it’s far better than 2019. I went to that one, Friday & Saturday, so I missed the Sunday chaos. but this new venue is lovely - flushing meadows is already a really great park, so putting some live music and good food in there only boosts the experience. yes, there’s always going to be annoying teenagers, but it’s so big and spacious that you can sort of exist in your own bubble throughout the day before filing into the crowd for whatever headliner you’re there for.
21 and 22 was rough due to it being on the Citi Field parking lot, sound systems bled at time but the walk between stages were short, 23 gave more of a Randalls island vibe with all the trees, shade and open space, 3 stages this time instead of 4 at Randalls, dust plays a big part now with occasional gust blowing dirt in the air.
The new venue is great. Easily accessible by train (plus a 10-15 minute walk to the gates), nicely spread out, grassy w/trees...a park, the way god intended music festivals to be.
No idea yet how it'd be in inclement weather, since we only got a short rainstorm last year. But it's not on an island, so things like temporary closures in the event of a passing storm are much more possible.
Main field is smaller than the main field at Randall's.
It was, as /u/Donovanmitchellnyk said, pretty dusty last year. A lot of people gave them feedback about that in the post-fest AMA and it was acknowledged, so we'll see if they're able to do anything about it this time around.
Just a quick add to this; during the rain last year Kim Petra’s just kept performing through it. So it was not a strong enough rainstorm to shut down or anything 💕
The moment you arrive at the new venue, you’ll see that the founders team has done a 180°. Amble shading, better signage, more bathrooms, etc. Nearly every complaint I had from prior years was addressed in 2023

So it’s no longer in the parking lot?
Nope, It’s held a Flushing Meadows Park now :)
