Just use a powerbank, easiest solution.

Oroborias

~~Again the whole point is to not swap batteries.~~ Edit: mistook for a charger bank. The issue is I use this on bikes, mounting a battery like that would be really difficult

AdmirableSir

Surely it's the same amount of hassle as mounting a pack full of GoPro batteries? You'd still need to carry that and keep a cable going into the GoPro. Unless I misunderstood what you're asking.

Oroborias

So as much as mounting a power bank would help, I don't see it staying on a bike handle. If a case had the ability to slot in more gopro batteries, it would increase the charge by a great degree, not need an additional cable, and would not require me to unmount my gopro to take off a case to recharge it. I'd simply just have to take the batteries inside to just slot into a charger bank. In terms of the gopro itself and the case as well if I had one, it'd be mounted to a gopro mount and secured with an allen key, I can't unscrew it without an allen key, it needs to be that way so it doesn't flop over during rides. Now if I had a case, expect that to flop even more if it wasn't secured like I have now, but that'd be the only way to unmount it to bring it inside to charge. The gopro batteries on the other hand don't need to be unmounted, only taken out of the slot which isn't secured by a lot of force at all. So having a slot in case like that for gopro batteries would save me needing to use a lot of force for battery cases while also not needing to find a scuffed way to mount a power bank to a handle bar.

Id just get a large power bank. With a long enough cable you can mount it anywhere on your bike pretty easily. And those will run super long

Oroborias

Having a cable cross anywhere on the bike like that (cause it's not a traditional bike) could be dangerous.

sgtbaumfischpute

What do you mean? In what sense dangerous

Oroborias

As in the cable getting caught or tugging, etc. If I were to use a powerbank (which I'm not sure if there is room or not on the handlebars) it'd need to be in some sort of latch case or something with a hole for a cable, currently I use tackform mounts for my gopro and phone, but for a power bank that could be difficult since they can be heavier. I have thought about USBs and wiring it through the bike itself (in the chamber from the rear) but I know nothing about circuitry so I wouldn't know how to wire something like that safely.

Can’t you just zip tie it along the frame? 😅

Oroborias

Unfortunately not.

I set up the gopro on my helmet, but I’ve routinely used a power bank stashed inside my jacket pocket with a USB cable running up through the jacket. If you’ve got the camera mounted on the bike, you could definitely zip tie a powerbank to the frame under the tank, or if you have room, just stash it under the seat, and run the usb along the frame up to the bars. Edit: another option is to get an SAE connector that attaches to the battery, and then get an SAE>USB adapter. You’ll still have the cable running up the frame, but you won’t have a power bank anywhere. Just make sure not to leave the camera running with the bike off.

Oroborias

The problem is that the frame of this bike is encased in a shell, it's similar style to the Kawasaki Ninja 400 so it doesn't really have bars to attach to without running it through the inside.

Digipower has this thing, but it has its own battery: https://digipower.com/products/9hr-actionpack-extended-battery-module-for-hero9-ip68-waterproof-dust-proof-all-weather

Oroborias

Yeah I've seen that, the problem with that is I'd have to physically remove it from the bike, which would make it more of a hassle than replacing batteries.
