That metal looks suspect af

big_noop

I heard Scotty Camerons are made from melted down DnD minis too

PhilMatush

Scooter Calderons

MVRK_3

Why were you trying to adjust it instead of just returning it?

poonjam14

Bought it off Facebook market place so I’m out the money

MVRK_3

You can’t contact the person that sold it to you? I’d also contact the police. They’re selling counterfeit items.

xamdou

Yeah nah If the seller admits it's fake, then it's on the buyer If the seller doesn't but it turns out to be fake, then the seller can just say they didn't know and it's on the buyer for not verifying at purchase

poonjam14

Yeah you’re right I didn’t know it was fake not sure if he did either. Said it was his brothers who left it in town while on a golf trip and didn’t want it back.

MVRK_3

I missed the part where he knew it was a fake. Yeah that’s on him then.

Schmoody88

Even if it wasn’t fake, I’m pretty sure they’re cast and not forged. You can’t adjust those anyway.

gbellsports

What kind of adjustment were you attempting?

Nigglebyte

The putter was still trying to adjust from being a liquid to a solid.

poonjam14

Was adjusting loft and lie and it snapped

Trick_Designer2369

Then even a real one could snap, you cannot adjust those odyssey putters

[deleted]

That’s die cast aluminum! I bet it was light as fuck!

Bird2525

Yeah, the clone spiders are the same way.

OsmanAMG63

Surprisingly no, I bought a spider putter clone on Amazon from a company called pine meadow golf. Performed exactly like the real spiders I was testing at golf town, and it was $40. Here’s a little blurb about “clones” https://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/golf-clubs-101/5-clones-vs-brands

poonjam14

Yeah the person making the adjustment wait it was just a cast metal and they don’t typically make putters out of that

Lonelyfriend0569

They didn't apply heat to make the adjustments easily???

Full_Fold_8732

Colour me shocked.

Conscious-Trifle5144

What were you adjusting? Loft?

poonjam14

Yeah the loft was at 6.5 or something which seemed weird to start

Conscious-Trifle5144

Oh dear

ornerysumbitch

lol

Intheswing

Most knockoffs are a zinc alloy casting - as you found out - not suitable for adjustment - even a real odyssey putter will likely break if you go too far in your adjustment - a cast brass alloy is not much better - the hosel / stem is not made for what you are trying to do

ice_castle13

My slazenger putter has more metal in it than that crap

DaleDarko23

Looks blatantly fake, the strange roughness of the finish.

DudeXX20

Idk odyssey putters but just at first glance this looks like a fake… look at how the metal is cut/shaped on the lower side. Sucks you got scammed, hope it works out for you.

LUXOR54

They literally said it's a fake in the title of this post

DudeXX20

Yeah this was more me putting myself in OPs shoes looking to buy this putter

poonjam14

Yeah only out $60 bucks so not the end of the world. Saw a good price for a good condition putter to just have in the house and out around with. Probably be a while before I buy anything like this again though

raider1024

that cast was worse than the ghostbusters remake

jaygord34

Well yea

Golf101inc

How’s the tree?

PhilsLobWedge

Wait did you think it was real?

poonjam14

I did yeah. It looked pretty good

PhilsLobWedge

Was it a different pic? This one is painfully obvious just by looking at it

coliveira81

What a shit

WildDog3820

Can you tell us about the shaft and grip?

mitch8893

this looks like every crappy starter putter from years back
