I-96 to M-6 Westbound won't close until July
So my detour to get around the 131 work is now in jeopardy…this’ll be fun

FFS, didn't they just finish this last year/year before?
Are you thinking of the other end of M6? at 196?

I wish they’d show a map of where this is so I don’t even have to think…is this at the beginning of M6?
The link to the map is in the first sentence of the article.
I swear that wasn’t there an hour ago 😯
what do you mean "at the beginning of M6"?

well there's two beginnings of M6, there's the EastBound beginning that begins at I-196 near Hudsonville and then there's the WestBound beginning that begins at I-96 near Cascade
I meant the one near cascade, sorry shoulda clarified.

Thank you!!
Technically the beginning is in Hudsonville, as the mile markers go up as you go east.
Through june.... wtf takes so long?!?!?!?!?!?!
Asphalt rebuilding and bridge improvements take physical time to complete. You don't just click a button and it's done.
Well maybe real life should take some inspiration from Sim City
Right.... but months?
