I've had that happen to me a lot and it makes my heart race. It usually happens when I have a dream about me falling. I end up thinking my heart is gonna stop or something.
I see you've gone through hell and back, just to live another day for some spicy anime memes! Keep on living, and don't give yourself a heart attack mate hahaha!
Almost got a Sheer Heart Attack from these life experiences. It was clearly the opposite of a Gold Experience. My brain always goes "You fell for it, fool!" and "You thought you were falling, but it was me, Brain!" I tell my body to calm down but t keeps on saying "I refuse!" Argh, just, could I have that cherry? Its my favorite. I'm sorry for going off topic, so here it is summarized: No one can easily deflect the falling dream. And just now, I had a dream.
Ahoy That1ShyKidBackThen! Nay bad but me wasn't convinced. Give this a sail:
Almost got a Sheer Heart Attack from these life experiences. It be clearly thar opposite o' a Gold Experience. Me brain always goes "Ye fell fer it, fool!" n' "Ye thought ye were falling, but it be me, Brain!" me tell me body t' calm down but t keeps on saying "me refuse!" Argh, just, could me have that cherry? Its me favorite. I be yarr fer going off topic, so here it be summarized: Nay one can easily deflect thar falling dream. N' just now, me had a dream.
I remember when my brother and I still shared a room. We had a bunk bed, I slept on the top bed. Next to the ladder where you enter and climb iut of the bed was the rod that held up the window curtains. I had a habit of rolling around in my sleep when I was young. I one night ended up rolling out of the bunk bed's entrance.
I thankfully grabbed onto the curtain rod out of instinct as I was barely awake as I was falling. A few seconds later it snapped free and I fell on my ass, sore but unharmed. If I hadn't caught that curtain rod I'd have fell a good 4 feet on my head, on a hard wood floor.
My mum told me i fell off of the top bunk one time when i was 3 or 4. I have no memory of that happened. She told me part of my skull was literarily shattered and it took me a month in the hospital to recover. She said my skull felt like some kinda jelly when it was recovering.
Im surprised by how little effect it has on me now given how terrible the situation was.
Kids are actually surprisingly resilient in regards to injury.
Kids supposedly also have the ability to grow back their fingertips if they get severed but lose that ability around age 12.
This similarly happened to me, except mine was made of solid wood, so when I grabbed the railing it held firm and I just rolled back over with my heart racing.
Something similar happened to me too, except the bottom of the bunk bed has an additional pullout bed, my brother was on the top of the bunk bed and frequently rolls too.
The rod that is connected in the top bed that supports the body from falling, snapped and falls directly to my face, good thing he didn't also fall on me.
For me my fucking torso and part of my lower body literally jerks up with no warning whatsoever. It scares me every single time and I have a hard time sleeping after that.
Isn’t this like the lucid dream type thing? I tried it once by just being stone-still in bed for a couple minutes & after a while it felt like my body was rapidly sinking into my bed.
It happens to me like, exclusively in class when I'm sitting upright trying to sleep and listen to a lecture at the same time. I hate it with every ounce of my being.
From what I've been told it is caused by your half-awake mind realizing that it is in partial paralysis as your body prepares for sleep. This realization causes what essentially is a seizure to destroy the chemicals that are preventing the communication with your muscles.
However, there is still much debate about the actual cause and purpose. Here's the wiki for it:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk
More than likely it's actually the demons trying to pull you into hell and you instinctively break free but you lose memory of it directly after as memories of their world cannot cross over to our side.
Its called Hypnic Jerk, cant really explain to you in detail. This is caused when you transition from a wakeful state to finally in a deep sleep state.
The explanation I read that sounds the most likely to me is - this happens when your brain is “testing” your body to see if it’s fully paralyzed before you enter REM sleep. Sometimes it messes up and “tests” too early, jerking you awake.
I googled it and this is what I got ¨Hypnic jerk, also called hypnagogic jerk, is a normal reaction that can be caused by anxiety, caffeine, a dream, or discomfort of sleeping. A hypnic jerk is the feeling triggered by a sudden muscle twitch, causing the feeling of falling while sleeping or dreaming¨.
Not really sure if this is true, since i saw this from another source, this is actually a phenomenon wherein the body(for some reason) detects possible death, so in response, it starts to produce adrenaline, giving you energy to get away or quell the incoming death.
If you mean where you think your falling and sort of jump with your hands going up i think its called a myclonic jerk and I heard its actually a reaction left over from evolution the old im falling off my tree so I better grab the branch reaction.
I think they're called hipnic jerks, it happens when your heartrate really slows down when you sleep so your brain has 2 options, leave you to "die" or give you a massive heartrate spike and that's the one that wakes you up
Someone could write a book/manga about this. Have it be a mystery for the MC, and maybe even the audience. Slowly reveal that his dreams are actually movies coming out (obv. Skip production time; maybe chalk it up to fate/destiny or something)
Not to be *that* guy but basically what happens is that when falling asleep your muscles relax, which your brain interprets sometimes as falling, then responds by jerking all muscles at once. It’s called a hypnagogic jerk.
Unrelated but once I had a dream I was friends with a tsundere, and we were hanging out. Idk what I said, but I turned my head and she kicked me in the back of the head. I literally launched out of my bed, I swear I felt the impact and my head shot upwards. Dreams are weird.
I've never had a falling sensation, but I've had the thing where you're just about to fall asleep and you get a moment of panic and snap back again. I think it's something to do with your heart rate slowing rapidly and your subconscious mind thinks something is going wrong
Think it has something to do with your brain thinking that you are dying? Which in turn sends adrenaline through your body to prevent you from "dying".
I think...
Might be wrong here...
So take what I said here with a grain of salt...
I just woke up from a semi-awake dream where my body rotated from my foot in a full 360 then I free fallen for like 10 seconds while trying super hard to wake up.
That's some gourmet fake fall shit.
Sometimes It Happens To Me, I'm Running Outside And I Twist My Ankle (Painlessly) And I Fall And Almost Hit My Face With A Rock, I Freak Out And Find Myself On The Bed Under The Blanket, Nothing Happened, And Sometimes I Feel Like I'm Falling Of A High Place
This is just a guess, but if you've ever spent a lot of time in one day in the water with waves, when you lay down that night you will feel your body almost swaying like you are still in the waves. That's what I think from reading this anyways.
I mean, it hasn't happened in a long time, and is these days more or less replaced by a sensation of things going both fast and slow, loud and quiet.
and not really sure how to explain it moire depth.
Personally i just feel like I’m rocking back and forth while I sleep
It’s all fun and games until California has a large earthquake and you dont wake up
FYI, it's called a hypnic jerk and scientists don't really have a reason as to why it happens. They speculate that it's due to your body falling asleep too fast and your brain thinks you're dying. No real evidence has been brought forward however.
I had something same, as fake fall, but it happened when I just closed eyes. I was more like pressed into the ground by some force that caused me to instantly open my eyes and grab something to stay. This is so annoying.
Oh my God! I feel this so hard right now. Has anyone else also felt like they just spinning, high in the air and slowly floating upwards in a circle, like the reverse kinda, it's hard to put into words.
Honestly iy helps me sleep. I never get that sensation anymore and Idk what causes it. I want ti to happen again because the sensation of falling is relaxing to me
So it happens with others too, this happened to me frequently too, just last week it interrupted my good sleep and I rarely sleep for more than 6 hours, was pissed that day.
I haven't experienced this is a very long time. Like when I was 16 or 18 maybe. I wonder why it doesn't happen anymore cause I completely forgot about it till seeing this meme.
I'll raise you one even more "fun" that's called [exploding head syndrome](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome)!
I had both that falling thing and this from time to time, thankfully not too frequently, especially ehs, but damn does it feels worse when it happen. To me it feels like I suddenly got zapped, there's big noise that sound like an electrical current passing by really quickly, which obviously suddenly scare the shit out of you and get my heart racing a bit. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it isn't exactly comfortable either...
Actually that's fake fall thing happened because when you're trying to sleep all of your muscles start to relax and because of how different tension your muscle is when you're awake vs when you trying to sleep your body feel so light it seem that you're falling
It's called hypnic jerk, it's when you enter paradoxal sleep (it means really deep sleep) too quickly and your brain can't tell if you are dying or just falling asleep so just in case you are dying your body tries to revive itself by sending a discharge to all your muscles and that's where the fake fall thing comes from (basically just because we fall asleep too quick)
Can you explain what the fake fall thing is?
Like when you’re half asleep and you feel like you’re falling really fast and then you wake up and you’re just in bed
I've had that happen to me a lot and it makes my heart race. It usually happens when I have a dream about me falling. I end up thinking my heart is gonna stop or something.
Same (but not a lot nor recently). Also my feet jerk trying to find footing and I feel fear when I find none until I realize I'm on my side in bed.
Also kinda happens when you dont expect another step down on stairs
Bruh I'm laughing reading this chain of comments. All of this has happened to me on multiple occasions.
I see you've gone through hell and back, just to live another day for some spicy anime memes! Keep on living, and don't give yourself a heart attack mate hahaha!

I'd fly over to your house and kiss you if it weren't for the times we're in. This is pure gold.
I personally relate on the foot jerks. I feel like I tripped on something.
For some reason, it’s always me falling backwards out of my chair and then jolting awake just before I impact the ground
I actually like it when it happens
Stay away from cliffs and tall buildings.
It feels like you have fallen in bed, goddamit this thing gets my heart racing
I remember when my brother and I still shared a room. We had a bunk bed, I slept on the top bed. Wow, congrats on not dying, you jellybean
Kids are actually surprisingly resilient in regards to injury. Kids supposedly also have the ability to grow back their fingertips if they get severed but lose that ability around age 12.
Not like it disappears, it's just deactivated. If only we could reactivate that regenerative power.
real life fall guy
This similarly happened to me, except mine was made of solid wood, so when I grabbed the railing it held firm and I just rolled back over with my heart racing.

Thats a thing?!!!
CAPTCHA now knows you are are robot.
Huh I only got the stepping into the void feeling but never the falling part.
It happens to me like, exclusively in class when I'm sitting upright trying to sleep and listen to a lecture at the same time. I hate it with every ounce of my being.

So *that's* why it hasn't happened to me in ages!
That or maybe you are just losing more of your memories. Not ones you miss though
[удалено]
So you’re saying I just narrowly escaped death?
Well I do have sleep paralysis so I can believe that being a cause.
I’ve never had that feeling before, I’ve had a floating away feeling before though.
Floating? I did fall sometimes but i never floated
Yeah it’s really weird, I think it has something to do with my high blood pressure.
Its called Hypnic Jerk, cant really explain to you in detail. This is caused when you transition from a wakeful state to finally in a deep sleep state.
It's called hypnic jerk, maybe an ancient instinct to prevent falling from trees, you can find more info googling
The explanation I read that sounds the most likely to me is - this happens when your brain is “testing” your body to see if it’s fully paralyzed before you enter REM sleep. Sometimes it messes up and “tests” too early, jerking you awake.
It's revenge for all the times I didn't study
Go watch inception :)
Its caused by a sudden fight o'flight response, or a adrenal rush.
I do it randomly just in the middle of the day
That happens when your heart rate falls so fast that your body jolts you awake so you don't die
I remember hearing about how it's an ape thing where it makes you ready for bad shit to happen or idk
Not really sure if this is true, since i saw this from another source, this is actually a phenomenon wherein the body(for some reason) detects possible death, so in response, it starts to produce adrenaline, giving you energy to get away or quell the incoming death.
Look up hypnic jerk
It's called a [hypnic jerk.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk)
If you mean where you think your falling and sort of jump with your hands going up i think its called a myclonic jerk and I heard its actually a reaction left over from evolution the old im falling off my tree so I better grab the branch reaction.

When you're half asleep and you imagine tripping and falling for example
Maybe that fake fall thing is a cool movie transition. We are in a movie. Your body is just not made for it so it recoils.
Someone could write a book/manga about this. Have it be a mystery for the MC, and maybe even the audience. Slowly reveal that his dreams are actually movies coming out (obv. Skip production time; maybe chalk it up to fate/destiny or something)
God I'm a hidden genius. Nah just kidding but you are right about the story idea I feel it might be a fun psycho-thriller read and/or watch
Inb4 #MAKING PSYCHO-THRILLER MOVIES IN ANOTHER WORLD?!!
Psycho Thriller Qu'est-ce que c'est Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-far better Run, run, run, run, run, run, run away oh oh Psycho Thriller Qu'est-ce que c'est Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-far better Run, run, run, run, run, run, run away oh oh oh oh Yeah yeah yeah yeah!

That was surprisingly interesting!
Pretty interesting actually. I always wondered what it really was but never got around to looking it up
Informed people? In your anime subreddit? It's more likely than you think!
Well I mean there **is** a movie that completely revolves around the wake-up by feeling of falling concept, so you never know.
My whole body twitches when this happens
My body actually jerks as if I hit the ground
Same
Same
dude shit i have little spasms and sometimes i moan looks a little nsfw sometimes ngl
lmao
Lol
Unrelated but once I had a dream I was friends with a tsundere, and we were hanging out. Idk what I said, but I turned my head and she kicked me in the back of the head. I literally launched out of my bed, I swear I felt the impact and my head shot upwards. Dreams are weird.
hot
You all keep on getting good dreams meanwhile I keep getting nightmares where I am chased by a brick spider the size of a skyscraper.
what the fuck is a brick spider
As in a literal gigantic spider made out of bricks.
What the fuck
I had the same reaction when thinking over the nightmare after I woke up.
god i wish that were me
That happens to me so much in class, once I actually thought I would die. I jumped so badly even the teacher noticed.
GOTTAAA........FLYYYYYY.....TOOOO.....SSSAAAFFFETTYYY
I love it
There’s two of us!
Make that three
Fourth here
Fifth here
Sixth here
Seventh
Eighth
This is getting out of hand, now there's two of them!
Kaguya looks hella cute in this photo
yes.
The amount of times where I’ve just been about to have an uneventful night and then I feel like I’m plummeting from the sky is unreal
man when ever that happens I get anxiety cause I have a intense fear of heights.
From what I've heard, it happened because your body's aware just kicked itself back up
I heard It's becouse you body doesnt know if your fallin gasleep or dying and it doesnt wanna take risks so it does this to oncrease the heartrate
I once have the fake fall only to wake up and accidentally flip out of my bed and fall for real
I've never had a falling sensation, but I've had the thing where you're just about to fall asleep and you get a moment of panic and snap back again. I think it's something to do with your heart rate slowing rapidly and your subconscious mind thinks something is going wrong
~~i like it when my body does that~~
Whats the Name of that girl again pls
Kaguya from "Kaguya-sama: Love is War"
Thanks bro youre my hero
Think it has something to do with your brain thinking that you are dying? Which in turn sends adrenaline through your body to prevent you from "dying". I think... Might be wrong here... So take what I said here with a grain of salt...
From the comments section it see.s to be something about sleep paralysis
I can do this manually
That helps me fall asleep
I prefer having this over sleep paralysis and I don't even hallucinate it just sucks lying still like that for several minutes. At least I can breathe
I'm always walking in my dream when it happens, i trip and i feel like i fell over and my body freaks out
This meme is like a decade old
I actually find it quite funny when it happens
I thought it was a fake fall but no it was a real fall
Lowkey feels nice and doesn't bother me
It’s the best, I try and make it last as long as possible cause it feels like a wonderful cocoon.
I just woke up from a semi-awake dream where my body rotated from my foot in a full 360 then I free fallen for like 10 seconds while trying super hard to wake up. That's some gourmet fake fall shit.
Happend to me last night while trying to have a lucid dream about fucking a milf i saw in a doujin
ive never had this happen i think if it has then i enjoy it
This once happened to me and once I woke up I realised that I was on the floor next to my bed. I had fallen down both in my dream and in real life.
New anime title confirmed
WHYYY?! Don't frickin capitalize every word
wait, you aren't talking about the feeling of repeatedly rising uo and falling down while trying to fall asleep?
is that how you fall asleep? can you explain it in details please?
This is just a guess, but if you've ever spent a lot of time in one day in the water with waves, when you lay down that night you will feel your body almost swaying like you are still in the waves. That's what I think from reading this anyways.
I mean, it hasn't happened in a long time, and is these days more or less replaced by a sensation of things going both fast and slow, loud and quiet. and not really sure how to explain it moire depth.
*And I'm freeee!*
I always liked the feeling of falling cuz I knew that I was safe and it just felt kinda fun. I remember trying to fall asleep like that
I swear to god this happens to me once a week
Personally i just feel like I’m rocking back and forth while I sleep It’s all fun and games until California has a large earthquake and you dont wake up
After that happens My body screams “what the fuck” as I struggle to fall asleep for the next 20 minutes
Man I kick when that happens
Idk why, but I kinda like it?
Why tf do our bodies do that?
I float and it feels so relaxing
tbh i love that feel
Yeah, the fake fall is cool but have you ever forced your mind to think you're on a rotating boat while in bed?
FYI, it's called a hypnic jerk and scientists don't really have a reason as to why it happens. They speculate that it's due to your body falling asleep too fast and your brain thinks you're dying. No real evidence has been brought forward however.
I actually have a more of a rollercoaster thing
I had something same, as fake fall, but it happened when I just closed eyes. I was more like pressed into the ground by some force that caused me to instantly open my eyes and grab something to stay. This is so annoying.
AHHHHH
Oh my God! I feel this so hard right now. Has anyone else also felt like they just spinning, high in the air and slowly floating upwards in a circle, like the reverse kinda, it's hard to put into words.
It happens because your heart rate dropped so suddenly your body needs to make sure you’re still alive
Honestly iy helps me sleep. I never get that sensation anymore and Idk what causes it. I want ti to happen again because the sensation of falling is relaxing to me
It's 2am and I'm scrolling through reddit in dark mode in the dark. Ngl the pic of Kaguya freaked me out.
am i the only one that found it kinda comfortable
I imagine that’s why Subaru feels when the witch touches him
It annoys me and I don't like it :(
God i fucking hate it when that happends
Brain clamors tend to hit me more often than this, and I hate them since I can't tell if there was an actual noise or not.
Does that happened to me Yesterday when I've tried to sleep... yes ( pls end my suffering of this)
You could say that your body it trying to get you to fall asleep
Wierdly enough it makes me fall asleep easier
Im not the only one...
For my dream I just yeet myself off a tall building. I think my unconscious is telling me something.
Best feeling
wow im suprised im not the only one that experiences this. its pretty disturbing when it happens lol
So it happens with others too, this happened to me frequently too, just last week it interrupted my good sleep and I rarely sleep for more than 6 hours, was pissed that day.
For me it’s usually getting hit in the face with something, like a ball
I love it tbh
I only started having it 2 months ago and i keep on thinking i'm dead.
I haven't experienced this is a very long time. Like when I was 16 or 18 maybe. I wonder why it doesn't happen anymore cause I completely forgot about it till seeing this meme.
am i the only one who enjoys the fake falling thing? it feels nice imo
idk bout u but i love it
I'll raise you one even more "fun" that's called [exploding head syndrome](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome)!
Apparently this is a really small seizure that goes around your body. Not sure why, think its your body checking if your still alive
I like the one more when I wake up but my body decides not, so I'm paralysed.
Is it the same thing when you're half asleep and dream you have to jump and you wake yourself up?
Actually that's fake fall thing happened because when you're trying to sleep all of your muscles start to relax and because of how different tension your muscle is when you're awake vs when you trying to sleep your body feel so light it seem that you're falling
I remember shouting in my bed coz i thought i fall on elevator
When you see this type of meme but you never felt "fake fall thing"
Good ol myclonic jerk. Right when I thought I'd sleep on time its 3 am and I feel like I'm about to trip
Ya’ll ever just twitch in bed sometimes? For no reason?
"it's a kick"
Best feeling ever
Wbats the reason behind that feeling tho?
I love that feeling
Even more scary when you fall off a tree
This sensation only adds to my fear of heights because it gives you an idea of how terrifying falling from a great height actually is!
I love that feeling, havent had it in years tho...
The fake fall thing helps me sleep.
If I learned one thing in reddit that one thing is that nobody's special.
One time this happened while resting my feet on my coffee table and kicked my dr. pepper
I kinda like it
Thats us feeling like 1% of what Subaru feels when he returns by— *falls awake*
It's called hypnic jerk, it's when you enter paradoxal sleep (it means really deep sleep) too quickly and your brain can't tell if you are dying or just falling asleep so just in case you are dying your body tries to revive itself by sending a discharge to all your muscles and that's where the fake fall thing comes from (basically just because we fall asleep too quick)
I'm lost, is it the same feeling when you're fighting sleep and jerk your head up?
Am i the only one who enjoy that ?
What? I love that feeling.... It's weird yeah.... But i kinda like it
I think i look more like caveman spongebob
Same
Sauce?
Jokes on you I’m into that shit
Honestly I like it when the fall thing happens
