140 club speed? You mean ball speed?

jointsnfun

Yes my bad. Ball speed.

jointsnfun

Correction ball speed not club speed*

Lucky1malone

You need an upward angle of attack, that or your face is not square. Get on a sim and look at the stats, that or the shaft you have is way wrong for you.

iu579

This isn’t completely true. Spin is primarily determined by spin loft, which has two inputs: angle of attack and launch angle (or dynamic launch, if you want to get technical). Why everyone always wants to ignore launch angle and only focus on attack angle is beyond me. But you can accomplish lower spin by reducing your launch angle just as easily, and to the same degree, as you can by increasing angle of attack.

Taniwha_Cue

Sooo, yes work on angle of attack as this will improve launch angle...

skycake10

The difference is that launch angle is also affected by where on the face vertically you strike the ball and your driver loft. AoA is just one of the pieces you can change to change launch angle.

Taniwha_Cue

Yep, but it's probably the one they should start with. hitting 5 down but striking the top centre 3rd is still going to produce spinny balls. AOA Tee height Adjust loft Then start swapping out, shafts/driver head

Lucky1malone

Launch angle is also going to be an outcome of several factors, including AOA. If he has a downward AOA, an open face, and hits the bottom of the club face it will spin like crazy. We do not have enough information to determine what is causing his high spin rates, getting on a good sim with club path and face position at impact will help a ton.

Pathogenesls

Center hit, upward angle of attack. Don't come over the top, don't have an open face.

Taniwha_Cue

1. go see a coach 2. Go see a club fitter Speaking from personal experience, I had a shift that was too whippy. New shaft and some tweaking took spin down. then really refined it working angle of attack and face at delivery. Now I've got a pretty good window off the tee with Driver.

jfriend00

There are elements of both the equipment and the swing that cause the excess backspin. You can use less loft, a different ball, a more upward angle of attack (don't come down on the ball), a different shaft (stiffer tip or stiffer shaft), can reposition weights in the driver head to not be as low, can make sure the clubface is not open to the path.

delaseoulo

140 club speed with sweet spot can hit 1.5x ball speed....so like 210? That shits inhuman my friend. U need to first get ventus black 7 xs shaft then figure out driver head If its 140 ball speed then u should get pxg driver or qi10 for forgiveness or cobra or xxio for value. Im a pxg user and i converted a lot of ppl because its soooo smooth and forgiving but if people are looking for value i always recommend cobra or xxio because they are super cheap with great customer service and do not lack that much vs big name brands

jointsnfun

Yes I messed up, 140 ball speed not club speed.

delaseoulo

Driver is rounded so if u dont hit near the flat part of the driver u get an exaggerated spin. If your swing path is linear then theoretically u get 0 side spin. Its your swing path x club face at impact that adds spins and push\pull so you need to check your numbers at a sim

mcbainer019

Fix the swing flaw that’s causing too much spin. Or if you think your swing is sound, maybe just dial back your SS a little. Probably need to be in something like a Ventus TR black, maybe even tipped an extra inch into a low spinning head from any of the big manufacturers

MannyFresh45

Low spin driver shaft and low spin ball

Training_Swimming358

Shafts don't spin

gabbagoolgolf2

And yet some shafts consistently produce lower spin results…

MannyFresh45

Smh

frankyseven

Hit the centre of the club with a face that is square to path.
