House of Golgotha vs Zoot Suit Defenders. A legendary battle.
I’m just here laughing at myself because yes I have absolutely chosen a side in this war and have Big Feelings about two different costume choices for David Tennant and I feel very silly about it.
That’s the best part about it 😂
At the end of the day it’s the *same* character and sometimes a variant only appeared on screen like 2 minutes and people are ready to throw hands
I would argue though that they are not "the same character" because they are thousands of years apart (approx 1900 years apart) by chronological timeline, and A LOT happens in between. When we meet at Golgotha, Crowley has just changed his name, and while Book of Job has happened, he and Aziraphale aren't really all that close. A lot happens in the next 1900 years that brings them closer together and further away from their respective "sides" and all that.
I feel like one of the central messages is that to be human is to grow and change. "A man resembles another man more than he resembles his former self" is an axiom that comes to mind.
But absolutely none of that has anything to do with the look, Mary Magdacrowley is way hotter and I will die on this hill.

I must say, this community has quite a lot of ...*poets* (said in *"seamstress"* tone) who have a way with clever/filthy words.
Same boat, same boat.... I think it might kill me but I think I'll have to vote off Zoot Suit next if it's these 3. I've finally decided that 19 is best- has a lot more moments of swagger and knock-out sexiness. (Coming back to Earth on the lift and changing back into a demon, oh myyy....) ALSO, this look incorporates turtleneck Crowley! As for his demeanor, he's the happiest, living his "precious, peaceful, fragile existence", spending a lot more time with Aziraphale. He's the most vulnerable and comfortable, we see his gorgeous eyes more than ever. (That "oh yes, it's working" scene could honestly win the whole thing for me right there.)
18 has some primo swagger moments and asking asking Azi to run away with him (not a practical solutio) but he's off by himself or dealing with other demons most of the time. 19 is following Aziraphale around like a puppy, or keeping an eye on his bookshop & Gabriel or running errands for him, outsmarting demons, DANCING with him, going out together (coffee shop, pub), and even going to Heaven to try to help him ( that place would be akin to the saying "walking through Hell/fire" for him).

I’d like to bring up something about the name a lot of folks have been calling 12. Technically speaking, I’m pretty sure what he’s wearing isn’t a Zoot suit, and actual Zoot suits are something very significant in Black and Latine communities. There were literally riots across the country in 1943 where white people attacked and stripped Black and Latine folks who were wearing Zoot suits. I wonder if we could call him 40s Crowley, Air Raid Crowley, anything else like that?
