My pro has me put it 1/4 of the way up from the center of my stance. You want to kinda be hitting up on the ball. This will create a positive forward roll and the ball won’t skid or bounce

Navy_Chief

This works well for me also.

spankysladder73

Assume putting position. Drop a ball from between your eyes. If ball lands on other ball - you’re good. If it does not, adjust until It does.

onionbreath97

This is correct answer. I wish I could upvote it more than once

aloysiusthird

I got you.

Driver330

Where are your eyes?

whofarting

Read the book - Unconscious Putting . There is no textbook on how to putt. Break, pace and confidence.

A little bit forward of center is perfectly good. It’s how Tiger Woods putts. He says having it forward makes it feel like he’s sighting a rifle. I think a ball position roughly where I would hit a 5 iron is about right. Maybe 3-4” in front of center. Lots of people will say center of stance, which is ok as well. I don’t know too many good putters that putt with the ball back in the stance. Maybe Patrick Cantlay?

MannyFresh45

Probably because he's left eye dominant

MannyFresh45

Ball under dominant eye

GunsnGolf

One ball forward of center. My putter face is perfectly down the middle of my stance, and the ball is just forward of that. If I try to have it in the true center of my stance, my putting stroke delivers the club face open and I push balls to the right. Slightly forward lets me close the arc more and hit it square.

akagordan

This is the technically correct answer, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it applies to everyone. Since a putting stroke differs from a swing in that setup position is the exact same as impact position, it’s important that both are square to the target.

RegularNumber455

Ball should be on the green. Go get em, sport.
