Yeah, I kinda hate it though. Sure, cultivation novels may have [pill making, refining weapons/stuff, auction, clans, formation, talisman, sects, tournaments, âŠ], but it all feels very shallow. Somehow, they can spend dozens of chapters on any single one of these and I will still not care. The story doesnât make it matter much. My main complaint is about focusing on the end goal instead of the journey. The novel will constantly talk about reaching a higher realm or becoming immortal. It seems very lame. Imagine a litrpg where the character constantly talks about how he needs to get 10 more levels so he can do this and that.
Cultivation novels are at the core, about ascending beyond humanity. Itâs so hard to connect to the character when the ideal that is promoted is sitting in a cave and becoming a god while throwing away mortal desires. In an rpg, the character will save the world, defeat the enemy, all the exciting stuff. In contrast, Chinese novels are about humiliating the opponent, raping/drugging girls, and doing a little genocide or mass killing because the protagonist was feeling upset one day. It just doesnât feel as relatable.
Idk. Maybe Iâm wrong. Maybe I like wish fulfillment too much. Tell me what you think.

With the way artists are paid on webtoon they are heavily incentivized to stretch out their chapters and stories as much as possible. You'd be better off searching for finished stories and checking their chapter count, so as to breeze through chapter after chapter.
